  • Great playing and a really sad story. Our jazz group used to attempt this in 1957 and we looked up to Humph. If the story is true, how awful for the composer.

  • Amazing playing

  • holy shit! this is amazing

  • Ter...iffic! Wish I could play like that

  • Sorry to say My uncle died in June of this year, very sad. I was at the hospital the afternoon he died. At the funeral a jazz band walked the hurse in to the crem. Bad Penny Blues was mentioned in the service & the controvercy about it, but my uncle never wanted any agro & shrugged his soldiers at the time, he didn't care, although he should of. Littleton then got all the glory. If you are interested, I could send you a copy of his album, he bought out.

  • wow DO YOUR DAD :)))

  • My uncle, Johnny Parker wrote this tune in 1955 whilst in the Humph Littleton band. HL took all the credit for something he did not even create. Good attempt at the tune.

  • @nozeyparker How great to be related to the composer.

This is a fiendishly difficult piece to play - and you're right about Lyttleton - he just took all the credit for the original - the success of which was down to the composer and the pianist on the original recording - who I don't think was even credited on the record. Well done to your uncle - is he still around?

  • My uncle wrote this song, Johnny Parker in about 1955 whilst in the H L band, but H Littleton got all the credit. Good attempt. at the tune

  • made my evening, thanks...

  • inspirable man. im so starting rag now.

  • Excellent. Playing this is very very difficult indeed - not least because one side of your brain has got to keep that left-hand walking base going - and the basic rhythm - whist the right hand has to keep that melody and extemporisation nice and fluid. ...and then they both have to sync together. Well done Bill. Great stuff
