  • This Drummer is Keeth Moon?

  • This and "Needles and Pins" are classics in my book.

  • Who is the drummer?

  • Live! Honest-to-God LIVE! And damned good live!

  • Sure does play like Keith Moon. I had to look close to make sure it wasn't him.

  • 0:20

He looks just like Joey Curatolo of Rain!

  • Stop that drumsss!!!!

  • Space patrolman thanks for your response to my question about Mike Pender juanbbien

  • those people in the crowd dancing are in their mid 60s now--who was the drummer?----is that the original drummer of the searches??????

  • @64downtown Looks like Keith Moon

  • I think you mean that Denny Laine sang "Go Now".

  • Comment removed

  • jay from the inbetweeners on the drums....

  • Mike Pender left in the mid-80s and formed Mike Pender's Searchers, which is still playing gigs, as are The Searchers with John McNally and Frank Allen.

As regards this clip, the drummer is definitely John Blunt, who replaced Chris Curtis.

  • @alancheshire Didn't Pender go to The Moody Blues ? He sung " Go Now ", didn't he ?

  • @loupascarelli No, you're thinking of Mike Pinder who was with the Moody Blues in their earlier days. He was the one who sang on Go Now. Regards, Alan.

  • Corvus13 thanks for your reply,I know he went solo I was inquiring for what reason, did he have a fallout with the others or was it far some other reason

  • this song is as good now as when these guys first performed it.

  • YEEAHHH I see it today in Offenbach :D on "beat beat beat "

  • The 1st song I ever played on guitar when I was 12. The 2nd was Proud Mary by CCR :-) What was your 1st guitar song to learn on? This song seems so mellow now, but back then? whew. :-) Still I would have preferred playing something classic rock or blues, even folk, to this. It was the only music chart I had for the learning guitar booklet.

  • drummer in this video is chris curtis i believe

  • @psychedelicsam1 Depends, he left the band in '66, this was in '66, it's probably John Blunt, since he was most Keith Moon-influenced. :)

  • JohnPaulSaylor is part right, James Blunts Father retired as a Colonel in the Army Air Corps. The real spelling for his name is Blount but James changed it to Blunt for professional reasons

  • you can tell that drummer was a Keith moon fan....lol

  • love, butterflies, trust, high blood pressure, compassion, sincerity, faith, Heart palputations, patience and good music= Love potion No. 9

  • I have to sing this song for my school musical :D

  • The drummer is playing in a different group.

Maybe the Who, but certainly not the Searchers.

  • Why did Mike pender leave

  • @juanbbien He went solo.

  • @juanbbien he didnt tell anybody but his new manager he was leaving john mcnally took him to court and won he can only call it mike penders searchers and searchers cant be in bigger letters or a differant color it was supposed to be for some big controversial reason but it was never disclosed what they actual reason was my theory is that he didnt want to split the money 4 ways just pay sidemen less money and keep the lions share

  • @spacepatrolman tony jackson complained thast when he had a reunion weith him he didnt pay him much money the lead singer of the vouges can only use the name in pennsylvania according to a court descion moby grape had to call it mosley grape because a lawyer owned the name

  • great drumming

  • Comment removed

  • @MattMoon100

Yes,it`s John Blunt, father of James Blunt.

John was with The Searchers for four years.

  • @Chimbo65 Wha? The guy who wrote "You're Beautiful"? I think you're wrong. His dad was a British pilot, and one of main reasons James joined the army. But you're right that he was with the Searchers for 4 years.

  • I  this song

  • :D !!

  • Excellent quality, holy cow! Thanks! :)

  • rifados rifeños.... huhuhu

  • I liked the original Searchers guitar solo. He screwed this up trying to be cool with that Rickenbacker. And they played it too fast also.

  • You can definitely hear that this is a Leiber/ Stoller. It sounds so much different then Needles and Pins.. a good thing I think...awesome song though up to now I never really new who did it... ;-)

  • Woohoo! Frank Allen! Hottie!

  • that great memory of this band that came out of Liverpool

    thanks for uploading your video

  • Sorry 1:22 into the video the dude looks lost

  • The dude in the crowd @ 1:32 into the video looks lost!

  • a Rockin version, man, they could Jump Up on the Crowd With the guitars, and do a little headbangin,Just Kidding hehehe

  • 1:22 that dudes a beast

  • What a diciplined black&white also. Rickenbacker nice product.

  • @SollAr56 do they still make Ricks like that? love the Rose Morris style

  • @AYoungMusicianDude Pender worked in a guitar store, he scored a lot of great guitars, like the Rick.

