  • wait, why is going to the knee so bad in mma? i'm a wrestler and I find that dropping to the knee makes you twice as fast and gives you way more potential for lifting him

  • Ridiculous, in real life, the dude just grabs you by the neck, so you can't throw him or you'll bash your head on the floor, and the dude just strangles you...

  • @MrRedtoxic You're talking about the guillotine choke? You realize that there are ways to avoid and escape the choke when going for a double leg, right? And the same styles that practice the guillotine choke also practice the double-leg takedown, so obviously the choke doesn't totally nullify this technique's effectiveness.

  • do those numbers mean anything?

    0:44

  • Learned it like a boss

  • the guy who was teaching the techniques looks like the main actor from Class of Nuke 'em High 2

  • Josh Barnett, heh.

  • which martial art is this, this technique only

  • First thing I am learning in wrestling!!!

  • Comment removed

  • cool!

  • gotta love the equations that mean fuck all lmao

  • Will this still work if the guy you're fighting weights more then you?

  • @shanis81 yes.

  • @vidjunkiej You are not going to be able to pull off a double leg like this on a opponent who out weighs you considerably. Yes the Double could still be performed but not exactly in the same way.

  • is this judo or jujitsu or something eles

  • @devilasskicker its wrestling

  • LOL BARNEtt

  • bad animation...

  • First fight I ever got in I had a guy charge me and I shot in for the double and slammed him on a pile of sticks. It ripped his nut sack wide open. That was the end of that fight.

  • @jackcustow Jesus Christ.

  • youre not supposed to duck down and just grab.. you're supposed to change elevation, drop to a knee and penertrate , then step and push with the other leg

  • You only pull off good take downs if people arent ready for them... alot of people do them horribly and try to force the move. If you get the opportunity to drop someone in mid air... It can do plenty of damage. If they bjj, just drop them. Why go down to the ground?

  • that double leg is shitty, you should step in, then with your lead leg go on your knee, in a sense to get them on your shoulder more, then with your hind leg bring it up to the side and lift, once you get them in the air you own them.

  • this one will not really work all the time, but it is a good technique. ass soon as possible i will put a better video of what i think is a way better technique

  • his head has to be pressed against the opponents side/hip hard to guillotine

  • @chopzncutz sprawl anaconda, dorse your go for guillotine again by pulling him into your guard while mainting grip around his neck

  • @damuschka Fuck man Anaconda is my favourite choke from the sprawl, works every time

  • killerneon302 agreed. he doesnt even shoot. he just reaches. thts a horrible shot and good luck with taking anyone down with that.

  • this is definetly not how to do a double leg. a true double leg is to put your head into their gut and grab the inside of their knees. if you do it like the guy did it in here, he could easily put you in a guillotine.

  • @killerneon302 that's illegal. and dangerous. and he WAS grabbing the inside of his opponent's knees.

  • @killerneon302

ya ramming your head into someones gut will get you spoon fed for the rest of your life cause youll break your neck. What your SUPPOSED to do is keep your head tight against his hips so you dont get guillotined and then grab the back of his knees and push. once your done with that move to the side for side countrol and thats and easy 5 points depeneds on the scoring though

  • @killerneon302 I'm not a wrestler, but in BJJ, you hit them in the stomach only for a single leg. For a double leg, head is on the outside and use the head to push sideways while pulling with your arms in the opposite direction.

  • @OColourScene You are correct, in a double leg you are supposed to put your head to the outside. However the only exception is on a blast double when you use your head as a lever against their chest

  • who just said this doesnt work in the mma? are you retarded? or do you not watch UFC or any of that? double leg takedown is one of the MOST common take downs.

  • I'm having a lot of trouble executing these. It often ends up with me push for dear life for my opponent to drop. Any key points to this? Thanks :D

  • @gkdrummerboy There are different versions of a double leg takedown...the one in that video elevates opponents in the air. If you are small...not a good idea to do that against a bigger opponent. Try a DRIVING double leg takedown...it's more leverage base.

  • @gkdrummerboy turn the corner, get perpendicular to your opponent

  • the guy demonstrating the takedown looks allot like matt hughes from the ufc

  • @shawnkoolman1 Its Josh Barnett, one of the top heavyweights in the world.

  • josh barnet

  • Not very effective on fighters like BJ Penn.

