  • Why are they waving dutch flags.

  • @Pendreagon Possibly because of New York's Dutch heritage. That's my guess

  • Speak up George,we can`t hear up the back.

  • His humility/humble nature is awe inspiring. A true American Hero. Forever, will he live in the hearts of the American People.

  • @historybuff5341 Ageed, even though a couple centuries have past since that oath was taken... we are still a very young nation in 2012. I pray the best is yet to come!

  • I know my history just FINE jackass," Native Amertcans"no longer exist. They were vanquished over 100 years ago. You are a citizen of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. A nation who's FIRST hero was George Washington. Get over it WHINNER... If you don't like that, then pound sand Injun.

  • @handsomewood1 Native Americans are about 1 percent of US population. Maybe you should go to reservations to at least see some you know. There might be others there who looked Latino to you but in fact are Native Americans. Come on.

  • @elyjugsbomb099 I have no issue with Native Americans other than the fact their "Native" status is all relative..They lost their land in battle. Just as they probably once acquired it. My family has been here for 350 years. I am as "native as any Indian;

  • @handsomewood1 Native of the United States of America, with ur ancestors being here since colonial times. A native on the basis of nationality and nationhood. However, Native Americans are natives of North America, on the basis of living here for thousands of years. And it's also on the basis of ethnicity. The Native American category is more of a race. They only became full citizens in 1924 anyway. So yeah, you're right in a way.

  • Now it's RON PAUL's Turn in 2012!

  • Where's "Hail to the Chief"???? I was expecting them to play it! LOL

  • @MrBillbonkers General George Washington was not born in England, he was born in Virginia in 1732. How exactly does that make him British if he was born and lived over 3,000 miles away and across an ocean?

  • Even though Hitler didn't murder as many people as George Washington and Andrew Jackson

etcetera... with the genocide of millions of Native Americans.

we should also honor him with a national day and monuments in his honor!

how about issuing a $90 dollar note with an Adolf Hitler portrait?

OH WHAT GREAT MEN ADOLF HITLER & GEORGE WASHINGTON!

OH YES WHAT GREAT MEN HITLER & WASHINGTON!

  • @Patambo2000 What an arrogant, and ignorant thing to say. George Washington was certainly not in the league of Adolf Hitler nor did he murderer millions of natives as you falsely claim that he did.

The only grudge which we can hold upon this man is that he was a slave owner and that he didn't stop British tyranny and crimes sooner rather than later.

  • Comment removed

  • @Patambo2000 You sir are a phucking moron. The American Indians were a technologically backward people.who lost their homeland. They were murdering, raping killing and stealing from each other CENTURIES before the first European set foot in Nroth america. Period. If it had not been for the white man conquering them, your sorry self would not even have been born. Take your pathetic self loathing and stick it squarely up your dumb azz.

  • @handsomewood1

    THE TRUTH HURTS HUH?

  • @Patambo2000 No dumbschit. your utter phucking STUPIDITY is what hurts.

    You self loathing MORON..

  • @handsomewood1

I just don't agree that a criminal should be honor.

If I steal from you today and murder you today, It would still be a crime 500, 50000 or a million years from the day I would commit those crimes. Just because time passes doesn't mean the crime wasn't committed, and that I would no longer would be consider a savage criminal.

  • @Patambo2000 You are a phucking idtiot. Washington was no a criminal except in the eyes of the British government. He was EELCTED BY THE PEOPLE. What is criminal is that an ignorant little Latino PEICE OF SCHIT such as yourself has computer access. You should be mowing lawns.

  • @handsomewood1

Actually my grand parents are all Native American, true americans!

But forget it, my poor ignorant wage slave, I can see you have a street level education since you don't know your history and have no idea of what is ethical and you can only and barely speak, read, and write one language. It wasn't me who was a thief, a murderer and had other human beings as slaves, it was George Washington. Sorry if the truth hurts you, but they are historical facts. bye

  • @MrBillbonkers

Oh yes! Washington was even greater than Adolf Hitler!

Because this shameless vulgar thief, committed an even grater genocide than Hitler himself, by murdering millions of Native Americans and enslaving other human beings & treating them worse than animals. OH YES WHAT A GREAT MAN!

Even though Hitler didn't murder as many people we should also honor him with a national day and monuments in his honor!

OH YES WHAT GREAT MEN HITLER & WASHINGTON!

  • Why are there Dutch flags in the crowd?

  • @Battleearl Not Dutch flags, but simple banners bearing the national colours of the United States of America (the same as Great Britain and France, by the way).

  • @MouYijian I see...

