Read the book "Stripping the Gurus" its about how all these spiritual leaders are all a bunch of sexual predators, liars, fraudsters and perverts not only that but there is a huge amount of people who get psychotic breaks from meditation. You would think if 'enlightenment' existed there would be a couple people who don't have rap sheets a mile long.
Chopra just exploits people's ignorance of science and innate desire for harmony. I mean this video wasn't so bad, he just listed some neurotransmitters (and no, serotonin is not a hormone even though people call it "the happiness hormone"). What exactly does he mean "in scientific terms the soul is..."? What field of science?

there is no evidence for chopra's claims outside of the usual placebo. yes meditation is nice - shutting down you OAA always feels nice. yes, taking more time to relax and think positively is nice. however, there would STILL be a need for surgery. it's hilarious that wealthy westerners buy into this outmoded rubbish, while in chopra's homeland people are craving modern, scientifically tested, effective medicines.

I loved Deepak Chopra's book, Creating Health. It turned my life around. It really works. Just keep your thought healthy. This actually led me to become a born again christian believe it or not. Wow i feel so peaceful and happy.
Deepak Chopra is a great expert in helping people feel better. He talks about spirit a lot, but his healing practices are about healing your body only. Body is the end objective and primary object of his concern. So, his practices are no substitute for our relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. In a way, new age spiritualism is a prosthetics to your ailing body and mind. Does it really help your soul?
The problem with your question is that you assume the body and soul are seperate entities. A great Christian Theologian once said that "The soul without the body hath not the perfection of it's nature. Alluding of course to our humanity but more specifically to our imperfections. If you never have any imperfections then how can you know of your potential perfectability? My point is that our weaknesses as humans informs our soul and resolution of illness comes from the evolution of consciousness.
Also our imperfections and limitations of the body are an opportunity for our soul to bridge the gap that we can overcome none the less. A handicap is not a handicap. I handicap is a opportunity for us to succeed in spite of the handicap showing our God Spark and proving the Divine... True?
I think that it's true in a sense that it's a great opportunity for spiritual growth, but resolution of disease should be a concomitant of that spiritual growth. So I disagree with the last part as man has all the tools at his disposal to cure disease. @TheParasiliti yes i agree, long story short a man caught an illness, and there was no cure at that time period and he was studying to be a Buddhist priest, he was told he was death bound, so he said if he is to die he will die seated in the zen meditation posture. and so on and so forth , days had past, but death did no come and so he cured him self through meditation and he became a Buddhist priest and lived the rest of his days until natural death at like 90.

Don't presume to speak for all of Science. The body is not the host for spirit. Spirit is not confined to the body. The body is surrounded and in spirit. Without spirit, there is "no body". Spirit gives rise to the mind, which in turn gives rise to what appears to the mind again, as "the body".
I think what johnjnesbit means is that there is no such thing as spiritless matter. Your body might be looked at as a vehicle for your spirit, its a temple, so take care of it.

there is no evidence for chopra's claims outside of the usual placebo. yes meditation is nice - shutting down you OAA always feels nice. yes, taking more time to relax and think positively is nice. however, there would STILL be a need for surgery. it's hilarious that wealthy westerners buy into this outmoded rubbish, while in chopra's homeland people are craving modern, scientifically tested, effective medicines.

Deepak Chopra works very hard to misinform and gives the impression that the mind can cure all ailments. He's disingenuous. He sets out to convey that the mind can cure all ailments but pathetically backpedals when challenged, how weak is that ?
The placebo effect is real and genuine and has some effect on pain perception and psychological illness but doesn't work on a broken leg, cancers or systemic physiologically based illness.

Deepak Chopra is a great expert in helping people feel better. He talks about spirit a lot, but his healing practices are about healing your body only. Body is the end objective and primary object of his concern. So, his practices are no substitute for our relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. In a way, new age spiritualism is a prosthetics to your ailing body and mind. Does it really help your soul?

The problem with your question is that you assume the body and soul are seperate entities. A great Christian Theologian once said that "The soul without the body hath not the perfection of it's nature. Alluding of course to our humanity but more specifically to our imperfections. If you never have any imperfections then how can you know of your potential perfectability? My point is that our weaknesses as humans informs our soul and resolution of illness comes from the evolution of consciousness.

I think that it's true in a sense that it's a great opportunity for spiritual growth, but resolution of disease should be a concomitant of that spiritual growth. So I disagree with the last part as man has all the tools at his disposal to cure disease. There are currently 57 chemotherapeutic agents that have been identified recently that target only the cancer stem cells and the potential to grow entire limbs back is within reach. Raising energy fields? Tell that to a handicap person.

If Michael Jackson, those people with addition problems, & doctors writing illegal prescription drugs were able to understand what Dr. Chopra & many other spiritual/ scientific teachers suggest, there would be no need for addictions. Dr. Chopra loved Michael & really tried to help him. As Albert Einstein said, "Without the mystical, life is as meaningless as a snuffed-out candle."

@TheParasiliti yes i agree, long story short a man caught an illness, and there was no cure at that time period and he was studying to be a Buddhist priest, he was told he was death bound, so he said if he is to die he will die seated in the zen meditation posture. and so on and so forth , days had past, but death did no come and so he cured him self through meditation and he became a Buddhist priest and lived the rest of his days until natural death at like 90.

The problem with New Age is that its so immature. It ignores what goes on i the shadow of your soul, and that will come to haunt you. The reintegration of the shadow is a vital aspect of true growth. yeh no offense MarkusBaily but i've had tapes of him talking back in 1990 and have had books here and there ever since... he's never claimed to be saying anything new. It's GREAT if you already know this stuff... i believe most people know this stuff intuitively but i think most people are out of touch with there inner being. i think deepak's videos and books are really great for us to just remember and help stay in touch with our ture nature.

your morale level tends to be determined by biochemicles, the minds experience of spirit determines the chemicle reaction within the body creating a physical sensation... so you are not wrong, you feel spirit on a physical level as it affects your mood and morale. You have just stopped seeking due to your preconceived beleifs about what a "spiritual" experience is. We are much more than our physical selves, our physiology is determined by mental and emotional feilds.

I actually saw him last summer as I was walking up to Steps on Broadway and he was walking down to the Chopra Center on 54th and Broadway. This is why this age of "reason" and "sensate skepticism" has bought a huge wave of depression with the baby boomers generation, people have lost confidence in the spirit.
