  • a bunch of old farts talking about candy bars do any of you guys have any teeth left? LMFAO!!!!

  • pink panther choc bars were my all time fave along with cramac

  • Those chocolate cups were awesome! I do agree the choc bars arent what they were, eating a 1970's Curly Wurly for example was a humungous task.

  • mmmmmmmmm bar six

  • Who remembers Palm toffee bars? The banana one was a fave of mine

  • When I was a kid the Fry's five centres was called Fry's Boys five, I suppose it was all this girl power and womens lib that changed that

  • Marathon was 4p!! and Frys 3 half pence!!! Geeeezam we must have been poor because i remember wanting the cholate bars but my mum used to give us 2pence each. so i could never afford it and always had to op for the half penny sweets

  • For some reason now you can only get Dream bars occasionally, although I did find one in Japan.

  • Caramac hasn't changed! I used to love Caramacs.

  • So did you remember the taste of the ones you remember??

What idiot renamed Marathon to Snickers, i hated them for that!

  • @PhobiaGuy

The same idiot that turned Treets into m&m's and Opal fruits into starbursts

  • Thank you for confirming that Aero used to come in Strawberry flavour ,cos no one believes me!!! And I am currently eating a bag of the re-launched Galaxy Counters!!

  • @MumOfMerlin Yes in the early/mid 1970's when i was a wee kid there was an Aero Strawberry flavoured chocolate bar,so yes i do believe ya i ate them too, very nice plus the Pink Panther bars were yummy.

  • treets!i knew they were real!

  • Oh and I loved Tweets what a shame they went

  • I remember this song made me laugh - so British mad ! Bless I preferred Rowntree's to Nestle in the days when Britain still had it's own British own Chocolate Manufacturing industry now subsidiaries of other nations

  • Golden Cup's were nice!

  • Who remembers the Bingo bar??It was two sticks same as a Drifter but it was wafer and chopped nuts covered in choc.Mmmm.

  • Where's the Nutty bar lol

  • Cheap in those days compared to what they are now

  • Where was Freddo frog?!!

  • my dad keeps telling me about the cabana bars i have never seen it

  • @KiranTaker270 Cabana bars didn't last very long in the 1980's. Imagine a milk chocolate Bounty with a glace cherry in the middle of the coconut and that, in a choccy bar wrapper, are the basic ingredients for a Cabana bar.

    I hope this helps.

  • @SuperGingernutz Cabana bar had caramel in too.

  • 2p for a bag of maltezers u wouldnt even get 1 for that now

  • Goddamit more stupid brit ads. Only american products are the real mccoy, not this little third world country.

  • @whyteay I beg pardon, Yank?

  • @SuperGingernutz Lol, poxy little synthetic bars that you had to buy with ration coupons; gimme a no nonsense hershey bar over your crap any day.

  • Very good video, I enjoyed being reminded of the days when we got a fair deal !

  • wheres the Topic bar?,

"whats got a hazelnut in every bite" was the musical tagline from the advert,

"squirrel shit" was the answer we gleefully sang as schoolkids when our parents were out of the room

  • Strange to see some of these chocolate bars again. Remember Five Centres with affection...

  • Just typical - blue Bounty bar but not the red

  • Thank you brilliant step back in time to a time when buying a sweetie really was treat !!! and 10p wenta long way !!!

  • loved Golden Cup, and Old Jamaica reminds of going to football with my dad. anyone remember Milk Tray bars, like 8 chocolates stuck together.

  • its a shame they wernt a bango there cos most people i ask cannot remember them

  • This is the first place I've seen a 'Golden Cup' in a looong time. They changed them to a single bar with no segments and a foil wrapper. I actually remember having a 'bar six' it was like a cadburys kit kat, v nice. And THAT milka bar was the PROPER milka bar, not this waxy crap that kraft makes. It was georgeous chocolate and i used to get the prailine bar noone remembers. 'Bitz' few remember too.. gone the way of the 'Logger' and the Tomato flavoured wotsits. Capitalism doesnt work folks.

  • I loved Treets!!! I'm more gobsmacked by the prices though!!!!

  • Not me!

  • Who remembers "Ice Breaker" bars of chocolate

  • @paul1967uk

Google "Jason Liebig's photostream" on photobucket for over 6500 scans of wrappers from the 1970's people!.

