The amount of fan-made campaigns and mods is also incredible, and most of them are of great quality. Some of them even surpass the quality of the original game.

By that you mean a complete boredom? Well, I admit this game was very fast paced action oriented. But the planets were downscaled because of the game design. (You can fly from planet to planet in a single game level.) Still the visuals were (and IMO still they are) terrific when it was released and it really gave me the feeling of flying in space. If you want the complete space, then there would be probably not much to do as it would be so vast and vacant.

Used to play it multiplayer with some friends...one of my friends had miles less kills....he didnt realise that the game puts a red cross up for where your supposed to aim. So his aim aint bad....he just shooting at where the game tells him...plus mouse flight looks really sensitve on his :o

Dback is a stylistic choice. Depending on your flight style they can work to your advantage.
I prefer nomads too. But there have been times I'd wished for some dbacks - say.. when in a 1 vs 4+ (pvp) firefight. You spend so much time juking gunfire, you don't have much time to snap off a good shot, and it'd be nice to land dbacks during that moment.
So no, I'd say people who use dbacks aren't 'idiots', though some of them might be. Others might just know something you don't.
Copy and paste this on every freelacer related videos to urge Microsoft to make freelancer 2 or expansion, it might help get back one of the best games of its time.

I play Discovery mod and there are improved light fighters from all houses. All can have lvl 9 weapons and have similar armor . Unfortunattely the default agility was kept. So the best one is improved Patriot and brick called Banshee is the worst. In other words, same firepower but huge difference in agility.
I've played Discovery. I don't see what the big deal is. It is very poorly modded :/
Patriot is the lightest of ships, it can turn the fastest of all, yes.
But the weapon class makes it less useful than Drake, even though the Patriot's maneuverability isn't that much greater than Drake's.
And the improved Patriot (was it called a Liberator or something like that?) is really sad, in my opinion. They could've at least added extra wings to it, like all other Freelancer serial ships.
I don't mind the model but the only problem is balance. It is smaller, much more maneuverable, simply far superior to improved Banshee while having the same firepower.

The titan sucks, matter of fact its the worst of the 3 very heavy fighters. It turns like crap. Its got good defence but thats about it. The best ship in the game is the Eagle (found at Freeport 9 Omicron Theta)

TBH, yes the Titan has more armour...but it can be completely out maneuvered by the eagle. So in the end the pilot in the eagle will usually always win. From my experience anyway
well freelancer 2 it's almost impossible to happen .. but u can try some great mods for freelancer that r around there ... some even add more 400 new ships to the game !and new systems and stuff :p

My Freelancer game doesn't work online. It works fine in the single player game but when I try to load the list of servers my PC just freezes. Anyone have any idea what is going on?
try giving the game permission to connect to the internet before running it. It might be that the firewall is attempting to ask you what to do about the game connection through the usual popup window, but in some games, it will lock up the system instead of switching to the firewall window as it should.

No eject? dats not good. StarLancer realy rocks, its more fast, FreeLancer is too easy. Starlancer be's more realistic and there are more controls so u feel as if u r profesionall Pilot with diferent gear throtles and u can talk to players and enemys with c button, has alot things that I cant even explain, its sooo cool wen u about to die coz yor frend shouts different phrases to try eject! I also free roam in space and go planets or search ships in space millions of miles away with y button!!
Indeed....but Freelancer has many elements not featured in Starlancer such as Trading Commodities, Flying through other adventures by entering other systems with jumpgates with it's free forming atmosphere, but then...the "Discovery Mod" has the Best SP content that gives you the "feel" of an RPG game....
I fking love freelancer and i even modified the game to make it even more enjoyable but sadly it deleted my main completed campaign :<
Still it was nice to start in the 'Unknown' system but the thing is, although beautiful yet absolutely swarming with nomads. Also i put on a shield mod that you can buy so that your shield is like 100000 and your rachard rate is 1000. STILL sadly it was on manhattan :/
Sorta... still not "beaten", if you will play Freelancer a lot (one of the oldest games, and I have an nVIDIA 8800, I don't mind saying that I still play it very happy) after the SP quest finished, you'll see lots of Nomads in some hidden systems.
And always secret weapons to get... I know when I used to play it online I went straight for the "place" in which I found the best weapons in SP. A very tough ride, though. And with a mod I got the Nomad fighter, which at cruise speed beats the Trade Lanes.
My problem is that I need a Siletto heavy fighter but their base is hostile and I cannot dock. Can you tell me the right man where I can raise my rep with those guys?

