The trumpet player may have sped it up a bit but regardless, I still have this song stuck in my head and think it still as a great rendition of this song, thanks to Lisa.

On nooo one of my favourites murdered, like something from a school concert clattering posts and pans, a guy on trumpet who can't get a note aaahhh, Hannigan overdoing the pathos, and what's with the Huckleberry Finn outfits ?! Please listen to Hersh's original recording with Stipe before you pass comment on this aural travesty.
@gramach I like Lisa too or I wouldn't have clicked on this, I think she's an incredible talent probably the best female singer, songwriter to come out of Ireland since Sinead O'Connor but she totally murdered this song - I'm just being honest.
@Zarkenfrewdd Not sure what point you're making. Let me guess, you're her number one fan. She's a well paid professional I'm sure she can handle criticism. Do you have an issue with someone having a different opinion to you?
@DJSpinoza Her number one fan? Haha! Probably not...but stranger things have been known to happen. ;) I believe that you not getting my point was my point... I don't personally have an objection to anyone having an opinion so long as they don't object to mine. And it is this: Anyone who uses the phrase "aural travesty" in a public forum probably has their head in their ass. So my advice for you is get your head out of there. It's not supposed to go there.
@Zarkenfrewdd Hope that doesn't imply you mean to kidnap her or something? Okay perhaps "aural travesty" was a slight exaggeration but refered primarily to the trumpet player, who, even with my head buried in my own arse, I could still hear murdering notes. Listen to the Hersh/Stipe version, how can you suggest Hannigan's hippy dippy cover possesses any of the emotional intensity of the original?
anyone who actually preferred this tin can mockery of a great song by kirsten hersh should not comment on anything ever again obviously your opinions are not worth much.
lisa i think you should leave that one to the original singer kirsten hersh...don't get me wrong i like your music but some songs should be left alone.
Gives me shivvers LIsa is one of the only true artists out there ....Voice like an Angel, but the lyric's come across soo much darker....True And incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep them coming please!
I love everything about this except the trumpeter. He pushes the pace and she has to rush to keep up with him. He should ahve stuck with the vibraphone.
Instead of being full of haunting space, it's full of rush and hubbub... he should be shot... okay just not play trumpet on this piece.
actually...2/3 again...really gotta thank you for posting this...even if it "sounds like someone in the audience recorded it on their cell phone video and posted it". Better than not seeing it at all.
Agree with 3/3 of your sentence, Lisa's "The Man I Love" was likely from a video phone with beer bottles clattering, but it is the best and certainly best, even with beer bottles.. than not at all.
.. this sounds like someone in the audience recorded it on their cell phone video and posted it...She is too good for that.. this may be good but hard to tell... Also think She and Damien Rice belong together his songs are much better with her.
Pretty bad??? Trumpet doesn't belong? Kristin Hersch better? Geesh. What a bunch of tone deaf clowns. This rendition by Lisa smokes them all. She is sooo great at all she does. Rice is probably still crying about letting her go.
Hey Lisa! Your band is not organized well..or is it the sound...? You start slow, but when you hit the banjo, the song speeds up, a lot! Great voice btw.
You really think neither of them don't miss the great music that both made together? The BBC concert seeries with I Remember is one of the best live performances ever and is certainly no where near as good when Rice sings it alone. The Role Lisa has in it and other songs is significant. She takes the songs to the next level.
@gramach Even though my label is not in the market for this genre (alt folk/ easy listening), I truly love their rendition. Live acts always sound a bit off from LPs, CDs, etc.
As far as wardrobe, look to Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, DJ Adam Sky (aka: Adamski), etc. IMO, the clothing doesn't play music, the artist does. True, they could've been a bit more tight on this track, but still a great cover!
not a bad cover, the timing seems a little rushed at times though.

@DJSpinoza 5 months later and still sounds as bad, one of my favorite songs brutally murdered by a cacophony of tin pots and glockenspiels.

Rice isn't crying. He's so far up his own ass that he looks like a Klein bottle. I thank him for releasing her to us.

@quemo2009 He is, actually. But being happy about that is just as juvenile as blindly bashing this as 'noise' so.... =)
