boondocks is so popular in america, even the old heads know about it and talk about it. YO, YOU NEED TO SHOW YA FACE MORE AND GET RECOGNIZED PERSONALLY!
About the first book, is it practical to add such detail? i mean is it ideal/efficient say if you wana have time to yourself as well as a social life, i myself was considering story boarding but i fear not enjoying life and being healthy/fit especially when having to stay up late hours just to get a board finished. So what do you think?
@leseant Maybe your misunderstanding my question, just because i don't want to be drawing storyboards for 24hrs a day doesnt mean i lack comitment, let me rephrase the question, say if you were working as a storyboard artist for a company, how deep could this cut into someones time? for example would they still have time for their own indipendent project, or enough free time for a side hobby such as exercising?
@Sh3nmu I understand, clearly now. But my answer is still pretty much the same. It's up to you how detailed your boards need to be. It goes from personal experience, ability, the faith you have in your staff animating from your boards to simply wanting full control of your own vision. All of these things apply only after you've figured out what your vision is. There's no one way around storyboarding and saving time. If you love the work, then you figure a way around it. It's really quite simple
@venomchris Basic Drill artbook is Season 1 ( Kamina ) . Final Drill artbook is season 2. ( after Kamina ). I will show Final Drill in another video ( i own that too).
@venomchris coo thanks, ya ttgl is still probably my most influential if not my fav anime, glad ur a fan too. oh so are Drill books 1-2 the same contents as groundworks
@venomchris exactly. They aren't any good. They're in Japanese. I don't read Japanese. I read english. Therefore they are no good to me. If i was Japanese ( which these books were made for, hence the rarity of having them due to US unavailability) then i'd be able to read the interviews. Then, they would be good to me.
man, I`ve been studying manga in Japan for the past two years now, and honestly the stuff that`s popular here right now is seriously lacking any real substance in my opinion and lately I`ve been feeling less and less enthusiastic about drawing manga, BUT watching your videos has reminded me of my first love and how I got into this whole thing in the first place, so I just want to say a big thank you for sharing these videos and reminding us what it`s all about.

Just watched Tokyo Godfathers yesterday, it is a stunningly brilliant film, and I endeavour to watch & buy the rest of Satoshi Kon's films now C:
His storyboards are awe inspiring too, they're more like exact screenshots from the movie than plans for the scenes =o

@The first book you mentioned.
I bet the reason he added such detail, was to make sure his "vision" stayed true to what he seen in his minds eye.
