  • Cute KITTY! My tortie 's name is Galaxy- she has black under her chin instead of white like your Cici.

Oh, HI Marissa 2!! Guess who? (c:

  • @dharmaseed Mine as well. The term Chatty Cathy (and what a doll Coco is) has always been a favourite. She out talks me...really tough to do.

  • She is the spitting image of a torti that calls to our house, even down to the stripe down the nose.I have a few videos of her up here check them out.

  • She's chirping! <3

  • a few weeks from now mine *honey* she talks to me when were out side or in, definatly if its feeding time, she thinks my iced coffee is her food, she does not need the coffee because she bolts halfway arround the house like 20 times. but when i walk in the house still she runs away *im the only 1 whos home first* but yea i call her before i get in.

  • Never met a tortie that wasn;t a chatty Cathy. Most of them are very expressive, as well.

  • I think I have a torti as well. Her name is Oreo because of her colors. She has a cream line going up her nose to her eyes and a redish-creamish color above one eye. she is mainly black with random brownish markings on her, with a partial white stomach and white back left paw on the bottom. I never knew what she was and my vet never told me so i decided to look it up. i went to about 4 or 5 websites just to figure it out!

My cat always wants my attention and no one elses. (pt 1)

  • @marilyn6manson6 I've been told that any patch of white, no matter how big or small, makes the cat a Calico and not a Tortie. However, both our Tortie's have a patch of white the size of a penny - so I say it doesn't count and they are sill Tortie's :)

Usually Calico's are mainly white with splodges of brown, tan, and black or grey etc

  • @JimandLynMobley if you wanna get technical, they're all calicos then, becuase those terms just describe the phenotype of having white splotches that 'overwrite' some of the black and orange ... they're all adorable, though... and most have a hilarious talkative quirkiness to them =P

  • @marilyn6manson6 she doesn't like my boyfriend and the only people she'll let pick her up is me and my dad. if i am gone for too long she'll snuggle up with anyone. The only time she meows is when she wants to go outside or she wants food. also, when she does go outside, this bird that i call Robert attacks her. she chats with him at the window but out there she gets her butt kicked. after a while, the bird started attacking my dog and grandmother, so my dad had to shoot it down..

    is it unusual

  • @marilyn6manson6 is it unusual for this specific type of cat to not fight birds and actually run from them?

  • @marilyn6manson6 well the thing about Tortie's is that they are special :) so I wouldn't term any description as unusual for a Tortie! However, that is a bit odd, but then I've seen videos of birds attacking cats - usually when they have nests to protect; they can be quite territorial over a large area, and I have had a wild bird keep flying at me because I was walking by its nest so I can understand that this could freak out a cat.

  • Our tortie offers the top of her head to be smoothed too, I wonder if it is a tortie thing?

  • oh what a beautiful tortie <3 very simaler to mine! Ollie, but Ollies got an pink nose

  • aww she is so cute! I have a tortoiseshell cat too :-)

  • I have a tortie just like yours, her name is Petunia. She's a real sweetheart

  • she's such a funny bunny!

  • I'm so sorry for your loss... We lost our tortie eight years ago and we miss her so much....

  • aww so cute !

  • Zoe, my torti calico I rescued, meows when I try to sneak up on her, I never can. Zoe is interested in everything, food, or whatever, my food that is.

  • tortoiseshell or tortie is just a color not a breed

  • Just like my cat Petunia

  • torties are so cute...yours has a big vocabulary,,,adorable...

  • I have a long hair Tortie and boy does she like to talk also.. Shes a nosey rosie too.. My torties name is Trixy..

  • She's so cute! I love her little chirps. One of my sisters had a Japanese Bobtail named CiCi. Such personality this tortie has! Her markings are gorgeous.

  • Torties have a LOT of personality, sometimes good, sometimes bad. Usually both though lol. Our cat Mittens was a generally friendly cat, but she only *really* liked my wife. Anyone else could pet her few moments before she decided enough was enough, and gave you a nice chomp on the hand, lol.