  • @Battleearl And Washington allegedly wore false teeth at that time, which would explain his feeble and muffled voice while pronouncing the oath of office, beside being almost entirely bald and heavily short-sighted. But he acted vigourously as a president, despite all physical difficulties, in service of his country.

  • @Battleearl Dutch flags you asked? George Washington's first inauguration was held at Federal Hall in New York City in 1789.

The connection is, New York City used to be a Dutch colony previously known as New Amsterdam. There is a military fort in New York which still flies the Dutch flag to this day.

  • @Snicklefritz1979 Indeed! That's why you have so many "Van" this-or-that's in New York's history, and fiction (the Van Tassels, e.g.).

  • I propose the Constitution be amended for the next presidential/public official inaugurations that a new elected official swears their oath of office with one hand raised. The other hand should be placed on the original copy of the US Constitution. The Constitution is their Bible, not the Bible or any other book.

  • @jteruel671 I agree with your statement. The Constitution does not revised and changed. It is outdated, too vague, badly written, and falsely interpreted.

Also, politics should not be mixed with religion. So therefore as you proposed, the Bible should not be used during the presidential oath. A copy of the Constitution should be used.

  • @Snicklefritz1979 The Constitution is not falsely interpreted. It is ignored and dishonored as are it's primary influences. Read George Washington's farewell address.

  • @Ruffneckization Great. So you're the real deal huh? Not just pretending?

  • shut the fuck up and enjoy another fine mini series from hbo you idiots

  • @MrCm1515 I couldn't have said it any better my friend. Bravo!

  • I am a Northerner living in the South and all I can say is this. Southerners are the most racist, bigoted, and prejudiced people I have ever met.

They love their guns their God but hate blacks and gays.

    Some things never change.

  • its funny that idiots Rank Lincoln above Washington, Lincoln was fucking tyrant that murdered my southern ppl, what President raises an army to invade his own nation.as we all know ,History is written by those that have hung heroes.or by the winners.and its always twisted to favor that viewpoint ,regardless of it being legit or not.as far as Im concerned Lincoln Got what the fuck he deserved. april of 1865 was a very dark time,as far as im concerned the country died in april of 1865,RIP

  • @BorderCityBandit The only thing Lincoln did wrong was fail to kill your ancestors. If idiot rednecks like you had your way, we would still have slavery. Small wonder you're the most despised group in American society today.

  • @edge229 Lincoln was traitor bastard,a tyrant,I would loved to have killed myself had I lived back then,I dont care for yankees, you could die in front of me,and I would throw a party,I dont hate Blacks,I do hate yankees .and have never and will never consider them my brothers,I do consider Blacks to be brothers and sisters, yes Blacks where wronged, yet yankees I can never forgive ,I would actually look forward to a Civil war part 2,this time it would be personal

  • @BorderCityBandit You said it perfectly. Amen. Death to tyranny!

  • @BorderCityBandit ...and why? Because of the Civil War? No-one alive on earth today was even alive during that time, yet somehow a victim or a perpetrator of whatever wrongs may have been committed then. Carpetbagging, the same. Civil Rights? That was passed by Southerner Lyndon B. Johnson.

  • @BorderCityBandit Either you're in desperate need of a history lesson or you're too ignorant and stupid to receive one. I'm leaning towards the latter. (My apologies for using such big words)

  • @BorderCityBandit I know man right on! I mean how could they free millions of people from torture, oppression, rape, brutality, forced labor like that? What a sad day indeed those millions of lazy southerners actually ahd to work and could no longer rape their slave women to breed more slaves to sell...oh the travesty...where did we go wrong? you see how nutty you sound?

  • George Washington should have chosen to become a King and today USA would be a great Monarchy.

  • Death to the traitor George Washington.

  • @mcpwns

    Come again?

(I'm not an American by the way?)

  • Hello...THIS IS JULIA. FRUM THA TAB.

  • 1:17 - Is that Pippin?

  • 8 years later Adams wrote to his wife:

He seemed to enjoy a triumph over me. Methought I heard him think, "Ay! I am fairly out and you are fairly in! See which of us will be the happiest!"

  • did washingtons voice really sound like that?

  • He was a good man who threw off the tyranny of British rule and united a new nation into a republic.

I wish we could go back to the year 1789... start over from scratch with our George Washington.

  • @Snicklefritz1979 if Washington was alive today there would be no tea party and no occupy wall street movement... he actually used militia to break up protests... he was against all protest to government...Adams and Jefferson weren't.... but Washington totally was

  • Anybody know if George Washington was actually that quiet when he took his oath? Just wondering if that is historically accurate.

