@Sanderrr1994 You can play on ESO too, but it doesn't work flawlessly. And there aren't a lot of people there to play against, since you only can play vs people with the same version.

@MajBlood Prussia didn't become a major power until a rather late point on the timeline, which goes from the 30 years war to the end of the Napoleonic wars. Germany hence represents the German parts of the Holy Roman Empire before Prussia's rise to prominence. They two are quite different in terms of gameplay.

Historically it's difficult to talk about "Germany" because it didn't exist in the sense it does today. By "Germany" you usually mean the parts of the HRE that today constitutes Germany, therefore including Prussia.

I own a MAC, and intend to download Napoleonic Era.

I've heard that, in order to play as any nation you want, you have to delete the content of the AI Folders.

For a MAC, where do I find these folders? Furthermore, when do I delete them? After or before installing the mod?

It might be an issue with the file permissions if you have Windows Vista, you need to "install as administrator" or change the permissions.

1st its Mongols, second its Indians and 3rd its Ottomans, now that may happen because you are not uninstalling the mods right, you have to delete the modded files and then put the original files back, if its a .exe that installs the mod then it should have a uninstall option.

So are Gattling Guns and Ironclads for revolutions in the normal game, being American Civil War tech and all that in the colonization/revolution period, yet I don't hear you complaining about that.

This game isn't so much about accuracy as it is blowing the shit out of other people with cannons and muskets. Hell, half the shit that's available at Imperial probably was totally outdated.

BTW, just so you know, Teutonic Knights are still around today

Well, I personally thought Teutonic Knights were lame back in AOE2. They're freakin' slow, have heavy armor/ light pierce armor. Cavalry archers/handcannoneers ate them.

I didn't know about the ironclad thing, I not a great fan of games. But I find Teutonic knights so lame. I thought they were all slaughtered by the French king during the 13th century? They brought back a carbon copy of it in AOE3.

Well, Teutonic Knights today aren't so much like they were 500 years ago. They are/were an operational organization though, rest assured. Wiki it if you don't believe me.

Oh, i didn't really know. But, during the industrial revolution/napoleonic era, they wouldn't have been dressed/armored like medieval knights wielding heavy clumsy swords. With that amount of equipment, cuirassiers would have been much more cost-effective and useful.

BTW koreans built primitive ironclad ships around 1598. Turtleships, have you heard of them? One of the most popular units in AOE2. Wiki it if you don't believe me =)

AOE3 is an excellent game, but this Teutonic knight is just a carbon copy of AOE2's.

Just as they, today, are remotely different from the medieval Teutonic knights, they must have been also different from their medieval counterpart during 17/18 centuries.

Muskets, artillery could obliterate towns in minutes during that time. With that kind of clumsy armor, they wouldn't even have done well during bayonet charges. Could have been easily countered with muskets.

not entirely the first firearms were not accurate and had a very short effective range... so when knights charged, their armor protected them from the long ranged volleys.. never up close..

when muskets were invented then things changed and full armor was switched 2 a simple breastplate and then no armor as the effective ranged increased so closing the distance faster was more important

They were not Teutonic Knights in the 7 years war they were known as Prussia, the Tuetonic Knights had stoped using knights at the same time with eveyone else, this mod is VERY historicaly inacurate but it's really fun :)

Why are these "12th century crusaders" in the game, they look just like the Teutonic Knights of age of empires 2.

I know the Age of Empires is an educational game series, this idea of adding crusaders to the game is a bit strange.

Imagine crusaders fighting against, say, Napoleonic guard units..

I don't want to castigate the game series too much, but I must say, this concept of "rock-paper-scissors" pervades the AOE series. It's one of the reasons why I got tired of it. Compare it to Starcraft, yes, there are counterunits in SC, but a lot of strategies in SC is about control skills.
