obviousely the nes powerpak does,nt work on clones becouse of poor and/or incomplete emulation, whereas the snes powerpak just works on clone systems.
,m mean is it harder to get the nes accury emulated???
compared with noac clone systems the retro duo has better nes emulation all the way and also works with castlevania3 ,but still does,nt worrk with the nes powerpak, but it does work with the snes powerpak, ,m mean what,s the point???
If you would have read the power pack's description it says it dose not work with any console clones as the method of getting around the lockout chip effects it no doubt. Now if you look at the super power pack the one for the snes it works with console clones.
Not to be rude here, but in effect you are saying, "If you want to play your non-original games on a non-original system, you're out of luck. You can't fake your way into this one." Dare I say try the real thing? Well that sounded rude....oh well.
I'd like to buy a powerpak and I wish it works on my retro duo! I got a super flash card from Tototek and it works on my retro duo (with only a single game uploaded)...
@jameslabrat Yeah, I was kinda hoping it would work too. :)
In all honesty, though, you're probably better off investing in a trusty old NES anyway. The RetroDuo's 8 bit side doesn't emulate sound very well. Besides, there's something really neat about using the PowerPak in a real NES. :)
@espltdm251playa That definitely works. Mine plays pretty much like I always remembered on the SNES. So technically, if you own a Super Gameboy, the Retro Duo can actually emulate three different systems.
@poshko41 it can emulate 3 different versions of snes and nes (nes with some old tec(the famicom converters found in realy old copies of gyromite allow you to play famicom on nes ) also pal snes was easy to mod your snes to playing pal games and if not for those annoying cockblocking plastic tabs on the inside of the snes you could play super famicom games in the first place. The only thing hard about finding a famicom converter is finding a copy of gyromite with it, they are the originals.
@poshko41 From what I heard from a few posts on Digital Press, there is a version 2.0 that it works with. I would certainly like to get my hands on one and find out.
@poshko41 well I think there was just the version 1 and version 2 (mine is a version 2). I never even saw any version 1's online. the colors don't matter (red/yellow, black/red, blue/white, silver/black). I assume you have a version 2 (it says on the box), and if so it doesn't work and that's a pity.
@nullwii The RetroDuo doesn't have a lockout chip so it shouldn't matter, but I have tried the multiple reset trick. Sometimes the screen will change colors after repeatedly powering the console on and off, but otherwise nothing seems to coax it into working.
You've just answered so many questions, now we can put the matter to rest. I've now put out a challenge to anyone who can build an NOAC clone that can play the NES powerpak.

So now the question is... does it work on the RetroDuo v2? I'm guessing not, but I guess that would be the last hope...

@espltdm251playa super game boy does work on the retro duo. I know that because I had one of these, and a super game boy.

There are different versions of the retro duo. Supposedly some work and some dont. You have to have the right one.
JBOPatrick 1 year ago
@JBOPatrick I thought that might be a possibility. Well, I guess I'll have to test a larger sample size for a more accurate result. :P
I really wonder what percentage of them (or if in fact any of them) are compatible.

you might need to use the reset button multiple times with a powerpak, it has a system lockout chip that cycles on resets

This ain't a problem, an older clone from the early 90's called the Super 8 claims to work.
