  • This is very busy music for cities which never sleep...reminds me of the very fast traffic in Athens! I've seen a picture of the Alesis but never seen one for sale. Do they cost as much as the jupiter or less, being newer? I don't get how later ones were fiddly with tiny screens.

  • $7000 for a Roland jupiter!!!???? WTF. let's buy 4 ACCESS VIRUS TI2's better!

  • Nice Rack.

  • great song and synths man :D i have a jp8 too in my studio (s/n 131049) the song reminds me of Jarre´s "Globetrotter" :)

  • Im putting my BMW 520i on craigslist.

  • .. and although I don't have the DM300, guess what's sitting on top of my H-8000 ? an Ibanez AD-202 bbd :))

  • God we almost have the same setup : the A6, the JP-8 and the OB-Xa stacked on top of each other (with the A6 in the bottom for extended programming hours) , then I saw the Orville ( ok, mine is an H-8000 FW ) then I saw the FS1R and then the ADAM pair. LOL Nice sequence my friend !

  • space music & sun rays! love it.

  • Roland JUPITER 8...AWESOME!, wonderful studio...ver y nice syntesizers and very nice samplers, I see your Emax down there....

    Cheers.

  • OMG. Thats sounds blumin brilliant.

  • thanks ;)

  • For those on a budget who want something that sound analog...go for an Aleisis ION.

16 filters, 3 osc, great modulation options, 2 mod wheels...it just blows away anything else in it's price range.

  • as a keyboardist.. I of course love this.. and as an idiot.. I don't really know why :)

  • if you were on a budget, what would you choose between prophet 08, Andromeda, or Jupiter 6?

  • for starters id rule out P8. A6 is biggest value., lotta poly, dual filters etc. and would work in more situations. but JP6 is fantastic too.

their characters differ a lot, and so do their best apps. A6 is: warm, organic, darker, dirt, flexible, amazing pads, deep bass, arps, fx.. JP6 colder, cuttin, focused, ripping, brite, AMAZING leads, stabs, compin, hard bass, pwm strings..

if u can only have one, go A6.

  • Wow, that was incredibly helpful. Thank you. People are usually so hesitant to advise others. Your descriptions of the Jp6 and the A6 concur with what I have heard so far. I think I'm going to go A6 - I just wish they werent so damn ugly! Although it does'nt suprise me given the mixed reviews, I'm curious to know why would you rule out P8?

    Great synth action BTW!!!

  • Having owned a Jupiter-6, I can vouch for the fact that it's not one of the greats.

It's just not that warm, punchy, or "in your face".

I sold it when it couldn't compete against my prophet 5 for strings, bass, pads, or anything else.

The jupiter 8 is MUCH better.

  • @BONGGLOK - Budget is the wrong word for any of those synths. I own a Supernova, Poly Evolver and the Andro 6. I have played with most of the vintage stuff and the trick is to match a synth to the style of music you intend to play. There is no 'best one'. I will tell you that with external tube amps, passive speakers and a good pair of Crystal Cable/ or Cardas (3w.Audiogon.you know) you can pretty much set up you synths to sound as you want. I dont like active speakers unless its ATC stuff.

  • SO MUCH, VINTAGE, POLYLOOT D: awesome jam btw!

  • thanks :)

    love analogue polyphonics ..

  • who doesn't :)

  • im not a great fan of the A6 I played one for about three hours and could not get a satisfactory sound out of it, I know it isn't strictly digital...it just sound like it.

  • it is not digital at all. it has all analog sound path, and sounds very much like it too. VCO, VCF, VCA, the works. maybe its just not for you.

its lfos and envelopes are created digitally, as with many great polyphonics of yesteryear i.e. synthex, matrix12, xpander, prophet t8 etc.

i do prefer hardware envelopes, as they are faster, like on jup8 or rev2, but it doesnt really make a synth sound more "digital" or "analog".

  • Yeah this is what I am aware of about the A6. I think you are right though, it just isn't for me...I felt the analogue pots didn't soften my heart.

  • Hi Tomislav!

Nice video, great to see your synths in realtime!

  • the jp8 should be on top.

  • oh... my... god... see, i coudn't have all that, i'd become am extreme! hermit. its bad enough with the minimal equipment i have that im already a semi-hermit. i spend HOURS just filtering and fuckin with knobs to get crazy sounds.....

  • Wow, great setup, analog heaven! Is that an OB8 or OBXA on top?

  • OB-XA

  • Hi Tomislav!

Great to find stuff from you here, sounds awesome!

Btw, do you know which "rev" your JP-8 is?

Yeah, go and get that Mini !!! You won´t regret it :)

And give us some P5 Rev 2 Pleeaaaase :)

    All the best

    /A

  • thanks man. it's a 14-bit version. my prophet is having problems atm, but when i fix it i'll make a video of it too.. ;)

  • ob-xa is getting lonely

  • more! more! more!!!

  • hey Shaft9000, how's it goin?

thanks man, will do ;). im swamped w work atm, and one voice's filter decay is quirky lately, need to fix this first.

  • going well Tom. After i fix my car it's finally time for either an A6 or a Mattson Mini, unless i luck out and a Sunsyn pops up.

Oh take your time of course. I understand these beauties should always sound their best!

...this got me excited a little :)

would love to hear some sh-2 and Obie in the mix, too.

    cheers - Dave

  • hope u find a sunsyn, it sounds awesome. as for modular, im havin a friend diy build some ssm-based vco/vcf and then ill get utility stuff from blacet n motm 1xxx, but very slowly.. :)

never say never, but after i get a minimoog next yr (hopefully), i'm right about done with analog. lookin more into sml console, analog outboard things like that.. huge money drain right there heheh ;)

iu will do a video with Obie definetely, possibly with Rev2 prophet too.

  • cool, where is there arpeggioplay coming from? Chord memory ore is it computer sequenced?

  • its Jupiter8's on-board arpeggiator in "random" ptn mode. i've put it in hold mode, pressed a chord, and off it went.. :)

  • Nice! Good to see you getting into the spirit of youtube!

  • hey dmitry, yeah u should do one with your Q+ ;)

  • svaka cast! :)

  • great stuff :)

  • yours too. awesome Jarre covers. ;)

  • Clusterchord, you lucky bastard.

    Great video BTW!