  • I like how he's pretty much just talking to himself at the beginning and nobody's paying him any mind. Such a brilliant mind with absolutely no charisma or stage presence whatsoever. Thank goodness he was alive long before the advent of television, or we would have never elected such a pragmatic and noble man our president.

  • I believe that moment along with the last signature signed on the constitution was the defining moment in our history.. We are a wonderful nation that under the belly of the current beast in Washington DC still have that seed within us.. but at this point we are allowing leftists to trample all over what those great great men fought with so much integrity to give us...

  • What happened next, did they make a great country? Did freedom eventually expand throughout the world; their new found country leading the way? Did they ever go on and save the world from tyranny or anything like that? Did they ever after the destructiveness of a great war choose to rebuild not only their allies, but their enemies as well? Whatever became of this fledgling nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal—that every man can make himself.

  • @jbranstetter04 they choked on the freedom.

  • @thomashrev How did we choke on the freedom? We may have hiccuped from time to time, but we have not choked.

  • Comment removed

  • @thomashrev Why did you remove your comment? So we did not choke but instead we are slowly strangling. In a way you are right. The freedom that we have secured for ourselves is in a way the source of what some are claiming to be our decline. But do not count us out. I would still rather be an American than anything else in the world. If we are not to be the most influential country in the world with the biggest and strongest military, then what country should take that role?

  • @jbranstetter04 It's still alive that's what happened to it.

  • @njdevil281 Being "still alive" does not tell what became of it.

  • @jbranstetter04 I think you will find that America had much worse problems back then than it does today. It had a huge national deficit, slavery, underdevelopment, no infrastructure, and a poorly developed financial and legal system, also wide spread poverty and agrarian living. America still has its problems today but it is actually much better off. People have a psychological preposition to assume the past was always better.

  • @njdevil281 Maybe that should be taught in schools, that we are very well off today compared to our past. I think people look back at there own lives in the same way, thinking that it was all so great when they were young, but they forget about all of the hardships they had to deal with. It must be human nature to only remember the good stuff. Lincoln was facing the actual disintegration of our nation, of all that we had become. And yet we pulled through becoming even stronger after it was over.

  • @jbranstetter04 Well said. You're a breath of fresh air in the rampant flatulance that is the You Tube comment section.

  • @jbranstetter04 just watch part 5 of john adams to find out it is on netflix dvd service, and practically everywhere but i suggest you start at part 1 then keep going.

  • The difference between the founding fathers, great men like George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and politicians of today is that they were statesmen who put their country ahead of their own party and personal ambitions. They were imperfect men who put together a great nation. A framework that serves us today. It is a republic, if we can keep it.

  • Was it really a Free Mason KJV?

  • *sniffs in living room*

*mom looks over* "Hey hun? are you...crying?"

"what?!? oh no, no, it's just uh...it's um, it's my allergies..."

    "...right...."

  • we went from these ............to people like george bush who fucked our economy?

all well .the American people never choose this fuck shit ....you know why ....he stole the election in 2000.....i love america....yet we still have alot to learn fuck you tea baggers you shame our fathers ............U MOTHER SHITHOLE GO TO YOUR CSA

  • Comment removed

  • @devildirtstraker666 Very eloquent language. I'm sure these men would approve of that. I was once told if you SHOUT all the tme people will stop listening to you. If you use PROFANITY all the time people will think you are ignorant.

  • i wonder what would these great thinkers say if they saw shitty heads like sarah palin...........they would of thinks hmmmmmmmmm ? these a joke? right

  • i want george washington as president instead of obama.

  • @0neofthem dont we all

  • This scene always makes me emotional. It was beautifully done.

  • I would like to point out that George Washington, whom many consider to be the best President we have ever had, possessed the equivalent of an 8th grade education and was far less educated than his political peers. Yet is was he who was chosen to lead our fledgling nation and established a precedent that has not, as of yet, been repeated. That just goes to show, just because you were educated at Harvard, does not mean you can lead a nation.

  • @dvader001 Washington is considered the second or third best president. Lincoln is always #1 and Washington tends to switch back and forth with FDR.

  • @dvader001 also this was the 18th century...can't really compare the two periods LOL

  • @Ruffneckization Let's remember the difference between academic experience and real-world experience; the two can't really be compared...

