  • you look uncomfortable shifting :( isn't it better with the seat more back?

  • good stuff! I take it that the indicated speed is in km?

  • @modelcitizen72

    Yes speedometer is showing Km/hr

  • this or a 2002 golf gts tdi ??

  • Nice job Driving!

  • Hey, it's Roen on the forums, I ended up driving Shannonville with my friend's BMW 135i instead.

Did you have any mods on this or were you running completely stock including tires?

  • The Insight was stock except for 185/60R13 Toyo RA1 Race compound tires and a modified aftermarket rear torsion bar (anti-sway bar) designed for 3000lb+ VW Jetta.

  • @insightracer I went to Cayuga last weekend, didn't plan to but got the Insight on the track. Passed an old BMW with the stock Potenza's at 60 psi!

  • good lines, race what you got and man, that handles better than Id ever expect

  • Wait....why an Insight?

  • Drive whichever car you got.

    That's what I got.

It's not what you have but how how you use it ;)

Most sports cars are never driven on a track, that's just such a waste.

  • Hmm, but an Insight is an underpowered car. You could do much better with more power. I'm just wondering why you didn't buy a sports car with the money you used to buy the Insight. (i.e. Civic Si)

  • First I bought the Insight then I discovered I could take courses and drive on race tracks. After a few years I bought a 1993 Civic Si modified for the track. See my other videos.

  • FAIL

  • Oh, I was about to say... "Damn, that's one fast Insight"

Well... I guess it /is/ a hell of a lot faster than most people will drive one.

  • that... that's MPH being displayed on the dash, right? not KPH?

  • That's KPH displayed on the dash.

  • u might want to mod the intake, exhaust, etc. to get more power and mpg. also, add 'water for gas'

  • Not worth the money because the Insight would still be low powered. I solved that issue by buying a civic with more then double the power and race suspension etc... see my other videos.

  • well, have u heard of 'water4gas'?

  • whats that

  • water for gas is a kit that turns water into hydrogen and oxygen. the hydrogen then goes into the combustion chamber as fuel, so less gaso.line is needed. it increases mpg, but also power, because it makes the gasolind burn properly, there is less unburnt gasses in the exhaust.

  • LOL. "there goes a porche!"

  • How are you allowed to race cars like this? How much does it cost there? Is there some special license you have to get first?

  • I thought the Honda Insight only has 68 horsepower.

  • The 1L combustion engine is 66 HP alone. But with the electric motor assist the maximum combined power is 73 HP at 5500 RPM and 90 lb-ft of torque at 2000 RPM.

  • What the fuck are you staring at?

    You FAIL at driving!!

  • damn, you know you're low on power when a 1.6L miata starts pullin on you! Nice driving!

  • its because its so light weight and aero dynamic

  • the interior reminds me of an S2000

  • That is completely ridiculous... This car is not made for that, but to save fuel

  • It makes perfect sense (unless you're doing dirt track racing or tractor pulls) because the car is small, lightweight and aerodynamic.

  • lol so true...give the man a break.

He just wants to unleash his "inner-racer" :p

  • where is this track and how much have to pay

  • I dont think its the car. Mabey your just a really good driver.

  • He is a good driver, but you are a horrible speller. You should work on that.

  • awesome man my family has 3 insights and they are awesome cars we have two sticks and one auto with a cvt tras and you cant beat 64 mpgs on the road

  • Is the speedo in KPH?

  • yes, speedometer is in Km/hour

  • lol flipping porche

  • That is a pretty impressive video. I can't wait till more cars like the tesla roadster come out. We will soon see the potential of electric power in racing.

  • damn that porsche scared you lol. what kind of suspension setup are you running? that thing has little body roll

  • My video description lists all the car mods which are very few. Suspension is stock except for adding a very stiff rear torsion bar (rear anti-sway bar). Having a car that only weighs 1880lbs helps with the handling.

  • What tires and brakes were you running

  • 185/60R13 Toyo RA1 race compound tires, stock brake pads and ATE super blue brake fluid.

  • Hey I know you! Great footage inside the car. Have you considered using another camera mounted so it can see the instrument cluster and then superimposing the gauge panel at the corner of the screen? I'm going to be making some Insight videos later this summer and that's my plan...

  • lol then the porsche blasts by and is outa sight in like 2 sec...

  • nice! BTW, SpeedauctionsSuck (yes, on Speed those auction shows suck) apparently doesn't know much about track time.

  • thank you for the Insight action! I have one and it is awesome to see that you track yours!

  • speed auctions suck. Man you are just sore that a honda insight is all over two mx 5's (thats what a miata is called in the uk) leave the guy alone he is clearly using the car to good afect so whats the problem. Oh and do you own a miata by any chance?

  • Because in racing cars crash into each other so rolling is the least of your worries. The roofs of modern cars can easily support the weight of the car when if rolls. (unfortutely SUVs are so heavy they tend to collapse their own roof that's why in America 10,000 SUV drives per year are killed during roll overs). Convertables are not allowed on time trials and many lapping days unless they have a roll bar.

  • You didn't explain how a roll at 120+ is different from when you are racing or lapping. So you think if you roll at 120 - multiple times you will walk away injury free? Good luck Also you wouldn't post this video if you weren't proud of you car *racing* up to other cars.

  • I've been going to track events for 7 years. After all that time I've known of 3 people that have rolled their cars that did not have a roll bar. All those people walked away without injury because they wore helmets. Yes they were lucky, the odds of greater injury is always there.

  • 2 years ago I retired my Insight from track events when my wife and I purchased a 93 civic for track duty. The first thing I did to that car was pay a professional cage builder $1000 to build and install a half cage. If you look at my other videos you will see our civic in action and in some videos my wife is driving.

  • How is a roll that happens during lapping, time trials and track schools different than when you are racing? Doesn't sound very strict to me.

  • No rollcage, no gloves, open face helmet, what type of wreckless event is this? Neon's line isn't even close to being correct...how do they get on the track. Ricers.

  • This was a lapping event, not a race. Lapping events, track schools, and time trials are held on all the tracks in north america. They are hosted by motorsports clubs and have strict rules for safety, such as passing is only only allowed when the lead car signals the car behind to pass on the long straight.

Contact your local motorsports club for more info.

  • Honda Insight great car. To bad Honda technicians were not properly trained to service them.
