@4272mana lots of reasons. marquez is even more of a pure counterpuncher than mayweather. pac just happened to be over aggressive for the sake of impressing the crowd. that work against him, but he still got a draw and a split for the knockdowns. de la hoya is more agressive than marquez, that will give pac something for himself to counter off of. i.e. de la hoya's jab. pac is known for countering the jab with his lead left. i'd pic a prime pac over a prime de la hoya.
