  • I loved this game as a kid too,I grew up with the U.S Version smartball, than i never knew that years later when i played the japanese version,i was surprised that i never knew at first that the storyline was cut when sony image localized this in the U.S

Oh and fun fact, this game was developed by Gamefreak who would later go on to create they're popular pokemon franchise ^^

  • this has great music. real nice melodies from :50 to 1:30

  • Thanks for sharing this retro-gaming experience. Note that some sprites and sounds are the almost the same as in ´blues journey´ a game for the Neo Geo from 1990. Both are GREAT games.

  • Whoaaaaa. We just did a review of this game, had no idea the japanese version has an intro and stuff.

  • IM FREAKING OUT!!!

i got jerry boy for snes

but its for japan so HOW DID I GET IT FOR SNES!!!

unless before smart ball thay really called it jerry boy. weird

  • LOL I got this game for free today. I was at a flea market booth and I bought some other games and the Mexican guy gave me this and some SNES sports games for free.

  • i had to pay 10$ for this game

  • i grew up playin this. its so easy and fun to play. a platformer with loads of style. please bring this to ps3 sony.

  • No...SAAAAAAAAAVES! :/

  • The game isn't even hard.

I beat it when I was 10 years old to be honest. The whole game alone probily takes about a half hour to finish.

  • the U.S. version seems to have a lot cut out of it...still fun though.

  • I may do a play through of this game.

The cut parts were the intro story and that mini town you went through.

  • I remember this game... I never new the story behind being the blob. I like the US version better.

  • I beat the game as a kid. It was pretty easy and fun.

  • Why a smart ball?

  • Yeah it is a shame they took this out. Jerry was turned into a smart ball, It seems kinda goofey.

  • VERY Under rated I love this GAME!!!!!! Soundtrack is the best.

  • They cut out all the story and I think a level or two for the American release. It was called "Smart Ball" in the US. They were CRAZY. This Japanese version rocks!

  • oh my goodness I love this game soo much I miss playing it the music is soo great for its time. this game is way different from the us one wow.

  • Wow, the Japanese version looks better! I really liked this game because of how different it was. I mean, what other games to you stick to surfaces like that?

  • It's a shame the US version took out the mini stage with the vlliage also. As well for the story intro to explain why Jerry was turned into a blob.

  • OMG its a blue matwad from Aqua Teen hunger force. go meatwad go lol

  • I wonder why the intro was left out of the US version.

  • Makes me wonder. PLus the Mini level where you get a hidden 1-up.

  • OMG is that slimey blob reaching up the girl's skirts??? Hehe. This looks like a fun game. I'm gonna have to give it a go.

  • It is a very fun game.

  • They made a Jerry Boy 2? I loved Smartball. I wish the story had been the exact same as in Jerry Boy for the U.S., but oh well. Still a great game.

  • I am gonna do some game plays of Jerry Boy 2 also.

  • looks a bit awkward to handle. is it?

  • GameFreak made this game!

I remember seeing Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori's names in the credits.

I THINK Junichi Masuda but that may be for Jerry Boy 2.

  • I am gonna do a video of Jerry Boy 2 after Cutman.

  • Sadly, Junichi Masuda wasn't the music composer for either of the Jerry Boy games. It was Yasuhiko Fukuda for JB1 and Yoshinori Sunahara for JB2.

  • Thank you for being civil about your correction when I said "I think"

Most people ignore that part and go down to insulting.

Thank goodness SOMEONE "follows the rules" here....

  • As a child I remember a game I played where you played as a blue blob... I wonder if this is the game I'm thinking of...

  • It is. In the US, it was called Smartball.

  • Definitely the game I'm thinking of.

  • Looks fun. ^_^

  • Cute! xD
