  • its the dude from wonder years lol

  • I love Don Levine

  • although i was born to this generation, i wish i was in this time of year :(

  • i wish i grew up in the 60s

  • A there not dolls there action figure diethone

  • I remember when I was a kid a friend thought Ken dolls are for girl play and I actually own 2 ( and I'm a boy -.-) so I dressed one with GI Joe military clothing and told my friend that I got a new GI Joe.. I was laughing so hard when he grabbed it on my hands and even said that it's the most good looking GI Joe he have ever seen.

    It just makes me wonder why boys wouldn't play Kens when these GI Joes are also dolls D;

  • Is the guy talking the same guy that dd the Wonder Years voice? Sounds like him.

  • Is their a second part to this video? I remember seeing an exact video of this, but it seemed longer. Love joes, AFter watching this. Is their a book documentary about these figures?

  • @xHaloxReviewerx117x This is the whole segment on G.I. Joe from the documentary I recorded it from. There was more to the documentary but it covered other toys. There are books on vintage toys and I have one that covers G.I. Joes with pictures of all the old stuff I grew up with as a kid... I just noticed when coming to answer your comment that I see another youtube video called G.I. Joe Documentary which is another longer (but different) documentary than mine.

  • I would have my Barbie dolls marry gi joe because let face it ken's a pussy!!!

  • im gonna go to the capital and slap some damn hippies for causing the adventure team

  • Where r they now

  • The guy showed the gi Joe when the moms thew them out and took them and made new ones and the man showed

  • I lived it I'm only 11 and I want one were do I go to plese tell me plese

  • @asomerocker99 Can't understand your comment very well. If you're asking about where to by GI Joes now, the last time I was in Toys R Us several years ago, they had them.

  • @Elhardt Actually, There hasn't been a new GI Joe figure series in a little while, I hear that there's going to be one coming out based on the new Renegades TV series pretty soon though, but I could be wrong.

  • @asomerocker99 ebay, its almost impossible to find at yard sales :(

  • Grade Schoolers dirty joke--Why does BARBIE HAVE sore breasts? Cause GI JOE got the KUNG FU GRIP!

  • gi joe sems to be the only "older toy brand" that seems to have a future all these anniversarys and stuff.

  • used my sister"s barbie doll"s and used them for prostitutes for my gi joe"s after all those years my sister still brings it up

  • gi joe the good ones are back! i picked up an army paratrooper from toys r us they also have firefighter and swat its actually real gi joe brand :] hurray!

  • my fav toy when i was little

  • If someone comes to my house and trys to take my gi joes, they will not get very far at all. AT ALL.

  • liberals were really fucking stupid back in the 60s. Thanks a lot now we dont have any good gi joes or even gi joe tv commericals.

  • @FightingSpirt They're still F'in stupid! What are they going to take from us now?

  • @BigSkippy1263 who knows their never happy >:( I dont trust politics but I seem to like libertarians.

  • YO JOE!

  • The narration makes me want to watch the Wonder Years

  • Does GI Joe make you gay?

  • @Tweekerhead no but if you play with a ken doll than you are

  • excellet just memorable

  • i loved these toys and i still do

  • awesome.. did someone know where i can buy figures like that in germany ?? i have already some kind of those actionfigures ( no g.i.joe´s) and i like them very well. I have found them in the netherlands ( exactly in Middelburgh, Schouven-Duiveland)...

  • oh i mean Bugh Hamstede not Middelburh ! sry :D but stilll cool "toy"

  • GI Joe's job has been outsourced to "Black Water Bob."

  • Im age 15 and I still like to play G.I. Joe and I have the action marine scale figure.

  • @sai10212101 ther better than the 1's now

  • Sorry Daniel, it was M1 or a .50 calibre NOT an M16!

  • Its crazy how people nowadays would rather let their 10 year old son play with Barbies, wear girl's clothes, and get a sex-change operation than let their kids play cops or soldiers.

  • @CasinAandC my sister's son plays with barbies and listen to Cry Loser Gaybier and Big Time Rush but that will change because i have lots of G I Joes and i listen to Metal and Rock instead of that disgrace of music that my sister loves to listen to

  • Barbie scratched Joe, LOL!

