@IndieGameDevCorner Well, my aim was to not only do a walkthrough, but give the viewer a total experience of the gameplay, animation included. But, yes, you're right.
@Bommah447 I am trying to mount an offense and advance forward at the same time, and since I don't get any kind of defensive boost either way, it's a good move. It can also draw the enemy closer so you can mount a big offensive the next turn.
@SS4519 No, I pick the route that will get me what I think is the best possible lineup for the final battle. Episode 26 explains exactly how I did it.
The series started as Famicom Wars back in 1988, on the Famicom system. Throughout its history, the series has ventured onto Game Boy, Super Famicom, GBA, DS, and Wii and GameCube under the name Battalion Wars. As far as I know, there hasn't been a game like this on the PC, you may be thinking of the Famicom version.
I thought fire emblem was sort of a combination of advance wars and shining force. Because I played FE last, I liked to call it Shining Wars or Advance Force for kicks.
I've played this series straight through, absolutely love it, probably one of my most favourite games ever! I agree it takes a long time to master the techniques learned through tutorials or even just through observation and judgement. Once you do though you won't forget it, you'll become shit-hot!
It's a very good game; I highly recommend it. But don't expect to dominate it right away. This game and its sequels (especially) take a long time to master. It's tough to do turn-by-turn walkthroughs because of the randomness of the AI.
Also, if you like this game, I might recommend Fire Emblem as well. It plays virtually the same, the big difference being your units cannot be recovered if lost.
It's strange how the AI seems so focused on targeting transport units, considering how cheap they are to replace (except the Lander) They're great for luring enemy units into range.
I found this game in a trade in shop and erased its data. It took me like a week to unlock all the characters. It was a pain in the butt. I still don't have Nell!!
Could someone pls provive a Good working EMulator and a Good Advanced war Download for the AW series?? I have one but it freezes everytime I click a certain unit in each level and i never know which one it is.
The mech is a direct-combat unit, so no, the mech would have to be right next to the tank. If it were a long-distance attacker such as a rocket, missile, or artillery unit, you could attack from a distance. However, long-distance units cannot move and attack in the same turn.
There are a lot of step-by-step as well as generic walkthroughs out there. However, often, if you are following one, you kind of have to bank on the AI performing some certain moves (usually near the end), and if they don't, you end up having to improvise. I try to give broad hints on how to complete each mission, and not be too specific, since there is no guarantee that a step-by-step run will work. Plus, following me or anyone move-for-move just sucks the fun out of the game. Don't do it.
This game is good, but very tricky. The sequels are even tougher and have a bit more to offer. You should also try the War Room maps. You're completely on your own there.
The War Room are just a bunch of situational maps in which you compete for high scores. As you go through Campaign Mode, you earn coins or points, which can be used to unlock more maps, characters, etc.
man I really got to find an area where they still sell this game or if someone still has it and wants to sell it I only got Advance Wars 2 and Advance Wars Days of Ruin I need just this one and Advance Wars Dual Strike to complete it fully
great guide. you helped me out a lot. one thing though. i'm don't want to sound like a snob or anything but couldn't you have brought up you artillery to help? you just left half your army by the mountains. it just seems like you could have done more damage and won sooner.
I could have done that, but that would have left my HQ wide open, and my tanks would have gotten bogged down in the woods and when a Blizzard hit. It's always a good idea to have defenders at your HQ, no matter what your strategy, because there is always a chance something could go wrong.
I knew I already had enough kills to get the max score and I didn't want to put my technique score in even the slightest danger. I also wanted to complete the map as quickly as possible.
Capturing cities allows you to use them as places where you can repair units and have great defensive cover. Also, each property you possess gives you $1,000 a day to spend on units, repairs, fuel, and ammo (only on maps where you can deploy new units as you go).
Intheresting strategy. I always move my southern units east to wipe out everything instead of having them chill by the base.

That's a AI trait that you need to exploit to succeed. When you have no more use for them, use them as bait.

Who's the strongest character in this game?
MrLoso818 2 years ago
That depends on what scenario you're in. If power is the key, use Max. If you need to capture a lot, use Sami.

Just start a new campaign mode and overwrite it.
If you're talking completely wipe the game clean, hold L+Right+Select and turn on the GBA.

I'll save that for my upcoming review series.
TheUltimateGamer07 2 years ago
i really dont get why you have the red squares. what are they for?
ivs94 2 years ago
The red squares indicate the attack range of the corresponding unit, but not necessarily the movement range.
TheUltimateGamer07 2 years ago
ok so lets say their is a tank in my mech's attack area can i attack without being right next 2 him?
ivs94 2 years ago
The mech is a direct-combat unit, so no, the mech would have to be right next to the tank. If it were a long-distance attacker such as a rocket, missile, or artillery unit, you could attack from a distance. However, long-distance units cannot move and attack in the same turn.

in this mission is the way that you show it the only possible way 2 follow wat you do step by step?

TheUltimateGamer07 2 years ago
ok well the first mission i did it step by step and the AI did exacaly wat it was doing on yours
ivs94 2 years ago
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In the later missions, it gets harder to go move-for-move.
TheUltimateGamer07 2 years ago
o ok is this game really worth passing?