  • i thought that was matt hughes for a second

  • steroids

  • great move, but not for me. Im usually taller than the people I roll with, so getting lower than them is rather difficult. Personally I favor leg sweeps where they are on the ground and im still standing.

  • a takedown usually ends most street fights though

  • the only thing is it's so easy to counter with a guillotine

  • @StephenHardyMusic Not easy, especially if you lose position and get side mounted... no more guillotine from that angle. Guillotines are kinda hard to land on a decent opponent. Bottom line is, position over submission.

  • Double leg isn't my favorite move. I prefer the snake. It's where you have head control an you sprawl really hard and practically bounce their head off of the mat and then you do like a kind of underhook thingy on one arm and then you spin them over into side control. But it's really hard to get into a dominant position to where you can do that except in high school wrestling. So I guess I have to learn the double leg like everyone else.

  • Nice but in formula they equals kinetic energy 1/2*m*v*v that is Kg*m*m/(s *s) to momentum that is m*h (or the job m*h*t) that are all different things!

  • Funny thing is that BJJ makes up a part of the Marine's martial arts program.

  • Did you seriously just write that a double-leg takedown won't work in MMA?

  • @Theyellowma i think he did hahahaha!

  • @Theyellowma LOL

  • lol

  • Fuck is wrong with you?

MMA is a fucking sport you prick, no shit.

You just made yourself look like a dumbass.

  • Your a phony, I guarantee you have never served your country so dont play that card

  • i want you to go die in a combat zone you dickhead.....you just sound retarded for leaving a comment like that?

  • In freestyle wrestling, I don't think you're allowed to slam your opponent down like that.. I think you have to break their fall.

Well, at least in high school wrestling.

  • @604Aron do you? im startin free style since my season is over, so im not familiar with the rules of it.

  • yeah so he tested postivie again..but josh is a damn good pancrase wreslter. only one of few to hold ufc title, and pancrase title

  • sterioid freak is teaching mma? what he know about mma Lol just teach people how to take steriod

  • well actually if its not done rite u will fuck up on it so it can be kinda if a trick to it

  • double leg takedown is atleast the EASYEST move

  • At least "Easiest" is an easy word for most people.

  • none of you know what the fuck your talking about and its not mma its american wrestling

  • king: with a name like that im sure u dont have to be told this IS mma which includes wresteling. also, its set up with a jab hence Mixed....

  • LOL at calling it AMERICAN wrestling. Wrestling originated in Greece dip shit...hahaha.

  • Wrestling was invented as a form of combat for people wearing armor, what your thinking of is gay sex

  • by the way the best grapplers in the world destroy boxing so get ur facts straight before u start running ur mouth

  • you think wat u want thats ur opinion

  • LOL...real men = the destroyer...the fag is the one who took an ass whipping... = U.

  • Blacks were enslaved = the bitch of civilized world. What type of real man took thousands of years before he stop being a bitch of the white man? And that's cause the whiteys felt bad. LOL.

  • ha. i dont feel like destorying u it goes deeper than what you can comprehend. just know it wasnt by your own power and your race is inferior in everyway physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, your eyes, your hair, your skin, your bones, your digestive system, immune system wow ect ect...... proven historically, scientifically, and biblically. go kill yourself like u ppl usually do.dont get mad at me because you hate your brother and treat him like a stranger.your ppl r destroyn da eart

  • LOL? Here's another black pride asshole... Listen kid, I'm not exactly sure what your thinking, but first of all you blacks are far from being physically strong people, there's a reason powerlifting and wrestling in a white mans sport, the most powerful men are NOT black. Black people are just good at skinny man sports like running and basketball. And then you say mentally, I don't know wtf your thinking, but blacks have the lowest average education level on the planet, think about it kid.

  • @SunDownPoint Anderson silva anybody? Bahaha What a retard!

  • Next point, emotionally and spiritually? Do we really have to go into that? Blacks not only have the most uneducated average of people on earth but they also have the highest percentage of criminals of any other race. Please tell me how you blacks are superior in the emotional and spiritual department? Spiritual people do not partake in criminal acts... Now as for the other shit, blacks have enough health problems that I wouldn't say they have an advantage at anything. Prostate cancer, HBP? etc.

