i had this 45 record from the 80 when i migrated upuntil day have this record n more memories is make of music like where are the good music gone;it remind me of my day growing up in jamaica
@mrjoshjones1 Thank you - great to know who's singing. These guys are unreal singers. Walter Gaines is a total bad-ass got that killer bite to his voice. Love "Wait For You" with his lead.
This song has one of the best lyric lines ever written in a song. When he says "Honey what I found in you I ain't found in anyone else. And if the man above made anything better he kept it for himself. What a great lyric.
Oh yea. This song is SO great! I used to go down to Cobo Hall in Detroit and see the Motown Review. The Originals, Temptations, and many others for less than 10 bucks. Good friends of mine (The Hymes Sisters) were "blue-eyed" soul and I just ordered their remastered "Walking Around The Town". Thanks for the trip back to Motown.
Thanks so much for posting. I don't have a turntable anymore, but still have it on vinyl that I haven't heard in years. What a great song. Just soaring.
While listening to XM Radio's Soulstreet channel this morning, I heard this song played. Then I realized that I haven't heard this song on any radio station since I was a preteen in the early 70's. I thank you and XM for the memories.
Just heard this on Soultown XM after probably over 30 years....it bought shivers down my spine.

4 of the most handsome, talented and severly underrated singers ever to grace
a Motown recording studio.
I get chills when I listen to this record over and over and over, always have, always will.

The lead order went like this:
ALL
1-Hank Dixon 1st verse
2-Walter Gaines 2nd verse (Bad-Ass right up there with Marvin Jr of the Dells)
3- C.P. Spencer
4- Freddie Gorman
5- C.P.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Hope to host an Original show very soon, keep you posted,
Agree, Walter's dominating style of "sangin" gets to the point!
Closest I ever heard to Marvin Jr (closer than Teddy Pendergrass).

@mrjoshjones1 RIP, Walter Gaines.

@unclekipper I recently heard about his passing,it was overlooked in the mainstream news.
There will never be another era with the ultra-talent that existed during Walter Gaines' and
the Originals presence, the singing, the songwriting nor the performances,

This record always reminded me of a
Smokey Robinson composition, fella
confessing his love, with 4 part leads.
The Originals had such limited material
until Marvin Gaye produced them.
I think he chose to work with them due
to their great singing abilites, right up there vocally with the Spinners and the
Tempts.