  • @CyricD sounds liike my torti! she only likes my mom and lets people pet her for a while but when shes done you get a chomp on the wrist! That;s why we're getting a kitten that likes me hopefully. lol

  • i got a cat like yours, shes pretty talkative also a rescued cat, gota question, is that breed skitish towards other people/animals? because we had her a few months and has settled down but still scared out of her socks when i come home/ect we dont know y

  • @Divixons gonna write this in two parts cos there's not enough room; I don't think it's much to do with their breed, but rather their treatment by other humans before we have the pleasure of taking them home. Cici here is not afraid of strangers or other cats / dogs, however, our other Torti was frightened of her own shadow when we first got her. She would hide if anyone else came in the house other than us; she's got much better at this now and sometimes even greets our visitors. Continued ....

  • @Divixons . We have figured out, though, that whoever mistreated her was a large man with a baseball cap, boots, a belt, and a pick-up truck! It's just how she responds to those things; she still freaks if my husband doesn't take his boots off in the garage before walking through the house and he has to call her so she knows it's him. She doesn't seem frightened of his pick-up cos it's a small one but freaks if a big one drives down the street and she's sitting in the window. Continued ...

  • @Divixons She used to scat from the window and hide, but now she just backs off a bit so whatever happened to her is becoming a distant memory but still enough to unsettle her. Probably, something similar happened to your cat before you got her, so she still reacts like that when you enter the house; you might try calling her name before you open the door then enter gently and quietly, then pet her as the first thing you do. You might have to do this for a while before she gets over it. HTH :)

  • @Divixons ive owned my torti for three years, the first few months was super friendly to everyone; now she hates every one and any one except me and my gf....this breed of cats is one of the most moody and protective.....

  • @Divixons Actually, tortie is not a breed. It's just a colour pattern, like tabby or calico. Torties are almost exclusively female.

  • My tortie Sephi was very chatty as well. One in a while, we could even have lengthy 'conversations' for several minutes. I buried her 3 nights ago after loving her for 16 years. My heart isn't even done breaking yet. I miss her so much. =( What I wouldn't give to hear her sweet little voice and to kiss her sweet little head once more. T T

  • @lormendi That's very sad :( I feel your tears . . .

  • @JimandLynMobley :-(((((((((( I'm so sorry

  • @BlackLily888 I think you meant to reply to lormendi about his / her tortie Sephi. Isn't it sad? :(

  • @lormendi I used to have a torti cat too. her name was Mungo and she was the sweetest little thing, altho she was a little annoying.but,I got a new one named Lexie.

  • omg Cici looks exactly like my tortie. Same markings, facial features, everything.

  • We have a one year old Tortie and she got a cold after she had hysterectomy stitches removed last year, and another little cold this Winter. I use a vitamin cream I bught at the Vet's called "Enisyl-F", which contains B vitamins and cod liver oil - gave her 2-3 "depressions" (push-button can of cream; each depression is about 1 tsp.) daily at intervals until the cold went away. It works wonders.

This makes me wonder now if Torties are more susceptible to colds?

  • she totally just winked at me

  • Aaaaw, she sound like a squeeky-toy :3

  • OMG soooo cute!!! I want your cat!!!! :D

  • @chrisstrudley Har! Cici says you may adore her from afar :D

  • LOL. My tortoiseshell Maggie does that exact same stink-eye expression when she's grumpy. Lots of personality.

  • @greenfreek88 Actually that's her 'weak eye'; if she gets a bit of a cold that's the eye that gets gunky. But still, lots of personality - seems the norm for torti's doesn't it?

  • Interesting info about this particular breed indeed! I have a cat that makes that squawking sounds too...hahaha

Thanks uncle Jim, that was cool.

  • I have a tortoise shell and I love her to death. I rescued her when she was about a year old and she's the best cat I've ever had. :D

  • She's adorable! My tortie Calypso is also a talker. Aren't torties the best?! :)

  • I have a Tortoise shell lil girl, she is soooo quiet though. She only talks when she wants food.

  • There are a few male Torties here and there, but they are extremely rare (no, I don't mean to rhyme)

    Male Torties are always sterile.

  • she is a lovely puss she winks as well!!

  • I have a tortie as well. She sounds just like your cat, and she gets up on my shoulder exactly like in this video;) I didn't know about the breed until I found her, I rescued her from a shelter...love her to death<3

  • I wasn't a cat person until I dated someone with a tortie like yours - she's adorable! Now I have a longhaired torbie, which is a tortoiseshell with tabby markings. She's bratty and demanding but very sweet. Torties/torbies definitely have an attitude.

