So sorry that you are having to go through this Jessie. Next time they call you to rush down you can ask if herough this Jessie. is Cheyne-Stoking (chain-stoking) pretty common breathing pattern for someone who is getting ready to pass. Although this can go on for a while. Also ask if is feet and legs are starting to mottle. Which is a sign that the blood is starting to stop circulating there. You prob know this as your mom is a nurse. But I thought it might help.
