I have never actually worried about blood quantum's, I don't identify as mixed blood either, its obvious that I am mixed. On the historical context, we were all who our mothers were, we may have been mixed with other nations or races, but we were who our mothers were. Blood Quantum is an artificial barrier created to divide & destroy us all. Some of our people have adopted this horrible practice to "weed" certain people out. On the other hand, we are trying to know who our folks are.

This was a fascinating discussion. I think it created more questions in my mind than ahswered them. I think the most helpful comments for me were those about the responsibilities of being a tribal member vs individual rights.. I being a member of a tribe struggle daily with the fitting my personal rights within the context of the larger tribal responsibilities. The dual citizenship in the USA and a tribal nation continually raise questions to me.
