@niamh2739 I am not certain what it is that you are asking but if it refers to the cost and construction time, I would state: This model is drawn to scale and is ready for further development for construction. I have not turned any of the drawings over to any construction firm(s) for evaluation as to the actual construction cost or construction time. I would welcome the opportunity to further develop this project if and when the interest warrants it.
Thank you for the compliment. In response to your question, no I am not a professional. At least in the area of using Sketch Up Pro, Layout, or even home design. However, I have had a structural engineer view my concept and he says the design and structure are perfectly viable.
How long did it take to make the model? Considering the fact that I basically had to teach myself Sketch Up Pro as I went along and I would occasionally set the project aside during periods of frustration, let us just say that I have far more hours into the final model then I would ever be willing to admit.
Most of my frustration arose from the sheer size of the file. Since I live aboard a boat, my computer access was restricted to a G4 laptop. I finally realized that I had to segment the model into different parts for the actual drawing process and bring them all together only for viewing and illustration. The final model works well for viewing but not for additional drawing/development because of the size of the file. Not certain if this is a limitation of the actual software or my computer.
Excellent presentation.