    He has the "Ice Breaker"

  • I saw the Bounty bar wrapper. I remember what the wrappers looked like even further back than the one on show. It was plain dark blue for the milk chocolate bounty and dark red for the plain chocolate with the word 'BOUNTY' across the centre. No palm trees in the corner. When I posted my comment about Cadbury's Roses, I meant the current 'variety', not the ones from years ago when there was a variety. Who remembers Macintosh's Weekend choccies in a box?

  • There sure was a fab variety of toffees and chocolates back in the day. I also remember Mint Cracknel - it was like sinking your teeth into minty glassy strands covered with chocolate! I remember Montego bars which were ginger biscuit bars in thick chocolate. Cadbury's Roses are a real let-down - caramel in everything and precious little else! Amazin', Aztecs - yum, yum, yum! BRING THEM BACK ALIVE, CADBURY'S! I also remember the Nutty's!

  • A great collection of images. A lot of those would be big sellers if they came back imo mmmmmmm

  • @chocitout They'd probably be too expensive to be commercial these days. The size and composition of sweets has been debased over the years to try and keep the price down. It would be nice if the manufacturers made the recipes available to specialist makers though. I'm sure they must still have the recipes in a vault somewhere for most of these sweets. I'd happily pay more for my childhood favourites!

  • @dalriada842 yeah I know what you mean. The size and composition has certainly diminished over the years and naturally the price has gone up. I too would pay more for the quality favourites of yesteryear, fortunately as an adult I would have the money to be able to afford them!

  • WOW Strawberry aero. Only remember the mint and orange flavors from the 80s.

  • strawberry flavour aero i remember and pink panthers :)

  • @psycoticbastard = haha! yes, very sweet!

  • @psycoticbastard - yes, I'm struggling to remember that one - but the evidence is there even if our memory isn't!

  • @psycoticbastard very sickly i seem to remember, there was a newsagent shop near me that had some pink chocolate mice, i had to buy some on principle and they were exactly as i remembered them.

  • Sadly didn't see Mint Cracknell there now that was a sweet, everything chocolate now seem to taste waxy to me,and i've just found out even Tootie Fruities aren't the same smaller and just tasting of sugar with no flavour to them.

I'm in shock so it a cuppa and Cadburys Twirl for me waxy or not.

  • @lynnissohot - haha! Yes, a lot of the chocolate & sweets these days have suffered the same fate - poorer in quality, taste and size. I hope your Coffee & Twirl were nice!

  • @gills4thrills Hi "sweetie" i don't play that hard to get when it comes to chocolate, although i'm not fully converted to the high cocoa content ones that seem to be all the rage these days.

Smarties just seem to taste of sugar now and even the tubes not the same as it used to be,but i agree all the way lots of the stuff todays tastes rubbish to what it used to be oh dear i'll have to get the kettle on again to calm me down after that little out-pouring,now where are those Twirls.

    Lynn xXx

  • Haha! Topic!

  • What has a hazelnut in every bite?? There were two answers to that question BTW. The commercial version AND the schoolboy version. lol

  • amazing .takes me back lol

  • @hugodrax - can't say I do remember that one.....who made it? Was it a peanut brittle bar maybe?

  • great video, thanks for posting....does anyone remember Nutty? I was wondering if that was a product of the 70s

  • @hugodrax71 I do. I loved them. And they were from the age of the flares!

  • bar six...bloody hell..forgot about that

  • Possibly.....Lol !

  • thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed the video.

  • That's fantastic!! Nice job.

  • haha! I couldn't find any decent images for Cabana - I'm SO glad you remembered it though - I thought I was the only who did! I loved it - coconut & fruit - really delicious. I wonder why they took it off the market so soon? I'd forgotten about Texan - not one of my favourites I guess, but well remembered by you though!

  • what no texan or cabana's ......

  • yes, I remember every now and again you'd get a solid bar of chocolate in Clubs.....'if you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit join our club'! Do you remember 'Trio'? Nice

  • OMG Caramac.....they just don't taste the same now!!! And Clubs had a serious amount of chocolate...I once had one that was solid chocolate - RESULT!!