  • @dvader001 yes but the importance of the two & what quantity of each is required is important I was making a larger point that you cant make the claim that an 18th century president who presided over 13 colonies didnt need a classical education so THEREFORE it shows that common sense & leadership diminish a harvard education. I would say in today's country of 300 million americans with its complexities we have seen what an uneducated president can do (bush) the results were disastrous

  • @Ruffneckization You think Bush was uneducated? I guess uneducated in the 21st century means you graduated from Yale University and Harvard Business School, were chosen to be a pilot in the U.S. Air Force (One of the most selective and difficult jobs to attain in the military), are fluent in two languages (English and Spanish). I am, by no means, defending Bush because I thought he was an awful POTUS, not as bad as Obama, but quite terrible.

  • @dvader001 lol oh please, he was a recipient of his own form of affirmative action, he went to yale because of his father and was TWO deviation standards below the average, he was a horrible student, a male cheerleader and PLEASE dont bring up the pilot, he was DRAFTED to serve in vietnam but used his fathers connections to wind up ni the "champagne unit", all he had to was show up to learn how to fly a plane, but one of his sessions he missed because he was getting a DUI at the time

  • @dvader001 (cont) bush was a draft dodger, a terrible student and a general f*ck up in life, in contrast to his father, he came into office at one of greatest economic periods in history, left with 19% approval rating, got us into a mess in iraq, botched it (like everything else in his life) got us trillions in debt to the chinese to pay for it, 5000 dead americans,

  • @dvader001 (cont) hundreds of thousands of dead iraqis, he left obama not only with a debacle in iraq but the worst economc since the great depression, again wonder where his 19% approval rating (lowest in history, yes lower nixon) came from he left obama with a mess which he has cleaned up quite admirably under the circumstances, obama raised himself up by his bootstraps excelled at everything he did (like our fathers) bush was an incompetent drunk spoiled brat (like King George iii)

  • @Ruffneckization

    Since Obama took Office:

Price of Gas: Up by 85%

Federal Debt: Bush doubled it in 8 years; Obama can do it in 4!

    Long-Term Unemployed: Up by 146%

    Health Premiums: Up by 23%

Food Stamp Recipients: Up by 13,000,000

Average Home Value: Down by $20,800

The list goes on, sure seems cleaned up to me!

  • @dvader001 uh...yeah he did, we were LOSING tens of thousands of jobs per month before bush left now weve had sustained job creation for 10 months in a row, under bush unemployment rate reached 11 percent, now down to under 9%, economists predict will hit 8 percent in next 6 months, and you do understand basic economics? yes when bush tanks the economy before he leaves it has consequences, such as health care costs (which obamas health care bill will fix thankfully)

  • @dvader001 (cont) bush REALLY screwed up the world before he left, not amateur stuff, obama prevented another depression and disaster and just 3 years later were coming out of the recession, and now have health care reform, first time ever in our nations history. MUCH better than the draft dodger former alcoholic who created trillions in debt because of his incompetent endeavor in iraq, his policy of deregulation and countless other mishaps under his watch, 19% approval rating

  • @Ruffneckization were you always an idiot, or do you just play one on you tube?

  • @WiseGuy5674 it sounds like you're the idiot pal, unless you have something substantive to contribute go away...

  • @Ruffneckization ..LOL! Here's something substantive...your devotion to Barry Soetoro ruins any argument that you make here..I have to admit though..its good for a laugh, Skippy. Keep up the great work.

  • @WiseGuy5674 LOL oh lord im getting called an idiot by the FONZ, someone has told you that you're old and not cool at all right? I hope so because otherwise..um yeah...

  • @dvader001 (cont) within 6 months well be out of iraq and afghanistan for good, our economy has rebounded and were finally coming out of htis recession, thankfully the tea party whackos are dumb enough to nominate newt over romney which will ENSURE an obama reelection and control of congress once more, we can finally get tax cuts middle class and get a fair tax rate on the repubs best friends ("the job creators") LOL those making over a million...4 more years! hah

  • @Ruffneckization Well, it would definitely not be to either of our benefit to continue this debate so I'm going to go ahead and end it here. It is obvious that you have no grasp on reality; I said early on that I'm not a fan of Bush or his policies; I could go all night on the idiocies of Obama's policies (Like the bill he just signed into law allowing the government to detain US citizens indefinitely). You should consider moving to North Korea, I hear they have "free" health care as well!

  • @dvader001 On that one point we do agree, and yes anyone who actually cites Bush's military service (or lack thereof) as something to be admired clearly likes the man, how anyone could possibly be a fan of Nero running the country is beyond me, but to each their own, btw the reference to North Korea made no sense whatsoever, you know where they have free health care? EVERY CIVILIZED country in the western world, which is why our system is ranked slightly ahead of guam..pathetic

  • @Ruffneckization Also, you should probably read up on your history a little more and you might learn that George Washington led the nation through greater challenges than we face today. Have you ever built a sovereign nation from the ground up? I thought not.

