  • k, The Capative has a 2GB ROM and this windows phone has 512MB Rom.....

  • @Tamika2Victoria K The Windows Phone is the exact same Model as the captivate. The Windows phone is a different platform, not Android. It all comes down to which is better. After my Captivates shitty ass Android bugs and slowness I traded it in for the Focus. Way better. Just wait till Mango while your still on ancient 2.3 software.

  • Press 1 to "Piss On The Bottle"

Press 2 to "Hack ya home key"

  • look like he doesnt know how to turn up the backlight and yet he is telling us which one is better when he cant even work the damn thing

  • Dude this is lies. The Focus' screen is SO much brighter check out some other reviews.

  • The is no LED Flash on the captivate you suck for a review person!

  • The nice thing about the Focus is pretty much everything is right on the main tile screen, with the Android you have to go through more menus for the same apps

  • LOL Press 5 over and over

  • Samsung focus is my next phone for sure :)

  • the captivate does not have an LED flash...I have the phone..

  • @SushiLuvr89 yea he put up an annotation noting his mistake haha if you didnt see the annotation you were probably on a mobile device. (which mobile phones need to catch up with)

  • Windows Phone 7 ALL THE WAY

  • That's interesting.....my Fiance has a captivate running 2.2 on it and my Focus is faster all around. I do have an SD card in my Focus, which correct me if I'm wrong, is suppose to make it a little bit faster according to Microsoft. That's just what I've heard.

  • Of course the quality is the same they have the same screens

  • if I have wifi at my house, and I dont have a date package, can I still use the internet on these phones without being charged ? (at home)

  • Hold down the windows button for voice command.

  • Love this face-off, but what's a Gigahert? ;)

  • @pauldsingleton a Gigahert is the measurement of speed of the processor. eg: 1Ghz. 1 Gigahert is really fast! it helps in loading pictures / webpages / applications etc.. much faster !. it also improves the overall performance of the phone OS (Operating System). Hope that helped =D

  • @DjMell0 I was teasing, hence the winking smiley. ;) It's Gigahertz, as in one billion hertz, as in one billion cycles per second. There's no singular/plural application. It's always hertz, regardless of quantity. I'm here to help. :)

  • @pauldsingleton LOL tricky ;)

  • hes showing the samsung focus first because when he explains the captivate afterwards it seems like the captivate is copying lol

  • Well that Samsung focus looks fantastic and I think I just made a choice of what phone im going to get :-)

  • android for the fucking WIN!

  • @savior02 trollolololol. Derp, it's all about the new windows 7 phone. The Android 2.0 os is still improving, not really complete yet.

  • @Shadowfury windows phone 7 sales are a complete failure

  • Samsung Focus is beautiful,, and I love WP7,,, Even tough I have iPhone 3g right now,,, but not for long...

  • one is a android and the other is windows phone...the decision is not hard at all

  • Squirrel vaginas...yea.......ssshssslllllp

  • These reviews would be much better if you could overlay some text that lists off all these specs you're reciting. It would make comparing and contrasting the devices much easier

  • the captivate does not have a flash!

  • @colleyty who gives a !@$#^

  • Were you using the AT&T Voice Navigation, or was that a default Android Voice Navigation? Please Reply!

  • Choosing between these two phones tomorrow. THANK YOU!!!

  • @footyspoak what phone did you chose?

  • @starwars910 I chose the captivate. I've had it for a couple weeks now and am really happy with the decision. It's an amazing phone and I'm all for android vs the windows phone. But to each their own..some people love the Focus.

  • I know where you live..

  • u should become a commenter

  • Both phones are good. My brother has the captivate, but im planning to get the focus to try something new. pp does load on captivate faster, but the windows phone 7 OS has the animations that slow it down.

  • So it looks like the samsung galaxy phones are all basically the game, and there are just slight differences depending on which network you happen to be buying on, is this correct?

its the captivate from att, the vibrant on verizon, but they are the same phone right? just some features might vary due to the carriers?

  • I cant wait for a Face off between Iphone 4 VS a Windows Phone 7 device

  • @AmazingMjackson lol iphone 4 ftl ftl ftl

  • he just put up an annotation that there is no flash sp get off his sack

  • And I love your camera.

