  • i can hear a hint of SRV in there in a few places..awesome song

  • Boy I am so fascinated...Cool & Smooth all thru' out !

  • EJ Y U NO TOUR OUTSIDE USA?

  • East - Wes is a tribute to Wes Montgomery. Wes always played using his thumb and Eric shows that style at the beginning of this piece. Wes died in 1968 and continues to influence thousands of guitarists.

  • the way he touches that guitar to achieve that insane tone if an expierienced musician had never heard of eric johnson before he or she woulda thought that sound was coming from a gibson es-175

  • sounds like a very updated George Benson at the beginning. I must confess, that this whole cd is likely the very best piece of music I have ever heard. Makes me want to pick up my Les- then throw it down. Thank you EJ, for re-inventing what music can really mean to an astute listener.

  • how can sound like that be of this earth...

  • Great playing, I miss the old days of Ceefax and Oracle !

  • The Angel Gabriel appears in front of you , and he has a message: God will allow you to instantly to that of Eric Johnson. The price: someone in the world you don't know will instantly die of a heart attack, and God absolves you of responsibility for that death. Do you take the deal?

  • Tenacious D should make a sequel to their film...now The Tone of Destiny...featuring Eric Johnson as god...

  • Sounds KILLER on a Strat.

Love to hear this song on a ES-335....WOW !

Imagine that song played on an ES-175....DAMN !!!!

  • Kill the bass player :s....GET OUT!!!

  • Whenever I'm feelin' tired or stressed, I lie down in bed, play this track with my headphones on, close my eyes & enjoy.

  • The progression he plays in the middle with the octave harmonics is unreal. Absolutely brilliant!

  • @98MGS I agree, my favorite part of the song. A great example of how to write PERFECT music on the guitar without the need to shred, even though that is fully within the capabilities of EJ. He understands less is more...

  • amen !

  • the 2 people that disliked this ...can go listen to your katy perry and go jump in front of a trash truck!!

  • @KillerRoboViking. It's a Jimi Hendrix dedication army jacket, FYI.

  • At first I thought it sounded like elevator music, turns out it was actually two Victoria's Secret models losing their virginity to a fender strat, truly beautiful music, unique in it's own amazing way, agreed?

  • Man, he gets that Wes tone on a strat, that's crazy shit.

  • @TheFigueroa007 Yeah, right? I can't even get a good Wes tone on my jazzbox, and he gets one out of a Strat! I guess that's why he's the King of Tone...

  • one of the most beautiful instrumentals i've ever heard. just haunting.

  • what a bitchin' suit.

  • "Wes" Stands for Wes Montgomery? He took his octave stye at the beginning, maybe he got inspiration from him for this tune

  • @HandMane yeah, I think it's the only thing he took from the Wes style. it's a very good song but not a very good tribute to Wes. But it's fun to play even if the lick at 1:29 is realy hard.

  • @HandMane wes montgomery had a song called "bumpin on sunset" that had to be the inspiration for this. you can find it on youtube.

  • Man the chords he uses! Eric Johnson is one of the best guitarists of all time! How do bands with no talent like Green Day or rappers like Flo Rida get so much attention? Seriously?! What's this world coming too.

  • 2:14 gonna need new pants!

  • flawless , amazing, beautiful, need i say more?

  • this hits me in the heart and I am not sure why it sounds so sad to me

  • Gorgeous and emersive...Erick is a guitarists guitarist. He will always rank at the very top as someone who can produce one of the most unforgettable sets you'll ever have the pleasure of witnessing. Erick Johnson, Steve Morse, Jeff Beck, David Gilmour across the last 40 years have been my favorites.

  • I love the octaves. Check out Hypnotized by Fleetwood Mac with Bob Welch for a nice octave vibe too.

  • I actually saw this Austin City Limits Show when it first aired. I was getting dressed ready to meet my friends for a night on the town when by accident I was clicking the channels and wa la !!! I always remembered that show and about 5 years ago while at Walmart, wa la the whole entire show for sale on dvd. $10.00 and I was one happy man. I never get tired of watching it. I love that jacket he has on. I had once chance to seen him in New Orleans but as fate would have it I missed the show

  • @earlsworld70117 I did the same thing!!! I was flipping through the channels before I went out and he was at the start of Cliffs Of Dover... I dropped everything I was doing and watched the entire show before I left!!! Incredible show!!! Most underated guitarist ever!

  • I wasn't paying attention while I listened, then when I came to I was crying.

How the hell did that happen?

  • EJ is proof that Wes is more.

  • Sounds like an 80s porno song. Wait... this is the theme song to "Done in 60 seconds".

  • If I was listening to this while having sex I'de probably cum in 10 seconds just from the music

  • Unbelievable precision,tone,musicality...and a nice Jaco-esque bass solo at the end.

  • I'm glad I still have my old Roland tape echo!

  • Awhh LOVE his tone. This is a song you can get lost in...

  • yesss, I haven´t found myself yet...

This album is something like a OST for my whole life (bueno desde que lo conocí...)

  • @teleguy...because that is a1954 strat he's playing...

  • tone to die for

  • How come he can get such beautiful tone from his strat?

  • b/c hes eric johnson. hes from another planet haha

  • fingerpicking and delay.

  • Great tribute to the genius Wes Montgomery

  • wo?! Is this a version? have heard for a million times and didn´t it a was neither a version.

Hey tell me plz what piece covers this? Or what from Wes relates to it!

  • Probably the closest from Wes is Bumpin' on Sunset.

  • Omg, no it doesn't. Hater, yo :P

  • Feeling - Beautiful chords - Amazing Tone = Eric Johnson

I really would like to see him one more time in Argentina... hope soon

  • Try Storyville on Youtube if you haven't heard them. Peace.

  • Awesome song, such brilliant technique

  • amazing

  • beautiful song..sound ,,tone,,love...this song..for the memory...of,,paulinita!!!,

  • my favorite song from eric johnson i luv it !!!!!!

  • hello????

  • Simply amazing.

  • How does he do those tapped harmonics??? OMG!!

  • i know, its insane. he picks with the same hand he hits the harmonic with. another guy that does this a lot is Andy McKee, another phenomenal musician

  • i've often wondered that myself. if you check out him doing trademark live he does it there too but he hits the strings above the pickups. amazing.

  • yes. it's because the pickup is the octave of the 12 fret.

  • that's a 1954 fender strat he's playing. one of the first strats ever made. His tone is beautiful. Guitar made the same year he was born. WOW.

  • @freakkout1 get your shit together, it's not a 54 strat, it's his signature model based upon that

  • @jenetik0 signature series didn't come out way back when..so no it isn't his signature series he's playing

  • @freakkout1 isn't his Signature Strat based on a 1957 Strat? Honestly, the '57 is said to be one of the best years for the strat. Hence the reason why he uses it.

  • @freakkout1 and it's name is Virgina...
