Heya...I have a standard Type S RX 8 and this doesn't really look to be any quicker at all? Mind you mines only done like 75,000 km. Plus I thought you couldn't bridgeport RX8 motors? Not trying to flame you or anything, just an interested RX8 owner. I was thinking about supercharging mine but would much rather port it if I could.
so hows your 8 running? id love to port mine but not many people have done and no one really tested the reliability after its been ported. you think a bridge is worth it or just a normal street port would be good enough?
it is the original motor but we just bridge ported it slightly. we later had a problem and found the one back housing bridge was too narrow and broke corner pieces. but it is now back together and should run in 2 or so days again.
it is all we did, doweling or other, just small bridges extra in with on street port you cant do too much on bridge just a bit, and you have to cut a bit into the housing
it is still standing after the last time, there was a problem, it leeked oil into rotor 1 and caused high carbon and 2 sides not sealing as well as a waterleek,
thus i think it will run much better now after the fix, but it still need tuning, but still with standard ecu, other will follow later
Im with mehmehxxx my rx8 does a standing 1/4 in 14.9 seconds at 157kmh on the G-tech and this video starts at 33 km goes for 14 seconds and ends up at 137kmh,
yes it was just run in and at very high altitude, where we are we loose approx 25% power due to altitude,
but it is in again as we found a fault with water leak and oil problem which caused compression loss.
it should be done in two weeks or so, had to split motor again, oil consumption was high and plugs fouled this also caused some seals to stick, it was small but it built up quickly. it happened just while after the test.
something else as well i only started up in second gear not from first, so the first part is actually slow, if i would have pulled from 1st it would have been much better,
but will see after the problem is fixed, i must actaully take it to the coast at some time, that will then be a one to one comparison.
i agree it wasnt that fast, biut we did find a fault, avtually two, both on no 1 rotor.
i also agree that it need a tune to utilise the fueling with porting,
i just so happen to have a video on my phone of me doing a pull from the EXACT same rpm in 2nd gear. I played both side by side and to my suprise my car reached redline faster. I have I/H/E and a tune. I hope you get yours going faster cuz I wanted to get mine bridged but not after seeing this... are there any updates to your project?
@asiancustoms: He didn't go past 10K, he went about 9500 but not past 10000. And I really, really hope you're joking about the pistons and con rods.

omg you just went past 10000RPM!!! wouldnt that shoot your pistons and conrods into space??????????

@MrRotarySA1 u eat leeks u fix leaks, haha but nice vid

Yes,
i hope it also makes a change,
but it still did feel ok, even with the faults,
midrange was better, need tuning to get top better.
the motor has 220 000km on!
also not bad
but i know the rotaries loose plenty power due to high altitude

look forward to seeing it at low altitude and with the problems ironed out, good luck I hope it works out !

The porting didn't pay off as i compare your acceleration with mine and yours is pretty much slower..Why the hell is that though?Bad tune?

The car was just broken in and he was a very high altitude.