  • i now know where you live...i will stalk you

  • Just wanted to let you know your a great reviewer.

  • Should do an iPhone 4 against a WP7 device! IP4 vs Samsung Focus? :)

  • i think the focus has 256mb of RAM and 512mb of ROM

  • @Feedfront 512mb

  • Captivate doesn't have flash, is he a robot or something, you can see it clear as day.

  • @MANICDVLN thats why he fixed himslef in the vid

  • the guy doing this bit is stupid the captivate does not have a flash, and if it does where is it.

  • The only app that seemed to take longer was the Youtube app, and that's because the Youtube implementation on WP7 is not very good. All the other apps loaded about equally, the start screen animations on WP7 just take longer to get through.

  • WP7 appers smooth, but it's much slower when it comes to load times for apps, web pages, videos etc.

IMO load times are more important than the touch response. The OS shouldn't just appear to be fast, it should be fast.

I wonder whether Android 2.3 will beat WP7 in both touch response and load times... that would make WP7 (and likewise iOS) look quite pathetic.

  • @drphysx Actually, in reality, the loads times are the same. The difference is in the perception and user experience design. WP7 uses motion to elegantly guide the user through the UI, and the motion is consistent thought the OS. While on Android, nothing is consistent and there is no real thought that goes into UX design, because two companies (Google and Samsung) tried to implement things in different ways and the result is a cluster of different, confusing experiences.

  • Applications open much faster on Android... looks like Android's Dalvik VM delivers considerably better performance than WP7's .NET/Silverlight environment.

  • Um there's no flash on the Samsung Captivate...

  • WP7 is the first O.S thats optimized for S-amoled screens , the blacks background design, the non-clear type font rendering casue it isnt a LCD, and the blocky design to hide the pen-tile problems, WP7+S-AMOLED = amazing experience.

  • @tarunrad AMOLED isn't ready yet, the lower sub-pixel density makes text on AMOLED screens look extremely fuzzy.

LCD screens are much sharper and offer a much better experience for those who read and surf the web a lot, instead of looking at images and videos.

By the way, Android is optimized for AMOLED as well, it has always been. Notice that except for GMaail, all apps have black backbrounds by default.

  • @drphysx actually the text looks sharper on AMOLED screens with Wp7, cause Wp7 does sub-pixel positioning or a different font rendering compared to Android's clear type { which was designed for LCDs} cause the Pentile Matrix system has a different pixel arrangement, this type of rendering makes the text looks really sharp on AMOLED screens, almost like E-ink.

  • @tarunrad That's nonsense. No rendering technique can make up for lacking hardware. Pentile means only 2/3rds of the sub-pixels are there, hence there's no way anything can look sharper on an AMOLED screen.

LCD has a much higher sub-pixel density, high enough to make the rendering technique irrelevant, because your eye can hardly distinguish the pixels anyway.

Current AMOLED screens can't display sharp text, regardless of the OS.

  • @drphysx have you seen a samsung focus in person ? the text on it is amazingly sharp on it. I own a galaxy s and know the problems of pen-tile, but the software plays its part too, on WP7 the text looks much sharper than it does on Android, infact i'd say that it's as sharp as a LCD.

  • @drphysx You don't know what your talking about... you keep looking and specs and shit but purchase a samsung phone with a super-amoled screen and you will it might even better.

  • @drphysx lcd lacks the color richness super amoled has. and lcd screen looks washed out compared to a super amoled.

  • the focus doesn't take full advantage of the 4" screen... lots of empty space

  • I really wish Microsoft would have opted for hummingbird processors.

  • @rayjones09 does it matter , the focus looks more responsive despite using a slower chip, Microsoft ave really done a great job optimizing the software to run buttery smooth , the touch response is almost perfect.

  • Galaxy S with LED flash?? Im afraid not.

  • There is voice input in WP7. If you press and hold the windows key for couple of seconds, tellme app activates and you can say mcdonalds which will display local results by default showing you the nearest mcdonalds to you.
