The problem is that the Native Americans didn't unite, they were splintered. It took long until they really tried and unite. Tecumseh came, but it was too late. As a European, i feel sorry for the Native Americans losing their native land to those...epic idiots... They talk of Obama being the first black president of the USA, being a major revolution. I'm waiting for a new native American President, or at least some Native American states. The fight isn't over...
Tell your grand children the TRUTH. We were living in our paradise before you colonizers came...I am a full blood Native(indigenous) to New Mexico and Mexico...Your a filthy monster Alfonso. People like you make my people shine
@Metaldude1945 Yes, There are still reservations in both that still, even to this day, have fully traditional speaking, full blood indians. I know a few people personally who have never been to a reservation, but are still 100% Indian (and who also manage to keep their culture/language alive)
@Metaldude1945 Haha I agree :D Yes, there is many that still practice their ancestors' lifestyles..I, my family, and grandparents still practice it. We call it the "Native American Church" or "NAC" for short. Sad thing is...Many indian kids these days abandon their cultures, either by means of 'Gangs' and all that or just plain forgetting it :(
Eradicated us! Atleast you admit that we were slaugtered through biological warefare. Small pox, chicken pox, measles. If you call 500 whites dropping a biological weapon of diseases on us, then so be it...We were killed by white filthy diseases (Over 80 million of us). A tactic whites tried all around the world.
@AlfonsoTheGod Great. Well, if you truly wake up, and become distraught when you realize how crazy you have been, get help before you suck on your sidearm. Way too many of you guys are killing yourselves.
@AlfonsoTheGod You really should have put a comma after peroxide, and there's a 'd' in 'retarded'. I bet you're a fat Wasichu with a Fu-Man-Chu moustache and some faded tattoos of eagles holding arrows or some shit, and maybe a skull of some kind. Can you even see your toes (or anything else down there, for that matter)?
@AlfonsoTheGod You poor, spiritless person, so full of hate, is the emptiness and cruelty of your white family too much for you to face? Your hollow life must be sad and unbearable. You may know love someday, my friend, once you stop feeling so much hate. Wake up. You are asleep.
i am 13 years old and i know this song very well. this song is for my nation, i will sing it till i die. and every american indian that knows it shall walk on to be a leader .
I made this video using photographs I took during a powow in Palo Alto . The video was used to present the case and cause for supporting indigenous cultures. .
Years after, the music continues to haunt me. I find my self often wanting to travel to the native lands, to immerse in the culture, the music, the meanings, the people/s... and perhaps be blessed with enlightenment or even wisdom in a story, a book or another video to share...i seek the meaning behind the song. sanny_leviste@yahoo.com
Beautiful - brought tears to my eyes. There is so much to be done in this country to make up for past injustices. I cannot imagine being taken away from my family, thrown into a residential school run by some different religion and told that I will never speak my own language again or see my family and that everything about me is wrong.
@katiekayc I know I would never be able to handle that. Been then again the government think they have the power over all. They remind me of bullies, and we all know what happens to bullies. Your words are beautiful. May the Great Spirit Bless You
Once a year I take the drum into prison with my son and I. I am a Spiritual Advisor in a maximum security prison (prison the fastest growing res on turtle island). We end our gathering with this song, 20-25 brothers singing loud and proud. The gaurds and white shirts have no idea what we are singing and why! It is very powerful!
My uncle Allison died because he was supportin AIM and if shit with the gov was to ever start up again so will I. Proud of my heritage and my culture NATIVE PRIDE 605!!!! Always be representin AIM til' i die. no matter what.
looks like a nice powwow! I am a long walker from the south route Longest Walk 2, I will always fight for our people and our way of life, and the mother we walk on til the day my body returns to her. aho mitakuye oyasin
@NativeLife09 I know there is still an A.I.M. group. I only meant that more Native people should be proud of what A.I.M. did instead of making fun of them. On my reservation, more than half of our people don't really care about it. But I do. Anyway, I'll always support the American Indian Movement to the end.
@trisgilmour .........the racism, the cultural unawareness, the social troubles on reserves, etc. i was just one of the white dudes spreadin the word on it all.
Thank you so much, Nowa Cummig. This is why Native people shouldn't give up the fight against the government. Because AIM didn't. YOU didn't and that motivates a lot of Indian and non-Indian people to keep going. Aho and Meegwitch!
Thank you for acknowledging the origins of this sacred song.
