  • Great song and classic NWOBHM album. Nice cover

  • reminds me of sumthin blue oyster cult would do but cap america, def leppard early years no question

  • NWOBHM is the greatest!!!

  • that's how songs should be! great music, superb lyrics and nice vocals ;)

  • Went to see Dark Star back in 1980 at Retford Porterhouse, they were supporting Magnum, what a great night. Bought the album, still have it and still play it.

  • @ClarkeEccles Yes, I was there, too. Two quality bands at a great little venue. What a time that was to be a rock fan!

  • Thank fuck I found this band on my mate's NWOBHM compilation recently. Im now a fan. It's heatbreaking to listen to bands this good but never made it. Shame on the music press for ignoring them.

  • whats awesome is that the singer is my music tech teacher rik staines

  • N.W.O.B.H.M FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I found there First Album on Amazon.com Good Stuff via MP3 Download

  • reel to reel had a differnt line up Mark osland on bass but i cant think of the drummer but ill ask the singer when i see him.

  • These guys were pretty fuckin' tight! Great songs.

  • wow this kicks ass. sounds just like blue oister cult. i thought i knew of way more music like this than anybody i know till i found utube ta educate me :)

  • NICE!

  • Think this is on "Metal for Muthas" released around 1980, remember seeing Dark Star at Wigan Pier in the early 80's.

  • many thanks for posting this. I remember it well and I think I may it on a NWOBHM album somewhere in my dusty vinyl collection. If you can get hold of "Paper Chaser" by a band called Taurus (featured on the Metal Explosion LP of Friday Rock Show sessions), that would be incredible.

  • yeaaaaaaaah great band this is the first time i hear them

  • lol rik the singer is my teacher at college looooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllll

  • Was the most awesome track when I heard it first back in the early 1980s and it is still as fresh. Dark Star never got the recognition they deserved, but unfortunately the industry views things in monetary terms. Still one of my top twenty tracks of all time. Nuff said. Glad they did the metal for Muthas Ii!

  • Not heard this song for years. It was on my "best of" rock tape which disintegrated about 12 years ago.

  • Just got hold of this fabulous album on the Krescendo Records label. At long last I can hear it again. It also contains a brief but valuable amount of information. It appears they came from my own neck of the woods in Birmingham and the local area, namely Kidderminster. Fantastic stuff, it makes me smile with happiness when I hear this brilliant slice of metal.

  • gr8 song. bot this album 1st time rnd . 2nd fav song was the musician . ah wher does the time go !

  • Does anyone have any information on this group. They were nearly faceless then and now it is impossible to find anything about them. Where they were from, who was in the group, what happened to them etc. As I say I saw them a few times but knew nothing about them. Great headbanging music!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Angelicum7 dave n rick harrison, bob key, chris causten.n steve the drummer.and they were a great band and a pleasure to have been with them on tour.

  • @woody01902 Brilliant! Thanks again for the info. Now I can put names to some rather blurry faces at long last. What group were you with?

  • I was 19 when this came out and I saw them many times. Bought the album and played it to death so much so it is now unplayable so to hear this track again is fantastic. Wish it was on CD. Great time to be around with other bands like Magnum, Tobruk, Gaskin, Heavy Pettin Shy, Mamas Boys, Dawn Trader, Blade Runner and many other great NWoBHM bands. Noone took this stuff seriously then which is why so few survived which is so sad. Thanks for the great memories.

  • At least 1,000 views are from me... Very good song

  • OMG !!! How I wish have lived these years ! Anyway...Tks Youtube for I can hear these hidden treasures !

  • I don't know, but his does remind me of Led zeppelin.....

  • Great Track, One of the stand out tracks on 'Metal For Muthas Vol II', I saw the band around 1981 Hinckley Regent Club,Great Days... Federation Bitter and Lager 50p a pint, bring it on!!!

  • I didn't dig this at first, but the song grew on me as it progressed, very exellent!

  • Nice.