  • ITS A ACTION FIGURE ,,,Not a Doll.....LOL

  • i actualy like gi joe adventure team but now they have futuristic ninja bullshit

  • @aokgamer Not only that, most uniforms today are molded and painted on like the small scale action figures. That is half of the fun, to be able to put different uniforms on them for different missions. If Captain America, Thor and others were the classic 12 inch scale and had actual cloth uniforms, I might consider picking one up. I went to the toy sections and they are all just out of scale heaps of plastic with sound gimmicks. Nothing like GI Joe, without the lasers whistles, bells, BullS**t

  • i like the vietnam huey and troops 3:13 to 3:21

  • I need a scramble pilot anybody have one and want to donate

  • i have 4 original gi joes and a crate with 500 differnt weapons and cllothes

  • i have only 1 joe with an inverted thumb does that mean it is original

  • i like all joes

  • I love my 1960's flame thrower gi joe and my machine gunner but know they have stuipid futuristic bullshit

  • I am 12 years old and ive GI Joes since 1999 and i still play with them! best damn figures around!!!

  • With Daniel Stern narrating. In the beginning for a second there I was not sure if I was watching a scene from The Wonder Years.

  • AWESOME!! And to get Daniel Stern for the narration is GENIUS!! Loved the original Joes. No PC "Adventure Team" stuff. THANKS!!

  • Lucky American. England only has Action Man OK Action Man is kick ass I just wish we got G.I. JOES

  • I recently found my 2001 edition of G.I. Joe Figure one from cobra and another from my side and i was wondering what it's value is?

  • He waan't a doll, he was an action fgure. And he carried an M1 ( though not very well the way his hands were designed ) Johnny West was superior in that respect. Unfortunately Kung Fu grip came much later for Joe. I still remember getting my first G. I. Joe in '65. Wound up with four in the end. The first was blond and had the rubber head that made the helmet fit much better than the later ones.

  • hate hippies!

  • is that kevin arnold narrating?? awesome!

  • Dont throw them away.Make stop motions!!

  • I had an original GI Joe in the mid 60s. He was killed with carefully placed firecrackers. I wish I still had him.

  • Count me in the legions of grown men who remember this important part of their boyhood.

By the way, despite the intro, the first time I ever saw a G.I. Joe-issue M-16 was with the Adventure Team Training Tower set. Prior to that, I only ever saw M-1's and bolt-action rifles. ='[.]'=

  • wat about cobra and the others

  • that was great but when did they make the 4 inch figures

  • "Hippies! They're everywhere! They say they wanna save the world but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad." - Eric Cartman

  • I remember getting my first GI-Joe at a Two Guys up in Jersy bout 73. When I took it to school the next day my elementary teacher took it away during recess and made the class sing a bunch of Beatles songs. I turned out to be a peace loving LSD tripper as a result. Gotta love them hippies.

  • Comment removed

  • did the British "Action Man" also have that thumb nail defect? I have recently bought a few of the 40th anniversary Action Man figures but the thumb nails are in the correct place & not how they're shown on this vid

  • i hate them damn hippies but i learded alot from this vary great!

  • @MrSteckley427 Hate? Thats always a good idea.

  • @bwd81977 yup

  • Pity Walmart just sells the little ones now. >:(

  • I have an old G.I. Joe from the 60s. 8D

He's one of my prized possessions.

I also have a guy from the newer collectors edition series.

And yay. I have more reasons to get rid of the hippies.

    Fuckin' hippies

    and then blow it up

  • every christmas or so at wal-mart there are supposed 2 b the old gi joes selling is wut ive been told and seen

  • narrative on this video states Joe came w M-16. He actually almost never had a 16, untill maybe for the later adventure team. I was born in 1960 and grew up w early Joe collections. thanks

  • "And an M16?" Um, no, that was an M14, standard issue weapon in 1964. The M16 was still in the future...

  • The ones now suck. Really. They need to bring these awesome ones back. Right now the only things close to Gi joes of this time is HM Armed Forces. And its British so there you go.

  • my question is was don lavine in ww2?

    pls reply

  • i wish that they still sold these :-(

  • I played with G.I. Joe everyday. Barbie loved macho bravado and Ken was out to much of sissy.

  • I had about 10 Joe's. And when my sisters were not looking the Joe's would go into my sisters room and beat up Ken and take Barbie for a spin.

I got my first Joe on July 6 1966 when I was ten years old. For years I had them setting around in my room, and even picked them up sometime when I was alone in my room just to remember. When I was 17 I said it was time to give them up. I took all the Joe's out and burned them. With the Joe's was one captain action doll. RIP Joe.

