The music for 'QV' represents Dr Rozsa's 'take' on what would have been the style of the music of the period, representing the Greek and Jewish composition. That is why it is similar to that for 'Ben-Hur', 'Sodom and Gomorrah' and 'King of Kings.

It's sad how many symphony orchestras seem to avoid music from the movies. It gets relegated to "pop" concerts. I would put some of Miklos Rozsa's music up against anyone's. The music from "King of Kings" was likely his "largest" score, recorded with big orchestra and chorus inside a major church. I wish someone would post his string quartet. Dennis
I agree completely. I recently purchased concert tickets without knowing what was to be played. Bad move! A little Haydn and Brahms, and then the rest of the program was devoted to "young, modern composers." One piece was billed as a "daring exploration of tones and harmonies for pipe organ and orchestra." I needed hearing protection and it was hideous. Audience comments in the parking lot were snarly. Promoters of this crap still won't get their heads out of their collective asses.
Quo vadis, domine? Translated to modern vernacular: "Where are you going, Lord?"
Another of Dr. Rozsa's brilliant and heartfelt music soundtracks for a religious film. I love the music for "Ben Hur' and "King of Kings" more but this music still holds a special place in my heart, too.
"Qou vadis, Domine" ist the final sentence of Henryk Sinkiewicz' monumental novel the movie epic is based on. As part of Rozsa's score, it is also the last articulated word in the movie version of "Qou vadis", so the novel and the film culminate and end the same way.
@stroppytube My channel's 550 playlists are a hall of fame for the best music from over a century. I've playlisted over 350 artists, including 20 film composers. Always a work in progress, the Miklós Rózsa list is going up today! Music like this is a permanent thread in the fabric of our culture that will NEVER be lost ! ! ! I've also listed music for every year since 1900 & Rózsa's music span nearly half of the last century, 1937-1982! My great thanks to all who post the music! chuck
