@BlueCrystal021 - Yes but you seem to have avoided the fact that to get a same specced Beamer or VW compared to the Prius gen3 - heads up display, cruise control, keyless entry etc etc.. will cost a large amount more!

I get 58 to 60 mpg on the daily 100 miles to and from work with my Gen2.

Beside the VW pasat Bluemotion is a 1.6 litre and sucks for performance:

Ionized air also usually means Ozone, which is bad for you.

@EatmyDust1311 Yeah but if I wanted a stinky deisel I would have bought one.. In fact I sold my 2.2 deisel turbo Avensis to get a Prius... :-)

@TeamYankee2 if you want to save oney, buy a diesel they are cheaper and get better gas mileage than any current hybrid. if you want a huge snob car, and want to look like your saving the earth buy a pos prius. its a horrble car by any standard exept for snob appeal

VW and BMW all have clean deisel which doesn't have the typical black smoke, produces less co2 and sounds like a petrol... sorry, but your prius is far more taxing on the environment than most cars (all hybrids are)... diesel can also run on bio- disel : )

@BlueCrystal021 the only good hybrid will be the volt. the car the prius always should have been. but the super efficient (60 mpg+) deisels are only available in europe, cuz in 'merica diesels are for trucks!

@BlueCrystal021 the cr-x is pretty neat too... you can get a VW diesel in america but they aren't as good as the ones in europe (blame EPA restrictions and such)
