I laughed a bit at how the they try to delude themselves into thinking male hair stylists absolutely have to be straight, "because, after all, who is more appreciative of beautiful women than a man?"
My mother, who was first licensed in 1946 had those metal clips @4:03 until her death in 2006. I have them now in my collection-those things will never die! Too bad the quality of everything has gone downhill. They don't hold that much hair but they do have a great grip-I never knew they were that old. I'm sure this is what her shop looked like in the 50s. As a stylist I treasure my weekly clients-they are a dying breed.
@JsgHair71 My aunt was a hairdresser in the 60's and 70's. She and my mom had tons of those clips. They were meant for making those little spit curls, holding the smaller rollers, or holding sections of hair up while you styled the hair on the lower part of your head.
Lol at 2 hrs in a salon. I'm there maybe 30 min's the least. Seems they do more than mine does such as nails and face. And I guess now days too we have more technology.
Love them all, but as a Makeup Artist and now hairstylist, nail tech and esthetician this one has a special place in my heart! And amazing how as many things have changed it has all stayed basically the same. Bravo
So did anyone have hair past thier shoulders back then? It seems like everyone had short dos.

how many of the people appearing in the clip are still alive I wonder....

Aaaaagh! She just hacked at that hair when she cut it. I've been a stylist for 17 years and I gasped at that.
But we wrap perms still the same way. Same sectioning.

The title to this video is missing an apostrophe in the word "womens". There should be no apostrophe when referring to the "1950s".