  • @atran35 the only reason they stopped being our bitch is cuz we didnt want them around anymore

  • American wrestling is an alternate term for Collegiate wrestling, so he wasn't wrong.

  • it is mma because mma stands for mixed martial arts and american wrestling is in the mma catagory

  • greco-roman its the most popular for. of wrestling in the united states

  • No it is not.

  • its the form most states wrestle that and freestyle but freestyle has greko roots but all forms of grappling based combative sports have alot of the same style

  • You're thinking of folkstyle wrestling.

  • there are to many forms of wrestling lol

  • i mean't anyone can do it!!!

    not just youm retard!!!

  • im killer at double and single leg.

  • dont go bragging about how good you are

  • how do you know thats not all i'm good at.. i could suck at wrestling and only be good and single and double leg td's.. hmm?

  • if you did suck you wouldnt just put it out there like that

  • i can do that aswell anyone can!! stop thinking ur the only 1 !!!!

  • when did i say that i was the only one... you're a dumbass.

  • this is not a finishing move. just takling some one doesn't end a fight. for me in BJJ it just STARTS the fight

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH

    It depends.

If you truly slam someone with full power from top position on a hard surface, they'll easily get KO'd or even serious head injury.

  • @Mongoelg right. but odds are against this being a fight ender. maybe every 1 out of 20 slams on concrete would be a KO

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH 1 out of 20 slams on FUCKING CONCRETE would end the fight? Motherfucker unless your superman a slam on concrete will fuck you up if not end you.

  • @madax132 nope. a double leg will not end a fight. sorry to bust your bubbles. real slams will end a fight, Uchi Mata, Harai Goshi, O Soto Gari, those will stop someone, and it's not guarrenteed that they will, the odds are just there.

HURRY! scramble to get you videos ready of one or two double leg TD's that have stopped a fight! i will show you a video of a slap KOing someone too, does it mean it has high odds? no. sure the odds are around, but in a minority. no one said it's not a good move

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH Frank shamrock nearly killed someone with a double leg and that was on a ufc mat, several fighters have been dazed after there heads bounce off. It doesn't take much to fuck up the weakest part of the skull IE the back of the head on concrete.

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH Getting dropped from six feet above the ground onto your head can do some serious damage, even on mats. Even if you don't knock him out right away, a high impact double-leg can put you on the fast track to victory.

  • @madax132 or unless you know Ukemi

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH

Not if you get slammed on concrete...

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH yeah but if he lands in side control your fucked

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH if u slam them on the head it probs would finish them :P

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH it can be a finishing move if done properly. Take for example what Frank Shamrocl did to Igor Zonoviev way back in 1996 or 97. the same applies to when Tito Ortiz took out Evan Tanner with a double leg... so if done properly and not deffended right, it could mean lights out.

  • @689433 Omg i remember that shamrock slam it was a legendary takedown

  • @689433 Hell yeah! I have both fights, I love seeing them, these were some beastly takedowns! Matt Hughes's takedowns were picture perfect everytime too, too bad we dont see them anymore...

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH

i did this in a real fight, i made him scream when i made him give up with a Kimura , btw, i barely hit in a fight, its better if you made him scream in front of peopple instead of making you look badass in a fist fight.

  • @lilgoalieman wow you are a bad ass kid

  • @lilgoalieman Ever heard the quote "punch a black belt BJJ in the face and he will turn into a blue belt, punch him again and he'll turn into a white belt" Punches are the best way to distract somebody on the ground and maintain an offensive position, And knocking somebody out through ground and pound will look way more awesome than making somebody scream through a submission

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH maybe thats why brock lesnar beat frank mir.

  • @Chonchielopez did Brock lesnar slam Frank Mir out cold, or did he ground and pound him??

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH Unless you use your shoulders and grind it on his rib it could end it pretty bad. It happend in a UFC match.

  • @TheEmelianenkoFedor I know dude I was grappling with a guy and it was BJJ rules but the guy was a really great wrestler and when he landed his double leg he used his shoulder on the landing by driving it into my stomach at the same time when my body hit the mat and it knocked the wind out of me so it really all depends on who is using the double leg.It can finish you its like taking a hard punch to the body it knocks the wind out of you and you will not be able to defend yourself.

