  • I have seen it yesterday, many years after seeing it the first time, it's always unbelievable

  • I am reading "Where Snowflakes Dance and Swear" it is nice to see what the author is trying to describe. This must be an awesome piece to see live.

  • I saw Parsons just now at 5:00pm

  • @BabeBoomBoom1 we must have been at the same show!

  • @DanceChi cool! =3

  • Just saw this performed last night at the Joyce Theater... it was amazing... mind blowing...beautiful. It is the second time I've seen it live and the first time it was performed by a woman (for the first time, I believe). The video is great, but when you're in the room with the dancer doing this... it is a uniquely thrilling experience.

  • @jorgeactorvideos I was in the audience at the Joyce last night too. It was definitely performed by a man. This video doesn't compare to seeing it live.

  • what the... no. how is this good!?

  • simply fantastic...go david!!

  • Grace Bradly this is dumb

  • thumbs up if hadassah segal brought you here

  • I saw this 3 times with Quinones in Brazil (3 different years), and I always feel breathless!

  • no one does it like David did it

  • @SacredNoiseSociety you haven't seen Eric Bourne do it then. it's mind blowing

  • This is one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever seen. I love it!

  • I saw this live recently. still so breathtaking even after I believe 28 years! <3 funny how the past can reflect the future too. :)

  • I saw this with Miguel Quinones last night at The State Theater in New Brunswick, and he was fabulous! It's too bad that the strobe effect doesn't come out as well in a video, as is does watching a live performance. I still don't understand how it can look like he's "dancing in the air".

  • Stupendo ho avuto anch'io la fortuna di vederlo dal vivo:incredibile!

  • I've been lucky enough to see this 8 or 9 nine times. I thought it was amazing when David performed the piece many years ago and didn't think any other dancer could possibly match it. I was wrong. I most recently saw it performed at the Joyce Theater in NYC by Miguel Quinones and he was quite impressive. A beautiful dancer.

  • Had the privilege of witnessing the premiere of this masterwork, danced by David Parsons at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in 1987. He brought down the house!!!!

Tonight is the last night to "catch" Miguel performing it at the Joyce Theater, NYC. You must see this performed LIVE!!!!!!

  • oy vay, this is just so beautiful. david parsons, you are the man of my dreams!

  • Seen Miguel do this live about 2 days ago. OMG!!!!! This guy is amazing man

  • I just saw miguel do this dance tonight!!!! It is amazing!

  • Yea, I saw this live too, for a class trip about 4yrs ago... I still, to this day cannot figure out how he appeared upside down so perfectly ... There were literally, no flaws ... Astounding ... and when you see it live, you hear nothing but the music, no jumping sounds ... I wonder how all the times wen the light was just, "on him" he wasn't panting for breath

  • Yea, I saw this live too, for a class trip about 4yrs ago... I still, to this day cannot figure out how he appeared upside down so perfectly ... There were literally, no flaws ... Astounding

  • Yes you must see this live! I saw it live once when Ailey performed it. It was amazing! The guy did back flips and was upside down in the air when the light strobed! It blew my mind! Absolutely phenomenal!

  • doing an essay about this for school :)

  • If you can see it live, don't miss it. As nice as this video is, it is a pale shadow of the live performance. Of course it is the "liveness" that makes it so great, as jaded as we are about special effects in film. I recall a more extended "walk" in the air from left to right across the stage; perhaps it changes a little from performance to performance (or in my memory). That "walk" was 2 or 3 feet in the air. Startling and awe-inducing, it seemed like magic.

  • lol i am dancer too i had this idea for some time ago now in other side of the world you had made it real try some more beat in arms and learn some gliding too.

  • I saw this live and it was the most unforgettable dance piece I've seen. In person, the strobe makes the whole theater go dark and bright.

  • Oh now that is too cool x

  • Awsome! I saw them in Rio de Janeiro, some years ago. Simply amazing.

  • I was fortunate to see this performed live by Clifton Brown at an Alvin Ailey performance in 2006. You can really appreciate the lighting effect in person, it seemns like the dancer is flying across the stage!

  • AMAZING...LIVE IT IS EVEN BETTER!

  • I have witnessed this piece performed live at Royce Hall at UCLA. It is nothing short of incredible.

  • angel corella did this last night at the abt opening gala, it was amazing!!!!

  • @mometo2angels Absolutely amazing I was there to and loved it....

  • this is weird, but it's reallly cool!!!!! looove it! absolutely amazing!

  • My dad was in David Parsons boyscout group when they were younger... he showed me this

  • thrilling

  • I saw the David Parsons Dance Company do this in Kansas City. It was performed by a female dancer and she was wonderful. This is good, but seeing it done on stage is so powerful!

