It comes off because the wood was sealed with good quality varnish, the sharpie couldn't seep into the wood fibers because of the lacquer . Good thing you bought nice furniture and not walmart stuff! This is a good lesson that shows you get what you pay for.

@ doxwifey1999 thanyou soooo very very much for downloading this, i just bought a new two piece coffee table which cost s $1,299.00 and ive had it in my house for 6 days now and my son starts pre-school tommorrow so i was naming his things with permanent marker , so i left it in the middle of the dinner table thinking he cant reach but he used a chair to get to it,its white and shinny & he scribbled all over it, i tryed my husbands cologne it worked purfectly THANKYOU so much you just saved me!
