Not really feeling the thumbpick -- John Hurt never used one, and I don't know why so many guitarists feel the need.

He does, it's called a THUMB ;) At the end of the day it doesn't matter if you pick with a thumb callus, bit of nail, piece of plastic, just keep the picking alive I say.

no he didn't, thumbpick tones are dirt, I find myself ditching it when I try to wear one after the first verse. watch any MSJH video on here and he's not using one, because he knows thats where the tones at.
