Thanks for showing all us bass player your wonderful technique. I would like to know what effects you use to get that lite growing sound,that extra bite. If you would expand on that please!!!
Do you have to choose?;-) Well this makes it easier to cover all strings - shifting between low and hi strings and of course playing chords with bass notes
yes, he also mutes with his palm but, similar to this technique, he plays chords with his index and middle fingers while playing the notes with his thumb... awsome
I would think with that name you would have a little more appreciation for good music and good bass playing. Don't give us Flea fans a bad name. Great playing, Marlowe! 5 stars!
i loved ur jam, u repeated the riff a lot and a great guitar could go in with it

Marlowe what do you think of the late maurice Gibb's bass playing skills? He was the one that played bass for the BeeGees.

Cool technique marlowe! Pino Palladino uses this technique all the time. It's great for getting that 'double bass' feel especially on blues numbers.
do a search for;
john mayer - come when i call
You'll see Pino using this exact technique

You're not thinking about the palm muting technique? Thats the most common, used a lot by Marcus

I have seen a lot of this technique in Paul Westwood's 91 VHS called The Complete Bass Player - in case you're interested....

I was inspired partly by Abe Laboriel, Damien Erskine, Albert Collins and country/blues finger pickers
