I suppose she did ok. She left the Springfields and went it alone.I was too young to understand why she left the uk and tried to come back later. Maybe me.
I saw that on a PBS special about soul music they featured Dionne Warwick. Good singer, of course but soul singer, no way. That got me thinking. Why do we keep separating people according to how they look? This lady had just as much soul as Aretha, yet she doesn't get the acknowledgment. She may have been "white" but she sure as heck embodied the mindset of soul music. Dusty forever
@jilhal24 I don\t care what you say. Dusty had some mad skills. In my opinion, she kicked the Door Open for every Single British Blue Eyed Soul Singer from Duffy, Adele, Joss Stone, Jessie J, Lisa Stansfield and of course Amy Winehouse R.I.P.
For a square gal she is too cool. I recently sampled audio of her TV show circa late 1968 via youtube. Jimi Hendix was her musical guest. He performed two of his own items (Stone Free, Voodoo Child Slight Return), and a duet with Dusty, Mocking Bird. He takes a simple pop tune and turns it into pimp stomping r&b metalic funk. Big ups to Miss Dusty for giving a platform to Jimi, the singularly most talented instrumental virtuoso since John Coltrane, Dusty is real and truly respects black music,
she is without a doubt the greatest female vocalist of all time...bar none!! what a great rendition of the curtis mayfield song. wow!! we miss her so much!

I was there and somehow I missed Dusty Springfield. She has excellent pipes, beautiful voice and well trained.
Based on the background pictures of what the guys are wearing, I would guess they started in the late '50's/early '60's.
