Ok, so I've listened to this first, just like somebody below recomended, I've pushed away all my hard feelings to FOB and still I think that it wasn't good. Not because the original was better (altough nobody can do this better than Ian) but because of the realization. The drums suck, especially in second verse and choruses, the guitar at 1:50 just sounds bad and this emo moans at the end almost made me puke. Everything doesn't fit togheter, it sounds as if every one of them played for itself

People should stop complaining about this cover. Fall Out Boy was practically learning how to be a band and become a proper artist. It's a cover; it's not supposed to be close to the original. Joy Division only made the song so much harder to cover, and Fall Out Boy wanted to stick to their own sound without making it worse as much as possible. I don't hate Joy Division. They did make good music. Fall Out Boy was somewhat confused at least for some part of their early stages.
Ah, screw Ian Curtis. He was a suicidal, Mancunian moron who couldn't sing to save his life. The chorus sounds so much nicer an octave up, that's reason enough for me to prefer this version..
Love Will Tear Us Apart is a song deeply emotional and yet with an incomparable numbness that only Ian Curtis could achieve. It shouldn't be so "cheerful" sounding but it was a nice try from FOB, I just think they should've sticked to the original essence of the song.
The reason why people hate this cover is because when ian curtis wrote this song he wrote it from the heart and what was going on in his life and he eventually killed himself because of the choices he made and the way he was feeling. Then fall out boy came along and covered a very deep song and made it into a forgettable pop song which has no problem appealing to the 99% of fall out boy listeners who have never herd of Joy Division

Fall out boy turned it into a teen angst version about a kid that didn't get a date for the prom or something. It made me feel sick when someone said Joy division ripped this song off fall out boy.

The reason this song is so good is because of Ian Curtis' bass-baritone voice. The words were his own, which is why I can't listen to Fall Out Boy's version. But respect for them for trying, no one could top the original.

Joy division's version was about a man who's life was falling apart..
Fall out boy turned it into a teen angst version about a kid that didn't get a date for the prom or something. It made me feel sick when someone said Joy division ripped this song off fall out boy.
However, I'm not against this cover, it could have been a lot worse.. and if it makes people listen to joy division then I'm not complaining just listen to the original aswell as this.

i have no idea why people listen to music they know they are going to dislike i can understand if your fall out boy fan you wanna listen because its something new from the band but if you don't like fall out boy and just want to come onto this video being determined not to like it and just want to troll do you not have better things to do with life then spend it listening to music you don't like.

have to say, although I can get into FOB quite a bit, this is seriously disappointing. none of the instruments work together. And not in a good way.

@AtticPhace If you're referring to the ENGLISH band Joy Division than you should probably go fuck yourself. If anyone ripped anyone off it would be Fall Out Boy ripping them off because they are a band from the late 70's and this song came out long before FOB covered it. I actually like this cover, but this comment just insults me, the fact that you refer to one of the most revolutionary bands in history as "that dumb irish band," you sad poor soul.

this is a good version of this song. why does it matter if they covered a song that some of you apparently revere as holy? its music. you should be happy to see what an influence Joy Division has had on the world, instead of hating on a band who obviously wanted to honor and tribute them. i guarantee that most of the hate is coming from kids who weren't even alive when the band broke up.

I really love the Joy Division version but I think all the hate comments are unnecessary, FOB just wanted to renew the song, it shows their respect for the song too, so please stop posting all those hate comments, if you don't like it please keep listening Joy Division's version and leave this for what it is, thank you (:

The reason this song is so good is because of Ian Curtis' bass-baritone voice. The words were his own, which is why I can't listen to Fall Out Boy's version. But respect for them for trying, no one could top the original.