  • dang look at the stuff back then and look a the shitty ones we have now

  • i want to get some GI JOES RIGHT NOW! and make an army of good guys and bad guys

  • what were the knock off g.i. joes? they came in blue boxes

  • i love them but not exactly gi joe they never maid germans 21st century toys did i like playing wars and reanacting saving pvt ryan

  • when i had a GI Joe as a kid, i was very upset and shocked that such a strong action figure didnt even have a penis ;)

  • are u gay hahaha

  • i have tons of GIJoe, figures, vehicles, weapons, accesories, etc. still to this day...i still play with them....

  • New GI Joes suck. All that Cobra crap sucks.I have the classic ones. They're amazing.

  • @TheVulture911 i know iam 11 and i stll play with them :)

  • I'm 28 and my son is 4 and we play with them too. I kept most of them from when I was a kid, so it cut down on toy costs. :)

  • hippies runiened it!!!!!

  • @TheVulture911

    same here

  • insted of recommision sell them forever!!!!!! ( dumbasses)

  • I think they should make gi joes back, but 12 inch world war 2 instead of that cheasy sigma 6 crap!!!! some write to me click on the name lego9874dude and write a message to me

  • There is no way woodstock can tell you to get rid of your Gi Joes

  • I want the '60s GI Joes back!

  • Also if anyone has these old gi joes I would like to have them, especially vietnam or ww2, i also love ghillie snipers or just reg sniper joes so yeah. I have 4 SWAT sniper ones, 6 reg snipers, and 2 parachute snipers

  • I'm jealous that back then they had better GI joes than when I played with them. When I played with them they were to big, 3:19 I like those, not to big and those before it were cool, tower with 50 cal

  • they still do make them under the name of 40th anniversary actionman .....go on e bay lots of them nearly every one has been reproduced to the same quality as the original ..they are just slightly taller

  • Man I'm only 14 and I remember playing with 80's up to modern GIJOE's they were the best, now...it seems that they dont make them any more. I wonder why. Iif anyone knows WHY they stopped making these 12' figures, please let me know.

  • im 14 too and im really sad that they have stopped....

  • Oh, right, I also have an original jeep it rocks!

  • I got some 90's ones and they are cool because they are Desert Storm outfits and stuff. The only good kind that they sell today are Navy Seal and Paratroopers ones. But they are hard to find

  • hey do you know WHY "they" stopped making these figures? I went to Toys r us to see if they have them because I havent looked in like...7-8 years? and all I found was this gi-joe...rise of cobra crap. cheap plastic garbage. WHERES THE REAL GI JOE?!

  • I hear you man, I'm 14 and I have like, one original...I want more!

  • Damn hippies :(

  • right.......now you drop them once and the arm is gone

  • Yes they were. I had tons of fun with them in the early 90's but the newer models are shite.

  • No Barbie didn't scratch GI JOE, Ken did out of jealousy !! perhaps it's experiential, but to me the greatest toy ever ! thanks for posting .

  • Sorry my brother I have to disagree with you and probably other people also. NOTHING I said NOTHING like the original! Nothing Beats those reaistic looking uniforms, Vehicles, Helmets and Weapons!

  • I liked the 12" Joes back in the 60s, now I like the 3 3/4" figures because they are cheaper.

  • Or maybe he was kidding, since he's cracking jokes the whole time? I guess I commented too fast.

  • He wanted to copyright the human figure yet he had no trouble commiting a copyright violation by stealing the GI Joe name. How typical of business men.

  • I got really excited because I was in a grocery store the other day and I saw the little GI JOE from when I was a kid in the 90s, I guess they re-issued them because of the movie, the only place I know of that you could find them between 1995 and now was in KB TOYs

  • LIMP ass lefties WILL NEVER stop G.I. JOE!..."GO JOE!"

  • its sad that now all they make is this crap special agent things

  • y can't hasbro reamake them agian?!?! i meen the new gijoe stuff is cool and i like them but i also want to see some of these original.....i just wounder wut would have happend if the hippes never interfeared i meen to little boys back then it was fun to play army.. ^_^ and then the hippes ruend it -_-

  • They did remake some I think Cause I bought a 12 inch original with the same face scar and the up side down nail at Wal Mart in '08.

  • Sadly, the original GI JOE action figures will never return and we are now stuck with the junk that is made today. I had a bunch of these and alot of the accessories. Yes, when I was a kid, my Uncle gave me an original GI JOE from 1966 and my moms hippie friends got all pissed off and told my mom she was raising a war monger!

  • @in2theabyss17 U should have told your moms hippie friends to get a life and mind your own business.

