dude no wonder houstons defense used to not be that good. it seemed like every play they gave all the recievers and tight ends free releases allowing peyton to take his team down the field almost at will
At 1:41 Look at the two WRs at the top of the screen. The slot receiver doesn't really even run a route, he just runs straight into the CB covering Reggie Wayne (which is actually illegal, lol) and as a result Wayne is uncovered for an easy slant.
A similar play - which was more of a screen - happens at 4:25. Good job spotting the blitz (I'm guessing case the safeties were almost in the box).
@shocktrooper327 at 4:25 it's not illegal because the block by Gonzalez on Wayne's defender came after Reggie caught the ball. Once the ball is caught, the WR is basically a runner and everyone else a blocker. You'd have a valid argument if the pick or block occurred before the pass was caught, but that isn't the case. Texans were in zone coverage and the Safety slid outside following Gonzalez leaving the middle wide open for Reggie.
Indy has a great offense, but it's not even funny how often they run "pick" or "rub" patterns. Virtually anytime Peyton spots man coverage, one WR will intentionally run into the DB that is covering his fellow teammate -- thus springing him loose.
at 1:15 look at the two WRs at the bottom of the screen - the slot guy runs straight. No big deal. But! The split WR runs his "in route" right off the tail end of that slot, so that the CB covering him will "rub" right off of him - and he'll be open.
