Sometimes I make burgers and fries (from scratch), most of the time I make healthy stuff like roasted chicken and salad. It isn't hard to cook simple food from scratch. Like this vid shows, you don't have to spend $13 at McD's for 2 meals, make your own big macs. It's easy.

i worked in a Macdonald in holland. And the sauce they use for a big mac is very special you cant buy it in a store or something. But your big mac looks reall and tastfull :). Wish i can get a bite from it :)

I love how its 'not that bad' yet you use a low grade beef (80/20) and cook them in oil. Then you use 3 tablespoons of mayo. Those combined are almost 700 calories and 55 grams of fat (without the cheese or bun). Just to compare the original big mac at McDonalds is 540 calories and 29 grams of fat with everything. Next time grill a lean beef like 90/10 and use a low fat mayo and you'll cut your calories more than in half

It's definitely prepared and cooked to a healthier standard than Mc D's, but its probably still about 1/3rd of the average persons daily calorie intake, which is where the obesity problem comes from. Fats & cholesterol aren't bad for you, they're a part of a balanced diet just like any other food, the problem is the calorie content of the food.
