One of the fitness/trainers that I am subscribed to by emails has mentioned this book at the end of his email, and he loves this book, and he's good to go. So he got me intrigued and curious into this book.
I read this book and it completely changed my life helping me banish all my negative self beliefs of who I thought I was based on what I accepted were the perceptions of others. Flash forward 14 years later, I'm in the greatest shape of my life, and am now a personal trainer. Psycho-Cybernetics was my first introduction of the power that books can really have to really transform an individual.
One of my best friends played basketball for the NBA and he said the turning point of his life that made his successful was reading Psycho Cybernetics .
These people didn't leave the classic alone and placed their 'spin' on a classic work. Even James Arthur Ray of "The Secret" cartoon DVD with all of its genies, scrolls and smoke, has started teaching about Psycho-Cybernetics. All you need is an open mind and this original book. (You can get it on Amazon or Barnes and Noble or Border's for about $8.00. Yes, it's that good.
Of all the thousands of self-help books that have been written, this man had it absolutely right. His approach was scientific, rational, sympathetic, understanding, and kind. People ranging from stock clerks to movie stars, athletes to politicians, benefitted from "Psycho-Cybernetics." Written in 1959 it was far ahead of its time. You will benefit from this book. But be sure and get the original and not the re-writes of Bobbe Sommer, Matt Furey, or Dan Kennedy. The original is still the best!
can watching the youtube vids substitute for reading "Psycho Cybernetics" ? If not which parts/chapter are the most compelling? it's just that im a slow reader and want to apply this asap. not that im for taking short cuts, but efficiency.
I have listened to the psycho cybernetics tapes and I have also watched the videos. They have helped me so much in my athletic career. So I think watching the video will substitute for reading the book. If you have questions about how it helped me id be glad to help.
@edtapprentice Hmm, I am going to buy thisw book. Hey, you know what. The way you explained this comment from Maxwell Maltz's book seems like Maxwell had wisdom that the Zen/Shaolin/Budhist Tibetan Monks have. Very deep, and very wise about things. Am I right? For example: Basically they would say that if you think you can fly, or you can pick that car up, or jump a few meters in the sky, maybe you can. If you don't think you can, then you most likely never will (Power of the subconcious, huh?)
i would thoroughly suggest reading the book, as reading and taking breaks, allows you time to contemplate and truly integrate the content into your psyche. Its not an immediate process, it takes practise. The book isnt that large, only about 250 pages, and is very readable. Read it, you wont regret it.
This concurs with the Holy Bible "whatsoever a man thinketh that he is"

this book has helped me do so much for myself. In fact, if more people knew about this book, scientology would be out of business in a week or so.

Anybody reading Maltz's body language? It's a mixed message, confident & defensive.

I have read scores of self-help books, and this by far, is the best.
The chapters on attaining goals and banishig fear are golden.
This famous little best-seller will return your zest for life...try it!

the reason you are a "slow reader" is because youve allowed your cybernetic mechanism to convince yourself that you are a "slow reader"...
read the WHOLE book and change your thinking... or at least the performance of reading and comprehension..

Chapter 7 on Happiness is the most compelling (and that's from memory).
Buy the book. It is probably the single best book I've ever read, and I've red thousands, and many of them "self-help" books.
This was the best.