  • my dad steve atkins was the drummer in this band :) he told me they were quite big in america/japan :) shame they didnt get more publicity

  • @rakerholm i bought it brand new,if you go into a music shop and ask for this they look at you fuckin gone out

  • @MegaCoolguy666 This album is released in 1981. As far as I know this is the only album ever from this band.

  • @rasco1966 Metal Archives says they've got another album called Real to Reel, released in '87.

  • @RotnRoll77 yeah and its very middle of the road sounding, nowhere near as this little gem

  • @RotnRoll77 yeah and its very middle of the road sounding, nowhere near as gutsy this little gem

  • @MegaCoolguy666 It was recorded in 1979 or 1980 and was released on "Metal for Muthas Vol. 2" compilation in 1980.

  • Absolutely fantastic track from the NWOBHM era.

  • picture this, Its 6 o'clock, I stick "Lady of Mars" on the record player, just slipped my best AC DC t shirt on (well cleanest!) ,Pull on the stinky bike leather followed by the sleeveless with the motorhead logo painted on the back, grab my skid lid and go downstairs to fire up the Yammy Fizzie, then hit the road! I'm 16 again.

Cheers for the trip down memory lane!

One of the best riffs from the NWOBHM.

The phrasing doesn't seem dated either.

  • its a cryin shame bands like this and so many others are forgotten this is real good shit long live metal

  • Went to the gig they played at the "Club Laffette" in wolverhampton in 1980 . Have got this LP and still play it regularly as it still sounds awesome!

  • One of the most obscure NWOBHM bands, i think the former member dont know that t=now they are in youtube! haha xD

  • Comment removed

  • really? you're one of'em I guess..

  • Never heard this lot before, pretty good stuff.

  • Awesome! first heard this on Metal for Muthas!

  • Saw them live at Wigan Pier some time around 1981 - they were supporting someone, but I can't remember who (might have been Budgie) - got their autographs on a poster and had it hung in my bedroom until I went to college. Was a damn good gig as I recall.

  • great band!! please upload the song "crazy circles"

  • woooo incredible since 3:00

    good solo

  • Best track on the LP.

Never saw these guys live which was a shame.

  • Bob from Dark Star used to teach me guitar about 15 years ago, pity i had to give them up for driving lessons. He was a really nice guy and a fantastic guitarist, Cheers Bob!

  • Brilliant!

Check out my countdown (New Wave of British Heavy Metal Top 14 Singles). Its based on the singles I bought and still have from that era. Therefore it's not the definitive list and this single that was nicked (at some party) in the early 80's would have definitely featured. Cheers. Rockin Amoeba

  • b-b-but...nice new appereance for me,,this was good! can recommend two other lil "in the shadows band" Malice is one and dont miss this > Riot - cd/LP - "fire down under"

  • Is this the band that Steve Lipski, a NJ city councilman, was seeing at the 9:30 club in DC when he urinated on the crowd? LOL

  • Remember buying this LP on Derby market for £1.99 in 1981. Came with a free Dark star patch. Never seen one with the patch since, but lost mine years ago. Now have the Jap CD with extra tracks. Would listen to the Tommy Vance show on Radio 1 on a Friday night to check out new artists and songs. Great stuff.

  • great stuff!

  • Love this song-still have the album and give it a spin regurarly. Always loved "The Musician."

  • Dark Star, one of the Black Country's finest rock bands.

  • NWOBHM IS THE LAW

  • I remember seeing Dark Star back in the day - they blew me away this is such a great track. Another great N.W.O.B.H.M. band Crucifixion were supporting them and their track The Fox must challenge as the rarest song on You Tube. I knew the band really well have an original copy - those were the days! Cheers for posting

  • Another Underestimated N.W.O.B.H.M. band. The album is awesome, the music is great and "Lady Of Mars" is one of my favorite tracks ever... (Thank you for posting my friend - Keep the flame alive)

  • it rocks..it's pretty good..

  • I dont know of any other place to find this except on DC++ (hard) or by using torrent (also hard). My dad bought this LP when it was new, thats how I got it.