  • @corvus13 When did he work in a guitar store i heard he was a carpet layer

  • @spacepatrolman del shannon worked in a carpet store he wrote songs sitting on piles of carpets

  • @spacepatrolman Look for Mike Pender on Wikipedia. It says "In his early years, Pender worked at a guitar shop as a day job in between playing nightly gigs with The Searchers. "

  • @corvus13 a good job for a musician any job that puts bread on the table is a good job

  • @corvus13 listen to dont you by bobby vee he does a searchers imitation

  • great!!

  • I love how powerful the live performances are on this show....I've seen The Kinks, The Troggs and The Searchers! Did The Beatles or The Rolling Stones ever play this show? I haven't found a video of them. :)

  • #273

  • Their drummer is very cute!

  • 0:27 Neville Longbottom's dad!!!!

  • @tjeremy96 sersolusly

  • great song, better than the original!

  • nice scream at 1:05 :D

  • awww thanxs u have the best vids ever

  • The drummer is The Searchers' Keith Moon!

  • The drummer on this clip is John Blunt who was with the band for their last few UK chart successes before he was replaced by Billy Adamson, who appears on the aforementioned Sire recordings. He subsequently left and Eddie Rothe who stayed for a few years before leaving to be house-husband to UK singer and TV celeb, Jane McDonald. I'm not sure of the name of their current drummer.

  • @alancheshire Scott Ottaway.

  • You have a nice collection of 60's vids here.

  • @geoabe303 Thanks, I will check that one out; possibly Ameoba Music in Hollywood has it.

  • Keith Moon meets the Searchers, never thought that combo would work.

  • At 1:27 a very pretty girl looks right into the camera at lower right. Does anybody know this person and where she is today ?

  • @baseballeddie1177 you are right, she is so pretty,..

  • Why do this bands always speed the tempo up of the original song. This is much better slower and with the proper middle 8. Its like they say lets get it over with quick the pubs are open soon. If they do not enjoy playing it makes one wonder why they bother . anyone see my point..

  • @kellyadvent more energy in faster songs,

  • @kellyadvent I don't think they speed up the song just to get it over with, I think they were trying to do something different, as you can see the drummer is a big Keith Moon fan so maybe they wanted to match his energy. Besides if they were just rushing the song wouldn't have fit together as neatly as it did here.

  • amazing, love the mersy beat, guy with the tele is givin it with all the crazy moves and stumming. !

  • I love 'em, but they want to be the Beatles a little too much for me!

  • The 'drummer' likes Keith Moon

  • who is the back up singer at 30 secs?? he is adorable!!!

  • @daymude63

Back up singer is Frank Allen, and yes he is adorable and still is at 67.

  • Who's that on drums?

  • Who did the original "love potion no9"?

  • @grabthebagnow

The Clovers did the original in the 50s.

  • Chris Curtis was a powerhouse on the drums and the vocals. John Blunt was very "mooney" and a great drummer also. I just feel that the rest of The Searchers left were still stuck in 1964.

  • Another great post, love seeing John Blunt who was a great drummer. Does he fit with the Searchers? hmmm..I'm not so sure.. Keep it up NY Rainbow!

  • @geoabe302: I think that your comments are valid, especially the last one. It seems that they kept up the black suit and tie persona until about 1967. Great band, though.

  • @1947studebaker1 Have you ever heard the two albums they recorded on Sire in 1979 & 1980? They are terrific, it's a shame they weren't huge hits. Perhaps if MTV were around then maybe they would have promoted the videos. You can pick up both albums on a 2 for 1 CD from Raven called The Sire Sessions. The Searchers proved that they could still rock with the best of them.

  • The Searchers were great and that drummer is awesome.

  • I remember my brothers playing this.

    Still like it.

    Thanks.

  • @nyrainbow-do you know what show this was? There used to be an equally good live clip of the Searchers from the German show Beat Beat Beat, but it got taken down.

  • this is from the Beat Beat Beat

  • Thank you-I thought it might be but I wasn't sure-how did you get hold of it?

  • What a great group!!

  • Thanks for the post! Can I love both Chris Curtis and John Blunt? Never would have thunk that Moon-drumming would work with the Searchers - but it sure does!

  • Drummer here is John Blunt.

Only with The Searchers for four years.

    But very good.

He is quite clearly a Keith Moon fan.

  • Wow! Live in 66' how good is this.

  • wow ,sweet 60's.they sound good
