Obviously not feeling the pain in Sacramento because the Democrats just proposed a 91 billion dollar budget with a 84 billion income next year. The reps came back with a 84 billion dollar budget. If the first is passed gues what you the working and shopping for luxuries like food will have to eat less to pay taxes to pay the shortffall. We need to loose at least 15 democrats or more to escape the pit.
California should start by cutting its civil service. They are overpaid and under worked. Next they should cut most social services since they cant afford them and deport all illegal immigrants immediately. That would solve their budget issues very quickly. Note, they won't do any of this but it would work.

No. I don't see any city workers there getting their pay cut. Another CBS story that is making things LOOK bad. CBS needs to do a reality check.

@BeantownJim if they do really get any help other than a meal and a trip home then it should definitely be cut, not usa's fault what the mexicans turned their country into so we should never feel bad about shipping them back no matter what and at as little cost as possible
EVERY city council, every county board, and every state agency in California should scrutinize EVERY government position, white collar & blue collar. Calculate the national average pay for that job, and tack on 15% for higher housing costs in Calif., and use that as a basis to SLASH government employee compensation. NEXT, put the retirement & medical benefits on the exam table--and bring in an AXE.
I lived for 35 years in Calif until I sold my house & business, and cleared out a few years ago. BUT I CANNOT FORGET the sky-high salaries that city, county, & state employees receive. One of my friends is upper managment civil service in the San Bernardino area, and he LAUGHS at the salary he is paid: about $150,000 per year to go to meetings & deal with union reps. He told me, quote, "It is ridiculous what the county pays me, but I will take it!" *(plus expense account & benefits)
