Playing this on the emulator somehow I got the alternate path boss without taking the alternate path. I suspect it was from scoring a hefty amount of points. I seem to remember this being possible from playing it as a kid, tho that's what get's confusing about this game + why I love it is all the alternate scenarios that can happen.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the bug. Do you mean this alternate boss you fight by flying through the stone rings? Because I don't consider that as a glitch or bug, just an alternate route you have to use a trick for.

To get 300 kills on Corneria, you need to be able to master a technique called CUSing or Charged Unlocked Shooting. You can see it being done throughout this video.

Basically, you need to unlock Expert mode by getting all the medals in main game mode. Then when you play any level in Expert, you will play as Fox with shades. Pretty cool eh?
@ilovetosing013 if you hit certant areas for enemies you can get that high and sunglasses I read you have to beat the game on expert mode and to get expert mode unlocked you need to get a medal on every single level
Just crash into the boss when he comes from behind basically. If you are at full health at that point, that won't be enough. He comes from above so stay at the top of the screen and you will crash into him. Then boost a bit afterwards and crash into him some more. Then just wait until he fires missiles at you.
I can't remember how I did this exactly as this was so long ago so there might have been something else to do in order for the music to get mixed up. You can try it out by all means.

ok instead of going straight u fly through the waterfall and the boss is the boss from lvl 1 of the original star fox on the super nintendo.
on super nintendo all of the voices sound way better

i think it might work easier if you are on very low health at the time of fighting the boss. I'm not sure though.

Yeah, this has happened to me twice when I killed myself at the boss to spawn back the checkpoint.
It also happened to me at Area 6
