To insult and say those who played the NFS from Underground onwards as not true fans is utter nonsense. I personally was introduced to the NFS Series with Underground. I enjoyed it and it was a good challenge, didn't play much of U2, loved Most Wanted, never touched Carbon, enjoy Undercover playing on and off, playing Hot Pursuit (2010) on and off and finished The Run. As a girl (29) I've loved all the games I played and will continue to see EA's NFS progression. So stop arguing and just enjoy!

I have been a NFS fan since HFS III hot pursuit I used to play NFS as a kid alot a bought every new game you bought out when I was 17 I bought MW I loved it then bought carbon a year later I thought it was good then after I bought pro street and I was shocked at what NFS has came to seriously free running, cops shooting at you, seeing your character. NFS has gone down the drain and I didnt just like NFS for its customization but for its edge of your seat races I did like customization to though.

Also, have you compared the two on a T.V. or monitor with the same resolution? I watched a video of the game and it looked much better than Most Wanted. Or any game on the PS2 for that matter.
I did played Need For Speed Underground 2. It was fun though.

I crash some cars (Just for fun because of the slow-mo.) and the car didn't even has a single scratch on it. I mean, come on, dude! It's a high speed crash!

This game shows a lot of promise. I mean the car variety is huge ranging from the VW GTI and Pontiac Firebird to some of my favorites the McLaren F1 and the Pagani Zonda it has something that appeals to everyone. NFS seems like it's going back in the right direction. Underground series through Carbon weren't that great. The no cops and customization sucked. Personally my favorite NFS is Hot Pursuit 2 from 2002. The cars were great. Physics were fantastic. Cops were fun. And they had offline split screen so I could sit down with a buddy and lay waste with the cops on our tails.
For those who struggle with coming to terms with this NFS underground absence listen up and listen well. In 2001 the fast and the furious was released and soared in the box office, Black box decided to make their seventh NFS in its image 2 years later, it became huge, later they copied the movies and made a sequal. But despite the 3rd F&F not making much money they copied it again with NFS carbon, and can we say 'flop'. People lost interest, so they stopped copying, there will never be a NFS U3!

@spicyd2 Yes there will. Look up NFS The Run challenge series hands on on G4tv.com. One of them confirms vehicle customization in the challenge series mode. I don't know if it will be in any other modes but its confirmed. Im not trying to mislead anyone.
I refuse to buy NFS if they still dont support the G25/G27 wheels, yes its arcade handling but come on, you wouldn't play with a pad in a real arcade either. If they can do it for their Shift series then there's no excuse for the arcade side for fun, ie. hot pursuit and the run. Great graphics and presentation but it needs to support a wheel!
I'm a little curious how this will work. If it works from traveling from left to right, then does that mean you won't be able to race your faster cars on the western side of the map in Story Mode? Generally in NFS games you race all over the map, but in this it seems like the best cars will be unlocked the more east you move, rendering earlier parts of the map non-applicable (if thats the word to use)

It's sad that 90% of current and new NFS fans are Underground fanboys that keep bitching about UG3 or MW2. Underground/Most Wanted fanboys are NOT true NFS fans. True NFS fans played the old school NFS games like High Stakes, Porsche Unleashed, NFS III: Hot Pursuit, Hot Pursuit 2 and the new HP. Shift series are good to me though.

Well I just don't get the appeal of "racing" commuter cars (old diesel Civics and 1.8 Lancers).
I preferred the old NFS where you drove insane cars like Lamborghinis, Ferraris and now the new Paganis and Porsches.

Generally in NFS games you race all over the map, but in this it seems like the best cars will be unlocked the more east you move, rendering earlier parts of the map non-applicable (if thats the word to use)

It's sad that 90% of current and new NFS fans are Underground fanboys that keep bitching about UG3 or MW2. Underground/Most Wanted fanboys are NOT true NFS fans. True NFS fans played the old school NFS games like High Stakes, Porsche Unleashed, NFS III: Hot Pursuit, Hot Pursuit 2 and the new HP. Shift series are good to me though.

@matrixdune WOAH, WOAH, WAOH HOLD ON! I love Need For Speed Underground it's been my favorite game since it first came out that doesn't give you the right to say I'm not a true NFS fan. OR because I don't play the games that came out before it NFS games are my favorite games of all I think it's a little harsh to say that I'm not a fan just because my number one favorite isn't the first freakin' game they came out with. so many people crying out for a NFSU3 or MW2, others criticize the new gameplays, the change in the franchise, too arcade or too sim, it is almost impossible for a game meets all expectations of the people, until HP2 the franchise maintained its classic mode, since NFSU to NFS: UC (forget that ProStreet crap) things changed radically, from Shift things have been improving slowly, that's progression, past was good, but we must move forward and if you don't like it, make your own games XD
