It was amazing when he slammed Studd because that was towards the end of his life when he had horrible back pain and almost never lifted an opponent anymore. In the 1960s and early 70s, he would lift guys over his head, arms extended, then bring them down to his shoulder for the bodyslam. Why did he bring them back down first? Because he felt slamming them from overhead would hurt them too much. He also did drop kicks in those days. He was a great and kind man.

I saw heard Kevin Nash give a story about Paul White, where he was standing with him in front of a mirror and noticing that, with boots on, Nash was just barely shorter than the giant was barefooted. That same giant swears Andre was taller than he by at least a half foot....and larger by a hundred pounds. He continued to grow until the moment he died.... about 7'4".
All this talk about Andre's height, Ernie Ladd confirmed that he was much taller then 6'9 so my guess is he was anywhere from 6'11 to 7'1. Andre either way was still a giant just look at his hands and head.

Hogan at his peak was 6,7 (lost height cause bad back/hips)... in their 1981 showdown there is no more than 3 inches between them and same for WM3 where for the poster had Andre stand on a step to make him look much 'taller'.

@optimusidol no they didn't really use titantrons back then and and Andre never really had a finisher. Every move he did could be considered a finisher considering how big the guy was. Most wrestlers didn't but some did like Hogan's Leg drop or Flairs figure four or Randy Savage's top rope elbow drop.
Andre would frequently stand on a boxes as per orders from Vince Jr who produced the interview segments back then. It was in best interest of the McMahons to make Andre look imposing because they were his business managers and handled his bookings to the various territories.

It was in a bar in Canada because before he became big in America, Andre first went to Canada and became famous there and so one time he was in the bar and a bunch of guys started giving him shit, saying things like "oh you're not so tough after all" and shit like that, Andre replied that he didn't want any trouble but they wouldn't leave him alone so in the end he chased them and they ran to their car and locked the doors, so he flipped their car over.

Where do people get the idea that he wasn't every inch of 7'4" or even 5" before surgery and his slouch... I saw heard Kevin Nash give a story about Paul White, where he was standing with him in front of a mirror and noticing that, with boots on, Nash was just barely shorter than the giant was barefooted. That same giant swears Andre was taller than he by at least a half foot....and larger by a hundred pounds. He continued to grow until the moment he died.... about 7'4".

All this talk about Andre's height, Ernie Ladd confirmed that he was much taller then 6'9 so my guess is he was anywhere from 6'11 to 7'1. Andre either way was still a giant just look at his hands and head.

@TheHappynot Andre was around 7'2, but due to knee and back problems ended up around the 6'11 - 7'0 mark. There are taller men, but are not classified as giants. Andre suffered from an enlarged pituitary gland that made everything larger then normal (as you have observed by his large hands and head). Also, his voice is classic of giants. Very very deep. The billed 7'4" was just a side show number. He wasn't that tall.

Hogan at his peak was 6,7 (lost height cause bad back/hips)... in their 1981 showdown there is no more than 3 inches between them and same for WM3 where for the poster had Andre stand on a step to make him look much 'taller'.

@barbarash He was exactly 7 feet. Big John Studd was 6 feet 9 legit and hogan was no more than 6-5 or 6-6. Hogan comes up to his mouth in WM3 which is about 6 inches from the top of your head- Andres head is probably more.

Most wrestlers didn't but some did like Hogan's Leg drop or Flairs figure four or Randy Savage's top rope elbow drop.

Andre would frequently stand on a boxes as per orders from Vince Jr who produced the interview segments back then. It was in best interest of the McMahons to make Andre look imposing because they were his business managers and handled his bookings to the various territories.
