I bet half of the people who say this film is bad merely want you to know that they watched the Hitchcock one... And if there were one from 1897, people would love that one and despise Hitchcock's. So boring. I've always loved this version.

@weaselidiotu Oh, no. After I watched "The Heartbreak Kid", the only reason I didn't fly to the States to ask her to marry me (or kill me, or whatever really) is because it was about a year ago and rather too late.

@theburt83 Which I suspect is why some people now like to say that "Under Capricorn" is Hitchcock's best film or something, I suppose just to imply that they saw something in it that you didn't.

I still think that it's not a good movie, although Cybil Shepherd looks gorgeous in it, and although it has Lom, Carmichael, Lowe and Lansbury and a marvellous soundtrack. But gosh, the picture quality here is so much better than of the DVD commercially available in Germany!