  • It amazes me that Washington did not want to be President because he didn't think he was worthy A humble man a bit don't you think?

  • He did a much better job at taking the oath then Obama did haha.

  • Comment removed

  • This made me shed a tear.

  • This is a powerful moment in history!

  • Why is Washington always mumbling and keeping his mouth closed? Because of his wooden teeth, of course! You can tell these guys did their research.

  • Makes me sad sometimes after watching this video and reading comments it sounds like people are still looking around for George Washington to come and carry this country like it was still a child.

Grow up, America. Adams isn't here to spoon feed you anymore. Hamilton won't put money under your pillow and say it was the tooth fairy, Jefferson won't read you bed time stories, Grandpa Franklin won't spoil you, and Washington sure as hell isn't around to hold your hand and teach you to walk.

  • Wow.

  • What scares me is there is only 3k odd views on such an important video showing our roots and how we came to be as a nation. Surely all of the founders would be turning in their graves at current events

  • @Nebraskapatriot1 Nooooooo, they'd be rolling around like chainsaws in their graves @ this state of the USA.

  • @Nebraskapatriot1 they were slave owners....who were atheists mostly and almost everyone of them had illegitimate kids in addition to their real families.... stop acting like they were infallible.

  • Gives me chills.

  • @bigmac573 me too

  • Where is our Government now?,..Look how far we have fallen away from what our founding fathers have created for us to follow????

  • @DDD45LC It already began to fall since that d*** came into office, Richard Nixon. check out Oxygen Thieves and stuff on John Locke.

  • @DDD45LC Even I, a profound nationalistic American patriot, do agree with you sir.

  • @DDD45LC Not all of our founding fathers represent this endearing representation of what our government is supposed to be. That is things like the bill of rights of suppose, among other things. History is a livid, lively, uneventful but manipulated piece of lore that everyone tends to sprinkle with confetti and happy-happy joy joy. Case in point, don't believe all our US history books.

  • @lorthin123 lets also remember one of the things these guys guaranteed in their lawmaking was that black people and Jews were not considered full human beings.... they fought like hell to keep jews out of the country and fought like hell to keep blacks enslaved....except for B Franklin and T Jefferson...who later in life released theirs.....but the rest of the founding fathers? totally for slavery

  • @cliffiez Actually Jefferson fought for the right of slavery adamantly and never released his slaves. As well, he believed in a weak central Government; whereas Franklin thought that the Constitution wouldn't last ten years.

  • @DDD45LC I know...Bush really screwed us when he borrowed so many billions from China....now we are in debt to a communist country

  • @DDD45LC it was too good to be true...eventually the u.s govnt would have somehow been penetrated by people with their selfish goals. such as corporate masters. The only way for the u.s to remain what it is meant to be, we would need revolutions here and there, as thomas jefferson said, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it's natural manure."

  • @DDD45LC You do realize that our founding father's wrote, quite purposefully I might add, and DYNAMIC Constitution do you not? Dynamic meaning that it can be changed to fit the needs of a changing people, of a changing American way of life. Just because we have changed since the days of 1787 doesn't mean we have fallen away from what was created for us to follow.

  • @DDD45LC yeah we don't slavery anymore, all the land is taken and sold so no more homesteading, banks and corporations own everything, middle class that was built in the 40's is now being removed bit by bit by all this and rediculous trade practices exploiting labor over seas and dwindling our opportunities here. I doubt the founding fathers at this time care much of the US, they are in the beyond, their concerns are now different. We currently in the world have that concern now.

  • @DDD45LC You're right! How could we stray so far from their image for us? you know a slave oriented country where only white protestant men could vote and participate in govt while stealing all the land of the indegenous people in our way...such great men, theyre probably looking down on us with shame seeing blacks and women vote...give me a break man

  • God Bless George Washington

  • @426ChallengerHemi the REAL President of the United States. Today we have clowns as President. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe were our TRUE Presidents.

  • @donaldnewton58

Yes ,indeed they were. Id say we would have one hell of a country again if we could find men of that caliber once again, and a bunch of David Crocketts in congress!

  • @426ChallengerHemi I agree give me some great men like Jefferson who slept with his 15 year old slave!!! That's what we need today...men with character

  • @donaldnewton58

    I blame Andrew Jackson.

  • Lets see more Washington scenes please? I havent seen any scenes of him except this one!