  • Man thats looks just lke my Torti

  • Is this a breed I'm sorry for being a nub but is it my family still docent know out cat looks exactly like yours :3

  • @blooshla Yes, a 'Tortoishell' is kind of a breed. They just 'come out', as in - you can't breed them, and they are always females; they are kind of special. You will never find a male tortoishell cat. Also, if they have any white on them at all, then they are a Calico; a Calico is similar to a Torti but with white, sometimes lots or mostly white.

Torti's seem to be special in the fact that you can't breed them and (I think) cos of that, they mostly seem to be bratty! ( or 'special' :) )

  • @JimandLynMobley I have the most LOVING tortie. Her name is Cooper. [My mom named her before we learned all tri colored cats are female]. She LOVES to snuggle and just be friendly. Best cat EVER!

  • @blooshla There are some VERY rare Torti Tomcats, but they are mostly all sterile. They are the result of a genetic mutation in the womb. They have XXY chromosomes ( instead of the normal XY for a male ) - this gives them the markings of the Tortie.

Tortie cats are said to bring good luck to your home.

  • @MrPinksBane we stand corrected! Thank you for that info :)

  • @JimandLynMobley Emphasize the rare on male torties, my vet has only seen one in her 30 years of experience and that's rare, apparently most vets never see male torties.

My tortie Kate (female) is quite a talker too XD

  • my cat maple. we got her for free on craigslist. we called her maple cuz she was on a street named that. i love her so much. i just found out what she was last week. she meows like your cat, when she see a fly. lol what do you have to do to make your cat talk like that?

  • @951tinker She just talks! We talk to her and she squeaks back at us most of the time. Sometimes it seems like she says a whole sentance! she's pretty adorable . . . .

  • awww, you gotta love kitties with the squinty eye! My 16 year old tabby Juliet does that all the time and whines very VERY loudly compared to your little princess! lol

  • I have one that looks a lot like this and she is really old, about 17 we think. she constantly meows at you if she wants attention but he meow sounds much lower and kind of cranky, lol, but she is always purring through her meow, which is makes it sound so odd. Love tortoise shell cats though, the coloring is so cute.

  • I found a cat that looks almost just like this except her nose is pink on my patio with her 7 kittens. She's the sweetest little thing and I know she used to be somebody's pet. I'd take her in and raise her myself if I could, but I already have a cat and it's a one cat rule for my apartment. Hopefully she'll get adopted soon.

  • 0:48 why do cats wink? I used to pretend my cat was trying to communicate something sneaky

  • Too cute! I recently adopted two cats, my first pets..ever! One is a long haired torti and the other is..who knows, but looks like a mix between torti and calico. I'm definitely a cat convert!!

  • This is sooo typical of a tortie. Mine talks all the time! My favourite cats are torties, there personalities are non like other cats. Love them! Check out my channel to see my tortoise shell :)

  • Aww she's beautiful!

Reminds me of my torti, she makes little noises that sound like shes quacking.

  • Heh, I thought my tortie was the only one with a squeaky high-pitched meow.

  • @KuriboJoe no way dude, my tortie didn't meow for real till she was almost 10 months old and even know she usually just squeaks or chirps :) gotta love those weirdly vocal kittens

  • she looks like my Crissy hehe cute

  • cute cat...

  • i love torties, i have 1 at home right now, and she is sooooo cute.

  • Very, very sweet ... This cat is outstanding! :-)

  • Beautiful Torti cat.

  • She's gorgeous! I like her markings!

She reminds me of an Impressionist painting.

  • She squeaks!!!!

  • So funny! :)

  • Its cute

  • She's so cute, I have a tortie too, and Cici's voice sounds like my siamese's voice. The siamese one is the most loving cat I ever had, she purrs so loud when is in company of any person that it's near her.

  • Torties are the best! She's precious. Looks like my girl.

  • This is a lovely cat - these cats are an acquired taste - I have one but I didn't choose it - it was such an ugly kitten I didn't want it but my boyfriend said we had to take it or nobody would. I will never judge a cat on appearances again because she is amazingly affectionate.

  • Your beautiful tortie reminds me of mine back home! I'm away at college, and my cat is with my parents at home. Even though their house is only 40 minutes away, I still miss waking up to her little face so much! I love my Darcy! Thanks for posting this. How old is your little girl? :)

  • She was 'buy one get one free' at the humane society :) so her age is a guess. About 6, we think.

