?when car rear-ends a truck they blame the truck driver" FALSE. I was called to an accident where a pickup truck rearended a Semi the pickup driver tried to tell us the Semi did it and even backed up. If you rearend someone it means you follow too close therefore its your fault. As for Drafting it is ILLEGAL outside of a racetrack.
The money I'd save isn't worth getting my head removed if he has to stop. I'm not a truck driver but I use to have to move them around on private property and I can see where these truck drivers get frustrated with "4 wheelers".
and who is saying the truck would get blamed....the car that does the rear ending is automatically at fault for not performing a safe following distance..
@38snipshow You can do your own search look up a story called “Big rig underride hazzards March 1, 2011” they lay all the blame on trucks and not one thing or warning is said about cars not tailgating.
Well we’ve seen some of the comments people saying it’s only drifting, so let me ask you people this. Why is it when a car tailgates a bigger vehicle (not just a semi) its drifting, but if a bigger vehicle (again not just a semi) tailgates a smaller one, its bullying? That makes no sense.
@wolf9walker I think it's more wrong when a bigger vehicle tailgates because they don't get as much downforce as when a smaller vehicle tailgates. Also it's just plain scary to see a larger vehicle behind you like that. I still think that seeing any vehicle tailgating is unsettling but a semi truck is the exception. The truckers don't have the "luxury" of being able to use a rear view mirror. I bet that guy in the semi either doesn't know or doesn't care. .
@aadeebindy (continued) However, I don't agree with following that close. at least stay 50 feet back. he might have adaptive cruise control but that no excuse for 1 car length per 55 mph
4-wheelers (car drivers) are not professional drivers (especially not race trained drivers) many are not properly train for just driving, and when you cant see in front of the vehicle you are drifting, that makes it even more dangerous, because you are putting your life in the hands of the person in front of you and those in front of him/her. You trust strangers that much? is your life only worth 15% fuel savings?
@wolf9walker drafting isnt only for racing drafting is done on the highway for gas comsuption.drafting on the hway behind a truck can cut fuel by 15 percent.
@Technobeefalo You’re right!! I didn’t think of it like that, The trucker is a pro to be able to anticipate traffic in front and around him so he wouldn’t have to slam on the brakes and have the little car slam into the back of him. Then sue him.
He already has a freakin hybrid wat a cheap bastard he dosent care that the truck driver has to drag his dumb piece of shit car & hes making it more expensive for the trucker since he has that extra weight to drag smhhh
its a eco-friendly car a Chevy volt runs on electricity 90 miles per what ever the unit is on electric and i think 40mpg on fuel if needed of course hes drafting to save electricity and fuel which is good for him. You don't have to be a pro driver to draft a lot of people do this to save fuel its a good idea.
@carss4lifee several times a week I see people without brake lights, and everyday I see people with 1 brake light missing. Plus its trust, trust that the person in front of you knows what they are doing. “over 6mil accidents each year in the U.S. 31% are rear-end collisions.” A few times just today I saw people jam on their brakes because they were going to miss their exit, while people behind them are jamming on their brakes not to rear-end them.
@carss4lifee what happens is, if the trucker has to make a emergency stop, the car rear-ends the truck and the trucker gets the blame. yes it does happen. If people want to put their lives in a strangers hands, that’s up to them, but don’t blame anyone else when their luck runs out.
@BombayBadboy512 In racing its called drafting, on the freeway its called stupidity. Racecar drivers are the only ones on the track and are trained for this. The average car driver is not properly trained for driving, period. There are too many people that do stupid stuff on the roads, especially around trucks. And if that truck has to make an emergency stop, that car is going underneath. And of course the truck will get the blame, because he is the professional.
The truck 60mph with reaction, recognition and braking time is about 361’ the car with the same needs 303’ to stop. Take away the trucks recognition and reaction time about 176’ that leaves the truck stopping in about 185’. the car driver still as the full 303’ to recognition (see the brake lights on), reaction (move foot from gas to brake) and braking time. That’s going to make a mess.
@poqbum Yes its true cars stop faster then trucks, but the car driver is unprepared if the truck stops suddenly. Goggle “400 people die from rear ending trucks” the car can’t see around the truck so can not anticipate if the truck has to stop, he will only know by the truckers brake lights. By the time the car sees the lights, the truck is already stopping, at that range the car couldn’t even swerve in time. Look up reaction time for braking cars. not the truck he's already braking.
@poqbum The car is about 15 maybe 20’ from the truck. If both vehicles are traveling at 60, that works out to 88ft per sec. the recognition (that the brake lights have come on) is about 1sec, then reaction time (car hitting brakes) is 1sec. So with 2secs the car has gone about 176’ before he is on the brakes, at that range the car driver is doomed and only driving on luck and hope that the truck doesn’t make an emergence stop.
@sapher2020 Maybe, but if the truck has to stop fast, and I was in that car I wouldn’t want that truck as my hood ornament. This car driver must have watched that mythbusters show but didn’t bother to watch the whole thing.
@wolf9walker I know it's not a cool thing to do and it is absolutely not safe, however, we should be preocuppied over others things before this sort of things. 400 deaths over how many millions citizen come on... home many death daily in darfur you think?
@sosothy Sorry if I sound selfish, but I don’t live there, and have no desire to go there, or anywhere else for that matter. People on the roads are faced with this traffic everyday, while it’s nothing like darfur. It does effect peoples lives. People want America to get involved with other countries and when the U.S. does, those same people curse us. So other then giving money to those whom can and know what to do to help the innocent victims, what do you expect me to do?
I'd rather be tailgated than listen to this fucking shit froth dick song!

yea he's totally tailgating for better gas mileage. If he wanted to pass obviously he would do it. Also it's very easy to stop faster than a truck.
Still it's something that I wouldn't do because of rocks that fly off the truck and I despise tailgating in general.