For retards like you a lot of defense might be good because you suck so much at the game and cant really fight however if you know how to play the game you should know that AGILITY wins every time. Go back and learn how to read before you insult people jackass. And no i don't drive a "mustang".

TBH, yes the Titan has more armour...but it can be completely out maneuvered by the eagle. So in the end the pilot in the eagle will usually always win. From my experience anyway

well freelancer 2 it's almost impossible to happen .. but u can try some great mods for freelancer that r around there ... some even add more 400 new ships to the game !and new systems and stuff :p

I'm afraid no, Microsoft sold Digital Anvil and is showing no interesst in producing a sequel.
Chris Roberts vision of Freelancer was only partially realized in this version. A sequel would have a great potential.

My Freelancer game doesn't work online. It works fine in the single player game but when I try to load the list of servers my PC just freezes. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

try giving the game permission to connect to the internet before running it. It might be that the firewall is attempting to ask you what to do about the game connection through the usual popup window, but in some games, it will lock up the system instead of switching to the firewall window as it should.
Do you know how to do that?

I was searching for a really good space shooting game and came across this video on YouTube. I downloaded the demo yesterday and played it. It's REALLY Fun! I can't wait till work ends today and I can play again~! :)

Ah freelancer is a game i really enjoy especially at the mid-end of the game where battles becames intense. I love the mod but i hate it when they put on skidding in space if you know what i mean....

I tryied the demo and i CANT figure out how the fuck these waygates work.I suppose to click on non existent circle (i can click anywhere on a waygate and inside that "purple box" and nothing happens) , then i suppose to click on "fly bitch " kind a button.Well its not really "fly bitch" but what the hell , my mission will be failure because i dont have a screenshot that shows me EXACT place i need to click on.How about button "fuck off" and "take over from here" so i dont have to bullshit around

You have to dock with your target by either clicking on the dock icon on the top bar of the screen or pressing 'F3' on your keyboard.

This is the best space game I've played. Though in the earlier stages against daggers and legionnaires I find myself spraying and praying in most of the battles :x

No eject, but can cockpit view and talk to npcs. starlancer is prequel to freelancer

No eject? dats not good. StarLancer realy rocks, its more fast, FreeLancer is too easy. Starlancer be's more realistic and there are more controls so u feel as if u r profesionall Pilot with diferent gear throtles and u can talk to players and enemys with c button, has alot things that I cant even explain, its sooo cool wen u about to die coz yor frend shouts different phrases to try eject! I also free roam in space and go planets or search ships in space millions of miles away with y button!!

Indeed....but Freelancer has many elements not featured in Starlancer such as Trading Commodities, Flying through other adventures by entering other systems with jumpgates with it's free forming atmosphere, but then...the "Discovery Mod" has the Best SP content that gives you the "feel" of an RPG game....

I fking love freelancer and i even modified the game to make it even more enjoyable but sadly it deleted my main completed campaign :<
Still it was nice to start in the 'Unknown' system but the thing is, although beautiful yet absolutely swarming with nomads. Also i put on a shield mod that you can buy so that your shield is like 100000 and your rachard rate is 1000. STILL sadly it was on manhattan :/

Not if you count in that both the Coalition and the Alliance were wiped out by the Nomads... (just search for the FREELANCER LONG INTRO).

Sorta... still not "beaten", if you will play Freelancer a lot (one of the oldest games, and I have an nVIDIA 8800, I don't mind saying that I still play it very happy) after the SP quest finished, you'll see lots of Nomads in some hidden systems.

And always secret weapons to get... I know when I used to play it online I went straight for the "place" in which I found the best weapons in SP. A very tough ride, though. And with a mod I got the Nomad fighter, which at cruise speed beats the Trade Lanes.