  • @PiNkLoLiPoPs omg, did you just copy paste my mind? I had to leave my tortie with my parents since I'm going back to the dorms in college. She would always accompany to bed every night and I miss her a lot. She's an hour and a half away, but I know it's years to her. My tortie girl is almost three now, and my family is completely in love with her. Might be hard to get her back when I graduate!

  • its my favorite vid so far for 2010 its so brillant more please

    love skodas aka andy

  • my tortie is pretty vocal too!

  • There doesn't seem to be a tortoiseshell on the face of this earth who isn't chatty. The squeaks were cute, tho.

  • What a cutie~

She sounds so cute XD My torti loves to purr all of the time!!! She purrs more than she meows, lol! I've had my kitty for almost 4 years now, and I love her to death!!

  • she is a very beautiful cat:) i love tortis!!

  • Yay! :) Purring is a "happiness overflow" prrrrr!

  • I am glad you got you cat back. My tortie just passed away and I am still working through it :'(

  • :( That makes me sad to hear that! I have a Tortie and she is the best cat I have ever had! She is two now and she is an inside cat. Whenever she gets out I have a nervous breakdown and I go crazy! She usually stays gone for 7 hours and once she went down th sewer! I went crazy! I love my Tortie and thank God she has not gotten out in a long time and I hope she never will ever again! Good luck with yours! :)

  • @paulorphan Did she come back? I hope so!

  • how does your take getting picked up that well because I know tortis hate getting picked up

  • Actually both our tortis pretty much like being picked up :) but they are both furry brats, as you would expect from Tortis . . .

  • What a honey!

My torti, Shadow, is very talkative as well.

Loves to be in covered places, ex: dresser drawers, cupboards, under theblankets..

Wouldn't trade her for anything <3

Had her for 10 years, hopefully another 10 more :)

  • My tortie is very talkative too.

  • Do all torties chirp rather than meow? Mine sounds just like this one.

  • Apparently not; our other Torti meows normally :)

  • i have a little torti kitten and shes so adorable her name is Tobi

  • omg its such a cutie cat xD hehe and made me ggigle cuz of its cute meow

  • aw this reminds me of my tortie teefus she talks and talks

  • My Tortie is 3 and her name is Clhoe' and she talks and talks and chirps alot to, and loves to run around back and fourth always after eating...very loving and adorable and gives lots of love (Groomes herself alot) but we will keep her forever.

  • We have 2 torties and I wanted to call them Chloe and Zoe but my husband didn't like the names much. So we gave them Hungarian names; Cici is the Hungarian short-form for Cica, which means 'Kitty'. The other rascal's name is Macska, which means 'Cat'. Deeply profound, I know! The short-form for Macska is Macski, at least it is in our house :) Hungarians do that alot with names.

  • My tortiShell is 11, she is called Stella shes vishus but nice

  • my tortie and white barely ever talks or chirps, i wish she did...but she is the princess, with tons of tortitude!!!

  • Love the word tortitude!:-) That sums up our Cassi to lol.She is just under two and just a real princess lol yes with tortitude!:-)

  • so precious, i'm in love. torties r da best!!

  • My cat chewy has almost the same face.. its creepy. Add me as a friend and Ill send you it! They may be long lost sisters! :D

  • Hi danc3bab305, we watched the clip of Chewy :) there is quite a resemblence! Tortis are certainly special aren't they? If you don't mind, we won't add you as friend - we're not so competent with Youtube. However, we really appreiciate your comment; I tell Cici how much she is viewed and adored around the world but she ignores me since she is only concerned about wotever she happens to be obessed with at the time, which is usually riding on my husband's shoulders like big, Torti fur-collar :)

  • Aw! So cute =D

  • my tortie miyako mostly just scolds me, but yea, she loves to talk..

  • i love this!!!shes a star

  • She is adorable and speaks soooo well too. Cici and Mac the cat would have a long conversation. Mac stops talking when I turn the camera on unfortunately.

  • Hehe I'm putting this on my favorites! I love it..and I love tortie kitties!! Mine talks alot, too. I'm beginning to think it really may be a tortie thing, too moonbeam. :)

  • Oh my god, that was sooo funny. My torti used to sit on my shoulder just like that, winking and chirping. So weird...I wonder if that is a torti thing!! Whenever I told her "no" she'd storm out of the room, back-talking all the way! lol

  • Very cute!

  • What a precious and beautiful girl. :)

  • Squeak! Too cute.