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH the bjj isnt worth anything if you cant get him to the ground

  • @clokedbigman which is why i am a Judoka

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH yes and why im in wrestling

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH judo is not as effective in mma as wrestling is. you should try wrestling

  • @clokedbigman you can always pull guard if u know bjj tho

  • @JizzyProductionz yes you can but...if youre guard isnt that great then youre in danger

  • @clokedbigman Pretty sure its easier to take a fight to the ground than it is to keep it standing up. Just facts.

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH Not sure what your talking about, it can most definitely be a finishing move, depending on how high they are before you slam.

  • @will5125 Exactly what came to mind when i read his comment. remember Frank Shamrock?

  • @RagingDemon89 Yup...there are vids online of street fights where guys got dumped on concrete and were KO. Afterwards you saw an occasional foot stomp on the guy lying on the ground.

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH In sport yeah, but in a street fight if you slam someone onto concrete its over

  • @officerredfield That would be actually funny to see :D

  • this is on a mat too /watch?v=vZlUl9raXc4

  • this is how to execute the move /watch?v=vZlUl9raXc4

  • it can be extremely devastating - /watch?v=vZlUl9raXc4

  • Next, Barnett will teach us how to repeatedly fail steroid tests, ruin a great fight card, and take down an entire organization.

  • This is very good

My gym teacher won 1st in his weight class just from using 2 moves

    -Double leg take down

    -Half Nelson

  • was that josh barnett?

  • everytime i try this i always get caught in a guillotine choke. how do i defend against that?

  • Keep your head up, like you're looking at the ceiling. You're still vulnerable, but not as much..

  • well if your actually fighting in mma throw some punches then shoot for the takedown while hes protecting his face

  • as well as keeping your head close to their body so they cant get room for their arm to go under

  • if you start in a traditional stance, meaning your left leg is between your opponents' legs and your head is on the right side of their hip/ribs, then you want to drive your head to the left while simultaneously driving you arms to your right and take them down. this will put you in side control and even if they have a guillotine all you have to do is just turn your chin into their body and they will no longer have a guillotine.

  • The reason you end up in a guillotine is because you end up between your opponents legs. After you have your mans legs, drive to the side.

  • That and you should be looking up towards the sky when you perform the takedown and not looking down or straight ahead.

  • When i wrestled, we learned a 4th step,

after we shoot, we turn the corner then finish.this way, you actually pick him up instead of driving him to the floor.

  • Quick question (semi irrelevant)...

What difference does it make whether I drop a knee or not when I shoot for a takedown?

  • if you drop to your knee during the double leg takedown, he will Knee you in your face.

  • Only in Japan.

  • you get alot more momentum and stronger base to drive off of

  • k, the way it's done in this vid sure makes the performer look vulnerable to a guillotine =/

  • apparently it's like dropping a bag of cement onto someone's chest... which would sure as hell keep me from trying a guillotine lol... but again i dont think it is as powerfull as they say

  • 3000 lbs of force... that's like shooting your opponent directly in the face with a gun...

  • LOL

  • uchi mata creates 5000 pounds of force

  • Josh Barnett

  • Now if a takedown can impart 3000 LBs of force, how do MMA guys deal w/ take down after take down?

  • the mat takes in most of the impact

  • for the dlt

sure you whole body has to be in good physical condition but wich are zhe most important ones?the leg muscles? or the back?

  • honestly i think they just throw random ass numbers out there that sound crazy

  • ahahaha ilsur comment is funny too XD

  • I disagree with the head position. It should be right in his chest., unless you want to be choked out by a guillotine

  • If you watch where he comes down he is already in side control and can't be choked with a guillotine. You are only going to get choked if you drive straight into him and not to the side with your head.

  • cant do that against a stronger fighter. The higher your head the less force you get from your legs and back.

  • I'd say the legs. If you get into you're openents legs easily well, your back will be strait and you should be fine. That's the whole "don't lift with your back. Lift with your legs thing" because usually your back alone won't be strong enough to lift someone. It's hard to say. Build the back just to be safe.

  • Those guys are fake

  • Trust me.. its VERY real lol

  • Is that Josh Barnett?

...and LOL@Jason(BJJ guy) and Bill(Wrestler) acting like this is the first time they've been taught this.

  • hehehe true. all in the name of business, the show must go on...

  • Barnett is actually a catch wrestling guy

  • "Catch as Catch can" best motto ever
