AMIGO, NO QUIERO SER DURO U OFENSIVO PERO, TU DOMINAS LA EJECUCION EN LOS TRASTES ENTRE EL 24 Y EL 36 ? ES QUE NO TE VI TOCARLOS NI UN MOMENTO. MUY BUENA Y EXACTA EJECUCION DE ES ACANCION PERO CON UNA GUITARRA COMO ESA, CREO QUE PODIAS IMPROVISAR UN PAR DE NOTAS AGUDAS, NO CREES ???
@bompiberlot Thanks for the compliment! In this case, using the extended range from fret 24 to fret 36 on this guitar just wasn't the point in this video. This was actually the only guitar I had tuned to EADGBE at the time, so that's the main reason I even used it in this video. Don't worry though, I'll be sure to use those upper frets in some other video. :)
Everytime I see anybody playing that song, I can't help think of the "wayne's world no stair way" scene. I stopped playing that song the moment I saw that movie and I would be way too ashamed to play it in a contest.
It wasn't the movie affecting me, its that it was true. That song is so overplayed that i did notice people rolling thier eyes at guitar stores everytime anyone played it, like a "not again" sort of thing. Smoke on the Water also made people roll their eyes.
@zer0dahero Bro, I totally agree with the fact that Stairway and Smoke on the water are disgustingly overplayed. I would like to say though, I have seen probably thousands of stairway covers live and on Youtube, and I have taught it to numerous students, but that was one of the best interpretations of the song I have seen in a long long time.
@aragorn767 hah, where do I know you from eh? LOL, I will add to my previous comment the statement that not only is his cover imaginative but incredibly accurate. I can tell that this is the product of a complete stuedy of the piece.
@aragorn767 I been watchin em. I like good Jazz. Those really remind me of when my daughter was in Jazz band at college. I got a couple of those old vids on my page too, One Note Samba is particularly nice, go hunt it up at some point, and yes, i like to play and sing summertime in a country blues fashion with jazz chords embedded.
36 frets...I have a 29-fret guitar with the same body shape and cutaway in my other Shred The Web entry. The unfortunate thing is, that extended cutaway is built for access to the 29th fret on both guitars; so on this one, frets 30 - 36 are still not very easy to reach. :/ oh well though, I love it anyway! These guitars pop up on ebay every so often...I saved an ebay search for "Washburn EC36" and found mine.
Nahh, probably not this year. That's awesome that they're doing another one, but I have too much I'm working on currently to take on something that involved. Thanks for asking/letting me know though!
Thanks!!! :) I went hunting for it online in 2005 (with an ebay saved search's help)...I LOVE playing this guitar. I recommend getting one if you can find and afford one. Thanks for your comment!
Thanks!!! The FCB1010 actually works great with the PodXT and PodXT Pro. I've used it in my live rig with my band Todesbonden for about 2 years so far. Overall the FCB1010 is just a great all-around MIDI controller (although programming it seems complicated at first) for any purpose (guitar, keyboards, even MIDI arranging). Thanks for commenting!
It is a Washburn EC36. They were only in production from 1988 - 1989, but although they're rare they can be found on eBay from time to time...that's where I found mine. I also have the EC29 which I got new back in 1993 (it sat in the store for a loooong time), which I played in my First Round video entry.
I will actually be making the tabs this week, so I'll post a link to the PDF of it in the right-hand sidebar. As far as playing to those particular (or any) chords, I always aim to land on one of the 3 notes in each chord with my melody, composition-wise. Technique-wise, I tend to use a lot of sweep picked arpeggios and scale runs.
Realy nice version of STH. I voted for you and i hoped this is the wining video. But it didn"t win. Well I think is great and i bet I"m not the only one that think so. Good luck with next contest..
Dude this is great (It's Hunter). I love your solo, especially the sweeps. I voted already, and I'll post it on my facebook a little later to get my friends to vote. Sick Fucking job!
Nice job! I heard 'Stairway' playing in the vet's office this morning and it got me to wondering how you were doing the Guitar World contest and lo and behold! Here's the video! At least they didn't make you play Freebird...