  • LOL! So true!

  • @in2theabyss17 hippies are just high monkeys

  • @in2theabyss17

i would love them to make these again even tho i grew up with sigma 6

  • @in2theabyss17 The new version of G.I. Joe is called a "medicom". I had some of the originals back in 1965. The new figures are molded sculptures, and the joints are extremely refined. (And so are the prices I might add)!

  • what about the russian GI joe called conscript during USSR period

  • My dad had that. The German figures, The Russian Figures, and The Japanese figures were the unofficial villains. Most kids used them as villains. The 1st true villain was The Intruder: Stong man from another world. It was during the 70s. I wish they'd release the originals in 3 3/4 inch size.

  • So true, I still have my uncles copied whermacht guys. Keepin em all untill i have kids

  • wow that guy has the same last name as me

  • at 0:09 that one is being sold at my local thrift store for 15$

  • why did they stop making these i can not find them any where????!!!!!

  • great story..i only have one question...did he ever pay royalties on the actual name GI-JOE,which by his OWN admission he got from a movie title?he seemed so adamant about protecting the integrity of his product so what about THAT NAME???

  • I never thought about that. But I'd never heard of any legal problems and they apparently didn't need to change the name, so I guess everything was fine. Perhaps the words/names G.I. and Joe can't be owned by the movie company in the first place.

  • Well see the technical thing there is, if you look at it they have a lower case between GI and Joe. G.I.-joe. With the figure on the head as the proverbial dot. So in that case, it isn't spelled differently except for the lower-case j.

  • Under U.S. copyright law, you cannot copyright a title. You could copyright a character, but not the actual title, and I'm fairly sure the movie studio probably never made a claim to rights of "GI Joe" as a character.

  • Actually you TRADEMARK a character....my bad for misspeaking there. But the point remains, there was nothing illegal about using part of a title for your own toy since titles cannot be copyrighted.

  • U CANT COPYRIGHT A TITLE???WOW!!I I never knew that, that explains why there are so many different songs with the same name then. thanks for the info.

  • lol goooooh joe

  • cool i could make stop-motion with these easier than my wwe figure

  • I wonder if Don made the jeeps the RC tanks and motorcycles

  • Awsome! Yes he is an Action Figure! NOT a doll. They work great for animations! Thats what i use! oh and that helicopter...on 3:20...if some one finds one, let me know! mine is to damaged from combat! lol!

  • it was based on the korean war

  • The same weapons were used in the Korean War and WWII .

  • exept the m2 carbine.

  • The narrator sounds just like the narrator from The Wonder Years...

  • That was great thanks for posting this!

  • where can i find a gijoe jeep? also where is that place where all those gijoe accesories are?

  • i still have my first G.I. Joe from 13 years ago... and i still play with it XD

  • thanks for the info

  • great to see this! thank you!

  • I've been looking for this for years, thank you so much for uploading this!

  • An M16????? Who is the idiot doing the added VO? Gi Joe has an M1 Garand.

  • I am a WWII Reenactor and have 1 GI Joe action figure for display.

  • Hooray!

  • i love Gi-joes

  • you forgot one detail the dragon started kiking joe right in the ass but gi joe still is cool to coollect

  • History of G.I. Joe

  • The 12 inch figure came back in 1993 and pretty much never left. The Walmart figures were retros left over from the 40th anniversary figures that came out in 2004. For 10 bucks they were a great price and came and went pretty quickly (I picked up a number of them myself) The 12 inch figures you see now are from the Gi Joe/Cobra line, which are nice but nothing like the figures they had in the 1960s.

  • close, 1991 12" duke target exclusive got the line started again. i picked one up, been collecting ever since. i was always partial to the 70's AT guys and was happy when they started releasing the retros...

  • the cobra is nothing period 12" figures are what gi joe is all about and cobra is a fag the only reason they made him was to censor war wich is what makes the old ones cool

  • yeah the whole thing with the killing robots took the point out of gi joe

  • Great documentary. Thanks for posting. GI Joe has been a part of my life since 1966 when I received my first GI Joe soldier and I reconnected with him back in the early 90s and I've been an avid collector since. Go Joe!

  • you dont know if they still make them or not do you? i was at walmart in november and they had 40th anniversary figures which i havent since since 2003-2005 and this box said 2008?

  • i am 13... and my dad has one of the old 1965 green beret gijoe... on christmas yesterday i got a repoduction of the the 1964 action soldier and my dad got a action Sailor
