@TheOriginalEntz Agree 100%. Not that 3D is completely necessary.. or would be more usable, but that "you need something to push against" is a copout answer. Our brains are incredibly adept at connecting gestures of all kinds with visual and audio feedback.
Jeffs group has been doing a great job with larger workgroup oriented Multi-Touch walls. I hope to see smaller individual multi-touch devices. This would require a more adaptive system that can be scaled for use on a variety of display sizes. You can see all my Multi-Touch concept videos at my channel: thenewtouch
Wow. Nice. I can envisage this being the wall in the living room. Middle part showing the TV (resizable, of course, and fully HD, or better), and having stuff like photos, to-do lists, shopping lists, web browsing. Maybe a small version in the kitchen too, sharing the data.
It's way cool. I want one... (or at least I want to know where I can go to play with one)
You know guys you can get this thing for your computer. It wont be touch screen of course but it has a similar interface. The program is called bumptop. I think the people that created bumptop are the same people that made this, I'm not sure, but the UI is very similar, espicially the options menu that pops up when that guy makes a loop, it's the same thing in bumptop. I have the program but it doesn't run well because I have a weak graphics card. But yeah, you guys should try it. (stumbled)
I have always felt that one of the biggest shortfalls of modern computing is the interface. A giant multi touch wall wont be that useful for pumping out word documents but for things like CAD programs this helps break down the barrier between the designer/engineer and the workplace. Cant wait to fire this sucker up with CAD.
coolness. it's still a good concept, however. i wouldn't pay for either the devices because all i really do is make websites. i can do that with any pc. i'm just sort of a microsoft enthusiast.
I should have known that youtube wouldnt be a place to see this piece of technology appreciated. You guys are so lame you would have probably boo'ed the idea of the internet 18 years ago. This device will change the way we interact with our computers forever. Just wait and see when your doctor pulls up your files and looks through your body and shows you whats wrong with you on one. Or our Military using a few of these while defending our country. We needed something like this.
hardly new is it. about every sci-fi film has had one for years only it's closer to reality. Still, too much arm waving involved, with a laser mouse you hardly have to move your hand. would look great with an xbox. Have to admit its a cool gadget but a very costly gadget, at least 10 years b4 a house hold screen
that's awesome but I would like ot have a smaller version downward like a table so I can type and stuff hands foreword and up in not the way our body is built. for example a keyboard.
It's not a "Table Computer". The system you are speaking of is the "Microsoft Surface", and I'm sure it has input methods similar to those shown here.
It's...neat, but really, I can't see any advantage to standing up and writing electronically on a wall, when I can sit down at a desk and do the same thing with a mouse and keyboard.
Perhaps if this thing was much smaller, and made for a working environment where you would be logging a lot of hours, I would be more excited for this thing.
Actually, being able to stand is a plus for me seeing as I have scoliosis and sitting down for long periods of time (like now on the internet) kills my back. Standing is no problem for me, so seeing this is quite awesome. I do agree, though. Sometimes, it IS much better to ahve it be small enough for hose who want to sit and not stand since sometimes, standing can kill your legs.
