did they say allegheny county? but idk if its the same county i live in but, the average fire response for my station is about 9 mins, and to ackknowledge the call take 5 mins from disbatch..
At 2:12 in the video, Mr. James O. Page mentions that "... you are probably more likely to survive a cardiac arrest in Fremont, etc, than anywhere else in the world..."
Not true, considering that the Seattle/King County EMS System (known as Medic One) has had the highest survival rate anywhere. That's for witnessed collapse (with Pt. in VF) to patient discharge.
Wow, great video. The end definately choked me up. Too bad it had to be made for this. This was a total loss for the citizens and fire personnel of Fremont. It's always frustratng when politicians make careless and incompetent decisions that will have a negative impact on the citizens.
Excellent tribute to our great dispatchers in the fire service. Not often mentioned - these people save lives. Now as I write I see this is their last day? Not good. I prefer dispatchers staying within the department, not county wide which I suspect happened. Im a retired Captain from Woodside Ca and know that Fremont has had a GREAT reputation for excellent dispatching and fire supression. Excellent production Photo1.
Thanks for checking it out, this was played at the 2005 retirement dinner for local 1689. All of the dispatchers were in attendance. It was a dark day for Fremont when we lost Fire Alarm, the sad truth is it was a political decision and has had a negative impact on response times. They were the BEST and are sorely missed.
Yes they did, and now response times are less then half from Alco, who has taken on ambulance dispatching too...

This was the best fire dispatch center in Northern California. They set the standards.