  • I saw Cliffton from Alvin Ailey's company do this. It is AMAZING live.......

  • omg, i saw this live tonight!! Absolutely phenomenal live!!!!!! the hand dance was blood brilliant too.

  • omg i saw this yesterday Very Amazing ^_^

  • i saw this today live ... he was reallly goood .

  • I've been lucky to see it four times performed live. It always leaves feeling like I did the first time I saw it.

  • Any videos of the dance he made of movements in sleep? It was very interesting

  • Thank you for this amazing video posting, I saw this performed over 10 yrs ago, and still remember it as one of the most exciting visual experiences that I'd ever seen, absolutely stunning! Really enjoyed seeing it again! Many thanks! Is 'Caught' still performed? Love to see it again!

  • so fantatic

  • i saw this last night.... it was brilliant. took my breath away.

  • I saw this piece again about five months ago and was blown away--again. Bloody brilliant!

  • fantastic. I saw this wonderful coreography in Senigallia (Italy) 2 years ago and I was so impressed. Anyone knows the title of the song? Robert Fripp ok...but title? =/ thanks

  • let the power fall

  • thank u so much

  • AMAzing!! saw it just 40mins ago!! but it was a girl (julie) she was GREAT she was flying!! and I took class today with them... :)

  • I'm taking a master class with the man himself and then I get to see this performance live.

    life is good. :D

  • @Straussian:

    you're absolutly right .

I also saw this piece live, in Milan:

    FANTASTIC!!

  • dis peice is ahmazin cause i luv the way he moves so fluity like

  • Does anybody know what song this is? I know it's by Robert Fripp, but not sure where I can get the song!

  • Good video, but video will never approach the experience of seeing the piece performed live. I have seen it live once--it was FANTASTIC. I would pay to see "Caught" by itself. Each dancer must do it differently; the version I saw included the dancer appearing to walk across the stage in midair. Don't miss "Caught" if you ever get a chance to see it in person.

  • Great music from Fripp....sets the mood for the dance without being distracting and taking over the performance.

  • i love it, but its so much better live!

  • i absoulutly loooove parsons dance co they r amazing but this number is mii all time fave

  • A great performance!

    Thank you!

  • I've seen someone else perform this twice and I liked his ballet (the one I saw) performance better...

  • David was amazing in this, he was a truly unique dancer. He hires good dancers but there is no one like him.

  • Oh my GOSH I love this...so happy that I finally found it!

The use of strobes is so cool in this, LOVE it

  • but to see it live is sooo much better...

  • dance i experienced better live, but i agree this piece on video loses the thrill and magic of a live performance.

  • I know.... I've seen it like 5 times!:)

  • agreed

  • PERFECT!!!!!!!

  • My wife and I saw this group in Palm Beach, Florida last year.. the dancer for this routine wasn't Parsons, but he was every bit as good. The routine was amazing, unexpected, and brought the audience to its feet!

  • i first saw this performed by Clifton Brown from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and he was AMAZING!

  • I saw this earlier tonight, but by a different person. I personally think that it is 10 times better in person, haha.

  • Yes, LiveLifeTo ... I was there at that same performance here in Kansas City with you and it was fantastic! Did you get to hang around for the talk with David and some of the dancers after?

  • No, I didn't stay afterward. How was it?

  • me too i saw it yesterday and i love the guy who did much better than parsons maybe cuz i saw it live to

  • davechao03, do you by any chance have Kurt Joos - The Green Table?

  • I think people who see it on video do not realize the complexity of the performance. one jump just 30 cm above or below the "line" or one impulse too quick to press the flash device and everything is ruined.

This is by far the most creative and metaphoric art since decade

  • this is by far the best dance i've ever seen. my class and I went to see a performance of parsons dance...it was amazing.and the strobe light in this one really opened my eyes

  • Nobody dies this as well as David did, he's retires and there is noone else like him.

  • non smettete mai di inseguire i vostri sogni: non nasconadeteli sotto terra, MAI, perché seppellirete una parte di voi.. Volate, sempre. LAG77

  • i saw this today but i different person He had rasta hair and he was dark skin

  • I'm a stagehand and I worked the show when it came through my area. You can't hear it in the audience, but when he (we had the rasta looking guy as well) stops int he pool of light, we could hear him panting becasue it just takes SO MUCH.

    It's a phenomenal piece.

We also had a bat caught in the theatre and it kept flying into the strobe lights. it looked really cool.

  • Whoa! Wait a minute, was the bat thing on purpose?? B/c I think I saw that performance, was it in NJ? I thought I was just seeing things...

  • yeah at RVCC. The bat was not on purpose, it got into the theatre and the strobes made it confused and fly around a bunch.
