Really big Goosebumps the whole 2:57 min. of this song... I think PJ is the most underrated band ever! Is right there among the top, for is the best, and perhaps in time one will be recognized as one of the best ever musically, lirically and actively!
i agree.. he ad libs like no other lol.. one of the main reasons i like the entire band is they actually care.. they are always making sure thier time and money goto good causes.. if you support the band your helping too as i see it.. ~peace
jeez i take that comment back. i just saw this whole video and im mind boggled at how he performed this. shitttt!!!!!!!!! i hope i never get him angry
ughghghgh too politcal. involving war with the old amazing music. whatev, im just saying. of course there music is still good n everything. really good combo though
yes yes whatever...its all nice sentiment to think no wars and that war is good for nothing and a waste which it often is.
Good luck getting the entire world to become peaceful, human nature is flawed and we will always find darkness and desttruction of our own kind. America wont be doing the killing soon it will be China and russia etc and people will wish the US was still the main power.
just because human nature is flawed doesn't mean that you shouldn't strive towards making things better, though you are correct in a twisted, very sad way. these things do make a difference, if only in someone's mind and perception. for instance, it makes me feel better about the world that someone like Ed would display his feelings so prominently, so it is not waste, if only to me.
Regardless, the only wars worth fighting are the oppressed against the oppressor; the weak against the strong; the poor against the rich; the people against the government... once the imbalance becomes too great to bear and before the power becomes too entrenched
I have to agree. The same day that we will be able to end all disagreements, all greed, all envy, all corruption, and for that matter - all barfights, will be the same day wars are no longer an issue. Not to say we shouldn't strive on an individual level, but wishing these things away is about all we have the real power to do. That, and vote in people to government that we believe to be of sound character, possessing strength of will. Oh, and those that don't turn out to be corrupt puppets.
I agree with you, there ARE reasons to go to war, like to protect your country, or other countries you care about, or to free the oppressed...
If you truly believe in "No War", should anyone have fought in WWII? Or just let Hitler and Germany to continue to murder masses? There are reasons to go to war, its just unfortunate anyone ever HAS to.
Quoting "Oceansjenny": "If you truly believe in "No War", should anyone have fought in WWII?"
No, I definitely don't think anyone should have fought in WWII. Let me explain. Usually when people ask this question, they mean, "Was it justified to intervene in Hitler's war", which it was. But the question of whether or not WWII itself was worth fighting could be taken to mean just the opposite. I.E. "Was it justified for Hitler to start WWII"? which of course, the answer is no.
love PJ... just to add my 2 cents worth on some of the discussion below about the war... it is true that th US was already at war with afghanistan at the time, but this song was more directed towards the fact that Bush was working towards invading Iraq. afghanistan was justifiable... and no one really ever challenged that decision. iraq on the other hand wasn't justifiable... and wrong.
i understood his point fine but he said this was in 02 and impied that we still went to war even tho we were already there. Ed didnt do this shit before the war.
you really our a Bushleaguer... Have you ever listened to Pearl Jam, like actually read the words? They've been writting against WAR, ALL WARS, since the begining. Open your mind a little buddy. Hello...? Point is "NO REASON TO FUCKING GO TO WAR!", now, before and ever! Peace out!
haha wow - if YOU listened to PJ and read the words you would realise WHY my name is Bushleaguer . . . . go back and read the lyrics off all their albums pre-Binaural and i think you would be stretching at best to find any anti-war lyrics on there. Sure they always wrote lyrics about the gov't but none that i am aware of that are blatantly anti-war
ugh of course there are reasons to go to war.... its unfortunate anyone ever has to, but that's the reality of the situation. Should anyone have fought in WWII against Hitler, or let him take over? How about when Napolean tried taking over Europe? The Civil War? Sure, it was for dominance, but the slaves were freed as a result of it.
If no one ever went to war then evil master minds would kill all they wanted and rule the world! Its pretty simple; war can be self defense!
The Iraq War, also known as the Occupation of Iraq, or Operation Iraqi Freedom, is an ongoing conflict which began on March 20, 2003 with the United States-led invasion of Iraq.
ya i know and ive been over this before - someone made a comment saying "and the US still went to war" - all my point was that we were already at war in afghanistan at the time - i never said anything about Iraq - we were occupying areas all over the middle east after 9/11 and long before we actually invaded iraq
It would great if PJ started a Peace Tour and went to the congressional districts have have the big weapons manufacturers to protest in front of the CEOs and congress members' offices, then party like rock starts that night and give the audiences a simple, yet significant way to continue the protest to have impact.
i admire ed.. to people who say "PJ should cut the political crap and just rock", FUCK YOUR STUPID ASSES!! when Ed and the guys profess some political belief, it actualy simply means that they do care about their country, about their fellows, about what is actually happening.. ROCKing without social consciousness means deliberately escaping the realities of life.. politics is what makes PJ additionally great..a band with the heart and intellect to notice and do something for humanity..
Perfect Man33... activism makes them even greater than they are. Eddie really feels it and thus they really contribute to make people think. Conversely Bono just looks for more money, he meets with Bush and Blair... Can you imagine Eddie with Bush? The only time they played in the fuckin' Make Poverty History they did it but played "Rockin' in the free world" which is more critical than any U2's lyrics.
I didn't know if they were going to say many things about the war in the London concert 07 but Ed talked for long about the f*cking war, then played "No more" and following it they played Bush Leaguer, WWS and Rockin in the Free World, so FOUR GREAT SONGS AGAINST THE WAR!
Peace, Love, and Pearl Jam always. I have no words for ED for there are none. Hes so much

It was supposedly justifiable if it were to protect our country, but whether or not Iraq was a threat to us is debatable.
