its a 4.2 v8 what can ya expect its not supposed to be the quickest car in the world the 5.2 is quicker but like the guy said its an everyday supercar
I like how people comment on how this car is F'ng slow when they will never be able to afford one. I have an 08 with the 6 speed and yes it's not the quickest car to 0-60 but there is sooooo much more to this machine than 0-60. It's the most incredible car I have ever owned. A super car that you can drive everyday. Give me a break.
If the gearbox is what I think it is by the sound of it, it's a DSG, in which case its a superb gearbox (I have one on my Golf GTI) and it truly should be driven in manual mode down a fast road to be believed.
Well sorry for my bad info- what's the benefit of using a single clutch semi auto over a dual clutch one? Obviously there's plenty of dsg 'boxes in the parts bin!
its sth like DSG.. its R-tronic and its crap!... the s-tronic and dsg is rly cool, but the R8 should be driven with the manual gearbox.! in my opinion

forgot how slow the old 4.2l model was. upgrading the to 5.2l v10 was the best choice they did with the r8.

The Audi R8 is as is, there will be upgrades but the design will remain the same, in the future, it will be a vintage car.. great car

The R8 doesn't have DSG. It's R-Tronic. The same found on the Gallardo (E-Gear) and similar to the SMGII of BMW.
R-Tronic is a better version of both: smoother at low speed and less lag between gears.

The R8 has too much power for the DSG at the moment I think. Or there's more driver involvment with R-Tronic, DSG is a bit numb.
